Inevitably, I'd just pair the device with one of the many extra external hard drives I have kicking around the house. However, I could just as well spend that amount of money on another Xbox 360 for the living room.

Enter the Western Digital WD TV HD Media Player. Yes, it's a horrible name, but I suppose it's an honest reflection of what the device actually does. The WD TV is a brand-new media player from Western Digital, and judging by the form factor, the company really wants people to pair it with one of its MyBook external hard drives. While the WD TV is much lighter on the connectivity and functionality fronts compared to a Popcorn Hour, it has digital video, digital audio, and a USB port for a hard drive, which are just about all I'm looking for. It's also got great file compatibility, if WD's specs are to be believed. The inclusion of composite video as the only analog connection has me scratching my head a bit, however. I haven't had a chance to test one of these things personally, so my only real reservations remain with the user interface,

just wanna clarify as i know thumbdrive and some flash based memory has some write cycle worn out thinggy

does that affect CF cards also ? since both of them are like flash based device.. is SD affect by the write cycle ?

is the inverter based aircond actually better than non-inverter one ?

how much savings does it really give ?
cause i see some says 50% savings and so on... but how true is that ?

let's say i have a 1.5hp aircond and my bill is 300
if i install a 1.5hp aircond with inverter my bill will be < 200 ?? is that possible ?

would love if you all can share your knowledge ...

hi all,

i just wanna know what's the difference between jboss and tomcat..

as far as i understand apache == iis, aka web servers
while tomcat is a webserver but specifically build for java/jsp based web apps

but what about jboss, i know its similar to tomcat but how similar and how different .
has anybody worked with tomcat and jboss,

i'm familiar with apache and iis, but not tomcat and jboss, hope some of you
can clear my doubt/confusions..

hi all,

just wanna do a simple survey on the amount of users that is utilizing SCSI/SAS storage systems..

there are a few things i would like to know if you all dont mind..

1. SCSI or SAS system.

2. Controller/Raid Card Type/Model & RAID Mode if running on RAID
- Storage performance benchmark - is possible...

3. Cooling of Harddrive, normal air cool ? mount heatsink to hd or something else..

hi

i'm currently using TMPGEnc to encode some of my video from avi/x264/divx to mpeg2 so that i can play on my dvd player

does anybody know how can i make the encoding faster ? cause it seems its based on my cpu performance..

is there anyway to get like a special card or something that will make the encoding faster eg 3 to 4 times faster ?
cause now my encoding is like similar to real time..

ps : shit.. mod please help me move to software section or should this be in hardware since its 1/2 or each ?

I'm planning to get a new casing and i was thinking about a better "thermal/air flow" design..

normally all casing will have air flow such as this..
blue = room air
red = hot air..

venting out at the PCI slots is by a dual slot graphics card that vents the air out..
apart from that my casing also has a opening behind the hd space..

i'm planing to implement my new air flow as such

1. Performance of wireless varies according to ..
a, area
b, number of users per-tower
c, wireless signal

2. Best to say at the moment,
a, some users have above average performance 70%
b, some users have crap performance
c, network bandwidth issues..
d, slow refund times..

3. Service is only average at most

Continue discussion here, another thing to note is wimax is "due" to launch soon middle or maybe 3rd quarter of the year, so izzi will be in a tough field if performance isn't up to par with wimax...

hey guys,

wanna check with you guys, have you guys experience
in consistency in the connection when you get different ip blocks ?

eg
60.51.xx can surf int sites..
118.100.60.xx can't surf some int sites..

some blocks download very fast, some very slow( eg like there is throttling) and so on ?

cause i have a chat with another friend of mine, we sort of suspect this issue, its kinda hard
to troubleshoot this issue, due to the fact tmnuts block all trace route/tracert functions..

anybody like to discuss, please dont "hantam" nuts in this thread, we all know how bad they are
