Nokia Chargers Recall

http://www.tomsguide.com/us/Nokia-Charger-...,news-5061.html

Nokia today announced a recall of over 14 million chargers manufactured by a third party partner, China's BYD. The recall is a precautionary measure after a routine quality control test showed that certain chargers could potentially shock the user.

"During a routine quality control process, Nokia identified a potential product quality issue with certain chargers manufactured by one of its third-party suppliers. The plastic covers of the affected chargers could come loose and separate, exposing the charger's internal components and potentially posing an electrical shock hazard if certain internal components are touched while the charger is plugged into a live socket. Nokia is not aware of any incidents or injuries related to these chargers."

The Finland-based company goes on to say that anyone with AC-3E and AC-3U model chargers, manufactured between June 15, 2009 and August 9, 2009; and the AC-4U model, manufactured between April 13, 2009 and October 25, 2009 should visit chargerexchange.nokia.com or their local Nokia website to arrange swapping their old adapter for a new one.

Reuters reports that the number of chargers affected amounts to 14 million and China's BYD is said to be covering the costs of the replacement chargers. Each charger reportedly costs around $1.

I really don't know where to ask this. I saw a game and video before on the web. It seems quite famous, it's like mostly whitebackground, with objects in black lines i think. Then you can draw new objects (lines, circles, etc) on the screen to solve some puzzle with physics and gravity affecting those objects. I saw a video before, but really can't find it again!
I think it's not a very new game, maybe 1 or 2 years old?? Please help!

The Pirate Bay is no more

The pirate bay is set to be sell off this coming August.

Looks like no BT for the rest of us, going by the new business model of the new owner.

Better download now while you can...

http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Pirate-Ba...ition,8162.html

The Pirate Bay this morning announced that the hugely popular torrent site at the center of a highly publicized court case in Sweden could change ownership.

Zoom

News of the possible sale hit the Swedish press earlier today and spokesman for the group Peter Sunde directed people to the official TPB blog for more information. “Yes, it’s true,” the post confirms. “The Pirate Bay might get acquired by Global Gaming Factory X AB.”

The folks running the Pirate Bay write that, on the internet, things die rather than evolve. By way of example, they point out that there hasn’t been any major changes to the site in the last few years and explain that they don’t want The Pirate Bay to end up dead and buried.

“We've been working on this project for many years. It's time to invite more people into the project, in a way that is secure and safe for everybody. We need that, or the site will die. And letting TPB die is the last thing that is allowed to happen!”

TPB is adamant that the site will still be run the way the original owners want it to be run. “If the new owners will screw around with the site, nobody will keep using it. That's the biggest insurance one can have that the site will be run in the way that we all want to,” TPB team writes.

Even more interesting is the announcement that everyone can own a piece of The Pirate Bay. “And - you can now not only share files but shares with people,” the blog reads. “Everybody can indeed be the owner of The Pirate Bay now. That's awesome and will take the heat of [sic] us.”

However despite assurances that TPB isn’t going anywhere, will remain online and will be run by people with the best of intentions, there’s already been a little backlash from fans. One commenter called LuciferX expressed his disappointment at the news and said TPB was letting all of its users down.

SAMSUNG LED TV

I saw an ad in the papers last week i think. on SAMSUNG's new LED TV.

Anyone seen it already? Any idea how much it cost?

Found a review here:
http://www.slashgear.com/ces-2009-samsung-...led-tv-0729265/

Below is from the Star.
===============================================================================================
KUALA LUMPUR: Samsung Malaysia Electronics Sdn Bhd aims to increase its flat-panel TV market share to 35% with the launch of its new range of LED flat-panel TVs – the LED TV Series 8, Series 7 7000 and Series 6 6000.

According to managing director Yoon Ki-Heung, the company is confident of achieving the target as its range of LED TVs incorporated cutting-edge display technologies, innovative design and environmentally-friendly features.

“Consumers still want perfect picture quality and to enjoy high-quality pictures on large screen,” Yoon told reporters after launching its first full-line LED TVs yesterday.

Last year, the company had a 25% market share in the same category.

“Samsung has pioneered a new species in the TV market with our LED TVs that redefines the standards for viewing quality, home entertainment décor and energy efficiency,” Yoon said.

Since the LED TV had done well in countries like South Korea, where its demand had quadrupled when it was launched, “we are confident we can do something similar here,” he said.

Yoon said he expected the TV market to grow further this year despite the current market situation and that the immense market potential of the new category was expected to help drive towards its target of selling 26 million flat-screen TVs globally in 2009.

Fraud call from Fake AmBank

I received a call from this number just now:
+601300808888

The call starts wil a pre-recorded message saying something about you owe them xx amount of money (in my case, RM4K+++) which was transacted on X date. After that, they allow you to press '0' (or some other key) to connect to an Operator.

I connect to the 'Operator' and ask his name and tried to grill him, this guy very pro and steady and called himself "Brandon". After a while i lose patience, (without telling him any of my personal info, just wanna grill him).

Then i called AmBank (1300808888) and confirm it's a fraud...i was afraid somebody might use my name to apply credit card so just double check to ensure. The operator confirm i don't have a credit card with them and it's a fraud as AMBank will never call their customer about these things and always send letters.

So guys, beware, but next time you kena, maybe try to ask them more question...his staff id, name, who's the manager, how many branch AMBank has...maybe just try to grill him for more info...maybe ask him how to apply loan etc etc...see whether he make a mistake and slip...

JUST REMEMBER DO NOT GIVE YOUR REAL INFORMATION TO THEM.

Recommend CPU upgrade - Intel C2D

Hi,

I'm currently have this specs:

Intel E4500@2.8Ghz
ATI 4850
Gigabyte EP35-DS3

I am thinking of upgrading the CPU. Budget should < RM600. What is the best CPU upgrade in this case?

E7200, E8400 or those quad core CPUs?

Will there be much difference going from my current CPU to E7200 or E8400?

Thanks.

How to set 2 sound source->2 sound card?

Dear All,

I need some help fast. I want to play a movie in my 2nd monitor which is an LCD TV via HDMI. The source source is provided by the graphic card onboard sound via HDMI (ATI 4850). At the same time, i want to play game in my primary monitor using my X-fi sound card.

So setup 1:
Primary monitor via DVI. Sound Blaster X-FI - to play games.
Secondary monitor via HDMI. ATI 4850 onboard sound - watch movies.

The windows audio setup only allow one default sound output. How to set different apps to different source and make it enable?

Thank you.

(And Gong Xi Fa Cai!)

Intel atom 330 - chipset fan sometimes loud?

I've this funny problem with my Intel Atom 330. Sometimes the fan seems really loud, sounds like ur car not enough power to go uphill and have to change to low gear...

But it only happens occasionally, i have opened the casing and make sure no cables is blocking the fan. There's only 2 fan in the casing, the northbridge 945 chipset fan and the PSU fan. I confirmed the sound is from the northbridge fan as i stopped it with my finger and immediately the sound gone.

On other occasions, when i blow the aircon directly to the PC (it is a mini-itx sitting under a rack under the air-cond), after 1 or 2 hours, when the CPU temp drops to really low (1 C!!!), the northbridge fan will go noisy again....so i don't blow down the air-cond directly to it anymore. But now, even without the aircond, sometimes it goes loud....

Really dunno what's going on....

The RPM of the northbridge fan is around 6xxx . Too fast for a small fan? Maybe i can change other fans?? Is there small northbridge fans that is silent?

Sony 200Hz/LG 480Hz LCD TV...more BS from SONY/LG?

First, we have the 100Hz wave attack LCD TVs. Frankly, i think the 100Hz are bull. My Sharp Aquos don't see any difference with the 100Hz thingy at all.

Furthermore, no matter how you interpolate the image, you are only making more blurry images.

Now, the geniuses at Sony delivers to you 200Hz... heck. What's the point when the sources are mainly 24/25/30 fps material???

So what do you guys think of it? I think the LCD TV industry is running out of fresh ideas to con consumers...

=====
Title amended thanks to Arj info on LG 480Hz LCD TV.

No audio playing RMVB files in VISTA Media Centre

I have the following problem. I wqant to play RMVB files using VISTA Media Centre but there's no sound in the output. I've already installed the latest K-Lite codec 1.3.4 Full. The files plays fine with Real Player, but no sound in Media Centre. The reason i want to use Media Centre is becoz my PC links up to my LCD TV and i have a MCE remote which can be used, so i can just lay on my bed and flip medias and videos.

Any ideas??
