Lou Jing (Shanghai Black Girl)

Lou Jing (1988- ) is a Chinese student from Shanghai who took part in the television talent show, “Let’s Go! Oriental Angel”, in 2009. Even though she lost she became famous in China because of the Internet firestorm she caused, bringing to light how racist China still is (old news to Tibetans and Uighurs). As Hung Huang put it:

In the same year that Americans welcome Obama to the White House, we can’t even accept this girl with a different skin colour.

One night during the show they brought out the families of the contestants. There on live television her mother told China that she had an affair with a black man who returned to America not knowing she was going to have his baby. Then her Chinese husband left her after he saw that the baby was black! She had to bring up Lou Jing on her own.

Pretty strong stuff for Chinese television. Most of the comments that I have seen are directed at the mother, calling her shameless for speaking openly about her affair. The father is stereotyped as a black buck.

Women who have children with foreigners are seen as race traitors. And yet Eurasians, those who are half Chinese and half white, are stereotyped as having more beauty and brains than most. Eurasians are common in fashion, entertainment and advertising.

For those who are half black it is not quite like that. It will be hard, for instance, for Lou Jing to get married. It is unclear whether her skin colour will stand in the way of achieving her dream of becoming a television host. Dark skin is looked down on. Chinese women buy skin creams to lighten their skin.

When Lou Jing was little her skin colour was not a big deal. But as she got older and went out in public more, people would ask her about it, mostly just curious. Others, though, were less kind, calling her names.

But then she went on the show and it got way worse.

The hosts of the show called her “Our Chocolate Girl” and “Black Pearl”, which might be innocent. But people on the Internet left no doubt what they thought, calling her things like “Black Chimpanzee”.

They were saying she was not truly Chinese – even though she was born in China, has lived in China all her life, speaks perfect Shanghai Chinese (to the surprise of many) and can sing Shanghai opera better than most.

Because she looks black American or black African to the Chinese, many believe she is not truly Chinese.

Time magazine would have you believe that is because China is backwards, unlike America. As if Asian Americans do not face the very same perpetual foreigner stereotype in America. Even blacks are not seen as truly American, not like how white people are – just think about Katrina and the Birthers.

Fake Eggs from China!

During a recent raid on a wholesale centre in Guangzhou city, the capital of China 's Guangdong province, a large quantity of fake eggs was seized.

Their wholesale price is 0.15 yuan (S$0.03) each - half the price of a real egg.

Consumers have a hard time telling a genuine egg from a fake one. This is good news for unscrupulous entrepreneurs, who are even conducting three-day courses in the production of artificial eggs for less than S$150. A reporter with Hong Kong-based Chinese magazine East Week enrolled in one such course.

To create egg white, the instructor - a woman in her 20s - used assorted ingredients such as gelatin, an unknown powder, benzoic acid, coagulating material and even alum, which is normally used for industrial processes.

For egg yolk, some lemon-yellow colouring powder is mixed to a liquid and the concoction stirred. The liquid is then poured into a round-shaped plastic mould and mixed with so-called 'magic water', which contains calcium chloride.

This gives the 'yolk' a thin outer membrane, firming it up. The egg is then shaped with a mould. The shell is not forgotten. Paraffin wax and an unidentified white liquid are poured onto the fake egg, which is then left to dry.

The artificial egg can be fried sunny-side up or steamed. Although bubbles appear on the white of the egg, those who have tasted it say the fake stuff tastes very much like the real thing.

But experts warn of the danger of eating fake eggs. Not only do they not contain any nutrients, a Hong Kong Chinese University professor warned that long-term consumption of alum could cause dementia

To make the egg white, various ingredients, including a powder and alum, are mixed together.

The 'yolk' is shaped in the round mould. 'Magic water' containing calcium chloride is used.

Hardy shells are formed by pouring paraffin wax and a liquid onto the egg, which are then left to dry.

Cabaran hasilkan filem epik fantasi Empayar : Dendam Tamingsari

Filem berlatarkan zaman kerajaan Melayu Melaka dan Majapahit membabitkan kos RM5 juta dan bakal menggunakan 70 peratus visual CGI

HASRAT penerbit filem ini ialah untuk melihat sebuah filem dalam skala besar, grandeur dan agung yang mampu menggambarkan zaman kegemilangan kerajaan kesultanan Melayu Melaka. Kesal dengan filem klasik dan epik tempatan yang sering gagal menunjukkan suasana gemilang kerajaan silam, maka atas inisiatif beliau, sebuah filem yang memfokus kepada kehebatan kerajaan dan wira zaman dulu digambarkannya menerusi filem epik fantasi Empayar: Dendam Tamingsari.

Mengambil semangat filem Hollywood seperti Lord of the Rings yang hebat menggunakan banyak imej janaan komputer (CGI) kerana mampu menzahirkan zaman silam yang gah dan kelihatan realistik, projek filem ini memulakan rekaan produksi bagi menggambarkan milieu zaman itu seperti istana Sultan Melaka, bahtera raja, pelabuhan yang sibuk dengan kapal dagangan, keraton Majapahit dan beberapa struktur binaan yang relevan pada zaman itu.

Produser filem itu yang juga Pengarah Urusan Cinequip Productions, Kamaruddin Abu mengakui ia satu tugas berat dan mencabar bagi menghasilkan Empayar: Dendam Tamingsari dalam skala besar membabitkan banyak penggunaan CGI kerana harus dibuat teliti bagi menggambarkan zaman kegemilangan kesultanan Melayu Melaka kira-kira 500 tahun yang lalu selain zaman keagungan kerajaan Majapahit.

“Kami di Cinequp Productions mahu mengangkat satu tahap baru filem epik tempatan dengan imej visual yang lebih kemas dan meyakinkan sesuai dengan cerita kehebatan zaman kerajaan Melaka dulu. Jika dulu kita sebut empayar Melaka tentu ia hebat dan gemilang, jadi kita mahu tengok semula dengan gambaran fantasi berlatarkan sejarah dan legenda. Kita mahu naikkan imej teknologi dan paparan zaman Melaka dalam filem Malaysia. Versi ini boleh membuatkan generasi muda akan bangga dengan sejarah asal usul tanah Melayu dan kini menjadi Malaysia.

“Saya akui watak Hang Tuah juga sudah banyak muncul dalam filem lain tetapi Hang Tuah dalam versi Empayar: Dendam Tamingsari dilihat dari sudut pandangan lain, namun kami tidak ketepikan fakta yang terdapat dalam Sejarah Melayu dan Hikayat Hang Tuah. Sebagai filem cereka, kami cuba beri fantasi yang jauh lebih menarik, kami warnakan kisah kegemilangan dulu dengan melihat semula apa kehebatan keris Tamingsari dan kenapa ia menjadi misteri dan terus disebut sehingga zaman kini.

“Empayar: Dendam Tamingsari melihat kisah zaman dulu dari segi politik dan perkahwinan, kekuasaan dan pengaruh serta kehebatan perwira kita zaman silam. Watak yang diwujudkan dalam filem ini ialah Sultan Mansor syah, Raja Majapahit, Tamingsari (pahlawan Majapahit), Hang Tuah, Tun Teja, Megat Panji Alam, Ketua Orang Bunian, Tun Perak, Raden galoh, Megat Panji Alam, Megat Kembar Ali, Sang Kelembai, Jin Air dan Jin Api. Ia juga ada elemen cinta iaitu mengenai konflik seorang wanita dan tiga lelaki iaitu tunang, kekasih dan suaminya.

“Kami merancang untuk jangka panjang untuk membuat tiga sekuel filem ini. Untuk sekuel pertama, ia kini dalam peribngkat akhir praproduksi dan penggambaran dijadualkan pada pertengahan tahun ini. Mengenai pelakon, ada beberapa watak sudah diputuskan tetapi untuk beberapa watak utama seperti hang Tuah dan Tun Teja, kami masih membuat proses casting. Saya juga tidka boleh beritahu siapa pengarah filem ini. Kami akan umumkan pada sidang media nanti,” kata Kamaruddin.

Mengenai bajet projek filem berkenaan, beliau berkata, sudah tentu untuk menghasilkan banyak visual CGI dan penyelidikan dan penelitian untuk setiap babak, kosnya menjadi agak mahal dan memerlukan pembiayaan daripada kerajaan kerana projek filem ini bukan untuk keuntungan semata-mata tetapi atas tanggungjawab kami pada bangsa dan negara.

“Sebenarnya projek filem ini sudah empat tahun dirancang tetapi kita bergerak perlahan-lahan kerana banyak buat kajian dan mencipta gambaran visual untuk CGI. Kos filem ini dijangka menelan belanja RM5 juta. Kami memperoleh dana menerusi duit syarikat, pinjaman dari Bank Pembangunan dan bantuan geran daripada Kementerian Sains teknologi dan Inovasi. Namun, jumlahnya belum cukup dan kami berharap ada pihak lain lagi yang boleh bekerjasama kami untuk menjadikan filem ini berjaya dihasilkan. Kos ini bukan sekadar praproduksi dan penggambaran tetapi persiapan untuk CGI dan proses selepas penggambaran dan promosi. Setakat ini perbelanjaan yang digunakan sudah lebih RM600,000.

“Empayar: Dendam Tamingsari adalah manisfestasi sebuah filem Malaysia yang bertanggungjawab untuk mengembalikan semula kenangan fanatasi mengenai kehebatan zaman kerajaan Melayu Melaka di Tanah Melayu,” kata Kamaruddin ketika ditemui di pejabatnya di Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, baru-baru ini. Turut sama, Penerbit Eksekutif filem itu, Mohd Mazren Datuk Mohd Mazlan.

Pereka Produksi filem itu, Raja Aznil Raja Hisham pula berkata, Empayar: Dendam Tamingsari menggabungkan elemen sejarah, legenda dan fantasi, maka rekaan dan corak untuk visual filem itu harus memperlihatkan gambaran kehebatan zaman dulu dan bagaimana sesuatu peristiwa itu berlaku secara logik, ada daulat dan kuasa luar biasa.

“Di mana kegemilangan dulu? Sekarang tidak ada lagi kesan sejarah yang menggambarkan kehebatan zaman Melaka dulu kerana kajian mendapati apabila Portugis menakluk Melaka pada 1511, mereka terus merobohkan kota dan pusat binaan Melayu. Ke mana pergi rekaan dan arkitektur kita. Dulu, ada binaan batu untuk masjid, istana dan dinding istana Sultan Melaka tetapi Portugis runtuhkan dan gunakan batu itu untuk bina kota mereka. Kajian dapati istana Melaka dulu terletak di Bukit St Paul sekarang tetapi apa yang ada sekarang binaan lain.

“Apabila kita sebut empayar kerajaan Melaka dulu, tentu ia hebat dan gemilang dan kita kena berfantasi semula zaman kegemilangan itu. Kami banyak buat penyelidikan dan hasilnya nanti akan diserapkan dalam imej CGI filem ini. Sebagai orang filem, kami ada lesen kreatif untuk memberi gambar yang boleh membuatkan masyarakat berbangga dan kagum dengan keagungan kerajaan melayu Melaka dulu.

“Begitu juga pakaian. Kalau dalam filem Melayu klasik atau filem purba, selalunya imej pakaian ialah imej kain lusuh, selain cuma berbaju Melayu, bertengkolok dan bersampin tetapi kajian dapati orang dulu juga hebat dari segi fesyen dan jenis fabrik bermutu. Takkan orang dulu apabila pergi perang masih pakai baju Melayu, sampin, tengkolok dan capal? Mereka juga ada pakaian seragam tentera. Rotan dan kulit juga sudah dijadikan pakaian, malah kayu dan besi juga sudah digunakan untuk pakaian seram tentera Melaka ketika berperang, termasuk senjata.

“Kami cuma beri gambaran yang memperlihatkan kehebatan zaman kerajaan Melayu Melaka kerana ia terkenal di seluruh dunia dan ada hubungan dengan China, Parsi dan India. Ini filem epik fantasi dan aksi romance, tentunya kita berikan imej sesuai dan boleh dibanggakan. Kita mahu generasi muda kita menghargai wira silam kita dulu, bukan saja Hang tuah tetapi kenal secara dekat siapa Hang Jebat, Hang Lekir, Hang Kasturi dan Hang Lekiu.

“Kami cuba bermain dengan fantasi dan merujuk kepada fakta yang ada... kalau kami mungkin tersasar dari segi gambaran ini, beritahu kami apa lagi yang sesuai dan tepat seperti pakaian atau struktur rumah orang dulu. Kita mahu naikkan imej filem Malaysia dan imej kerajaan Melayu zaman silam. Untuk tata busana, produksi filem ini akan hasilkan pakaian sesuai mengikut watak dan insiden babak, selain kita akan ambil pakaian dari wardrobe tetapi akan diubah suai.

“Dari segi imej rambut, orang dulu sebenarnya bukan sekadar berambut panjang tetapi ada fesyen ala punk, tak terurus dan ala pasta. Jenis senjata pula, bukan saja lembing, tombak dan keris tetapi gasing tajam, kerambit tiga mata, panah api dan pedang pelbagai saiz. Tentera Melaka dulu juga sebenarnya lengkap dengan pakaian seragam dan senjata. CGI akan banyak membantu untuk memberi gambaran imej watak dalam filem ini kelak.

Bagi Pengarah CGI untuk filem berkenaan, Alan Wong, apa yang mencabar bagi dirinya ialah untuk menyediakan CGI dari segi kekuatan imaginasi supaya Empayar: Dendam Tamingsari bakal kelihatan realistik dan gah pada visualnya.

“Ia mencabar kerana ini benda baru bagi menggambarkan kehebatan kerajaan Melayu zaman dulu, kita tidak mahu buat benda atau imej yang sama. Kita kena siapkan gambaran set, subset dan props dalam CGI sebelum penggambaran sebenar bermula supaya hasilnya berkesan. Keseluruhannya untuk projek filem ini, sebanyak 70 peratus ialah CGI iaitu kira-kira 40 babak. Tempoh filem ini nanti ialah 110 minit.

“Saya juga kena banyak berbincang dengan penerbit dan pereka produksi untuk mendapatkan corak rekaan sebenar yang mahu divisualkan menerusi CGI dua dimensi (2D) dan tiga dimensi (3D) mengikut babak. Kini kami sedang giat memproses imej bahtera, istana, keraton Majapahit dan beberapa imej jin, Sang Kelembai dan persekitaran alam bunian. Saya ada dua pasukan yang melakukan kerja CGI membabitkan 15 petugas,” kata Alan yang juga Pengarah Urusan DNA Studios.

I.R.I.F.F. (Islamic Republic of Iran Football Federation) is under critics for using Daei sportswear for its national team.

The case becomes more interesting while I.R.I.F.F. (Islamic Republic of Iran Football Federation) even has payed Daei company for the kits.

Everywhere in the world, Companies pay millions to sponsor a national team.
In Iran, its different.

I.R.I.F.F. (Islamic Republic of Iran Football Federation) officials say they are negotiating with Puma, Adidas,a brand from turkey and one other german brand. and for Futsal they are negotiating with an italian brand.

Therefor they have payed daei, and will wait untill they sign with a major company. And more stupid is that they say the ardebil camp was suddenly arranged and they needed a sponsor. (tháts why they bought 20 kits from Daei) What the hell happend to Majid (Merooj) kits ?

Football at the 2008 Summer Olympics is being held in Beijing and several other cities in the People's Republic of China from 6 August to 23 August. Associations affiliated with FIFA are invited to send their full women's national teams and men's U-23 teams to participate. Men's teams are allowed to augment their squad with three players over the age of 23.

For these games, the men will compete in a 16-team tournament, and the women will compete in a 12-team tournament. Football preliminaries actually commence two days before the Opening Ceremony of the Games on 8 August.

Ex-minister plays Admiral Cheng Ho in ASEAN film

Prof. Yusril Ihza Mahendra, former minister/state secretary, is currently in Bangkok for shooting a drama colossal film on Admiral Cheng Ho.

Yusril played the role as Admiral Cheng Ho in the film jointly produced by six member countries of ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations).

The former minister told ANTARA here on Wednesday that the film having duration of 48 minutes would cost around US$3 million and involved about 6,000 actors and actresses from six ASEAN member countries.

Another former Indonesian minister, Shaifullah Yusuf, also joined the film and played as a Majapahit king.

The film would be produced in 26 episodes. The film is expected to be shown simultaneously on television stations in the six ASEAN member countries early 2008.

According to Yusril, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono also supported the joint ASEAN film production. The production process being held at Kantana Studio in Bangkok has reached 30 percent, he said.

Cheng Ho was born around 1371 in China`s southwestern Yunan Province (just north of Laos) with the name Ma Ho. Ma Ho`s father was a Muslim hajji (who had made a pilgrimage to Mecca) and the family name of Ma was used by Muslims in representation of the word Mohammad.

Based on an imperial edict his first of seven or perhaps eight voyages in Asian waters took him from 1405 to 1407 to Java and Sumatra.

Two Former Ministers Turn To Acting

Two former Indonesian ministers who were ousted from the cabinet of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono recently are now film stars in the making.

They were enlisted in a 26-episode drama about Admiral Cheng Ho which involves about 6,000 artistes from six Asean countries.

Former State Secretary Prof Yusril Ihza Mahendra has been given the lead role as Admiral Cheng Ho.

He is now in Bangkok for the filming of the drama series along with former State Minister for Development of Backward Regions, Saifullah Yusuf who is playing the role of the Majapahit King.

Antara's report from Bangkok quoted Yusril as saying that the drama which would have a 48-minute episode each cost US$3 million (RM10.5 million) to produce.

Yusril said the drama, currently being shot at Kantana Studio in Bangkok and already 30 per cent underway, was fully supported by President Susilo.

The drama which depicts Cheng Ho's role in propagating Islam in Indonesia is expected to be televised simultaneously in six Asean countries by early 2008.

At the height of the Ming Dynasty in the 14th century, Cheng Ho led a fleet of 357 ships with 27,800 crew members.

His travels had taken him to Melaka, Sumatra, Java, India, West Asia and East Africa.

Germany's DFB Slammed For Rejecting Nike Deal

The DFB, German soccer's governing body, has been widely criticised for rejecting a 500 million (US$682.4 million) deal with Nike, the sports equipment manufacturer, to remain with long-standing partner Adidas until 2018.

The national association announced today that it had agreed a deal with Adidas worth 20 million (US$27.2 million) a year, plus 5 million (US$6.8 million) a year in youth development and grass roots soccer funding, ending a long-running dispute between the two parties over the length of the contract.

However, the DFB's decision has been described as a missed opportunity by not only Nike, but also the German Football League (DFL) and several of its member clubs, after the DFB elected to reject an offer worth around three times that proposed by Adidas.

In January, Nike had attempted to break up Adidas' long-standing association with the DFB by offering the federation a 62.5 million (US$85 million) a year, eight-year deal from 2011 to 2018.

Adidas' existing contract was worth 10 million (US$13.6 million) to 11 million (US$15 million) a year, a sum it will continue to pay until 2011 when the new contract kicks in.

Hubertus Hoyt, the head of Nike Germany, described the DFB's choice as "the biggest loss in the history of German football, no matter how the decision was arrived at and who holds the responsibility for it".

Nonzee Nimibutr, the director credited with Thailand's cinematic renaissance, veers into historical fantasy with his fifth feature, 'Queen of Lankasuka'

The palace is a quasi-Javanese structure of real wood and fake gold. A plush divan sits in front of a throne, upon which a royal emblem is intricately carved. Dust glistens in the shaft of light. At one corner, a large canvas partitions a bedchamber on which an injured general lies. He wears a strange mask that covers half of his scarred face. Two servant girls in shoulder-baring costumes attend to him, and when the princess enters they bow and leave the set, allowing the lady a moment of romantic privacy with the man who's just saved her life.

There will be quite a number of life-saving stunts and palace intrigue - as well as eye-bulging whale attacks, sea-gypsy sorcery and political string-pulling - in Nonzee Nimibutr's new undertaking. The director originally called his film Queen of Pattani. Aware how sensitive that title could sound considering the current southern spat, Nonzee has decided to rename his 140-million-baht historical fantasy Queen of Lankasuka, after the ancient kingdom in the Malay peninsula.

"Queen of Lankasuka" is Nonzee Nimibutr's boldest endeavour.

"Yes, the original title was a little too blunt," the director says during a break from the hectic shoot at a giant studio in Min Buri. "There's really no need for something like that now."

Nonzee's fifth feature film will be his biggest and boldest, financially and perhaps politically. The man who's credited as the force that kick-started the renaissance of Thai cinema in the late 1990s with Dang Bireley and Nang Nak is crafting what is destined to become one of the most extravagant Siamese productions - second only to Suriyothai. The script of Queen of Lankasuka, or Puen Yai Jom Salat, has been written by Sea-Write winner Win Leowarin, and it involves ambitious sequences such as CG-enhanced underwater scuffles, a couple of magical adventures with giant whales and deep-sea creatures, a feisty cannon battle among the warring parties, and locations as disparate as sea gypsy villages and the pirates' gunships.

Shooting began in early August at Koh Si Chang in Chon Buri. The crew will complete the interior scenes at the Min Buri studio, before continuing to Krabi and Phang-nga for the seascape action. Hold your breath, the film will take at least a year to finish, but its magnitude and ambition have already grabbed the attention of insiders and international buyers. The Bangkok Post is the first press allowed by Nonzee to visit his set.

"The idea came when I was researching my last film, Okay Betong, which took me around the southern provinces," says the director, whose previous work is about an ex-monk who goes to live in the southern township of Betong. "I became aware that we knew so little about the place, the people and the history of the region. There are so many stories worth telling."

Action star Chupong "Diew" Changprung flexes his muscles as Lankasuka's fearless general.

Among them is the story of the three queens who ruled Lankasuka successively in the 16th century. An independent state, Lankasuka was constantly under the threat of foreign powers bent on capturing this strategic port city. From the historical accounts, which Nonzee retrieved from Malaysian archives, the script seasons the tale with marauding pirates and sorcerers called Du-lum, who have the supernatural gift of communicating with sea creatures.

"I think the story of women who governed the country in a time of political uncertainty has a strength in it," says Nonzee. "And it's a story that we've never heard of before. Most characters in this film are based on true historical personalities, including the Du-lum sorcerers, who're now practicing their special talent by helping local fishermen locate schools of fish. But of course, in the film we add elements of fantasy to make it an adventure story that's more accessible to the people."

It is to be expected that any sharp political pinpricks, especially those concerning the stormy relationship between Ayutthaya and Lankasuka (or Pattani?), will be buried beneath the sumptuous weight of the gold-gilded sets. Queen of Lankasuka will centre on the three sister queens (played by veteran Jarunee Suksawasdi and newcomers Jacky Finanso and Anna Rees) who seek help from a Chinese cannon master and a sea wizard (played by Ananda Everingham) to counter the threat of a rogue prince and his clique of savage pirates who practice a particularly sinister brand of black magic. Jessadaporn "Tik" Poldee plays a Malay prince who adds complication in terms of a love interest, while new action star Chupong "Diew" Changprung will have plenty of screen time to flex his muscles as Lankasuka's fearless general.

The ethno-geography of the film's exotic setting works like a colourful Orientalist fusion. The cast consists mainly of yummy-looking East-West hybrids, but from the look of the set, Queen of Lankasuka will display a sombre mix of Malay, Javanese and classical Siamese visual flavours. According to Nonzee, this was the pre-Islamic period of Lankasuka and Hinduism was still the main spiritual force. "But we won't specify those details in the movie," says the director. "The architecture, too, is based on our historical research, though what we've built here is not the replica of any particular palace. It's all imagination, but one that's firmly based on fact."

He's gathered so many facts during two years of research that Nonzee and his writer originally planned a trilogy of films. But as his studio, Sahamongkol Film, is facing a difficult stretch due to the illness of its big boss, Somsak Techaratanaprasert, such a grandiose scheme has been abandoned for the time being. Nonzee will have his first Queen of Lankasuka, but whether there'll be a second is better discussed later.

Over half of the 140-million-baht budget will be spent on conjuring up the set, supervised by award-winning art director Ake Eium-chuen. And a big chunk of the money will surely go into the special effects - the battle of sting rays, the havoc of whales and the pirates' explosive campaigns against the walled city of Lankasuka. Nonzee has built his reputation as a Thai filmmaker who puts great effort into raising hand-made production values, and this is the first time his vision will be fulfilled by the digital wizardry of computers.

"I worried at first, but I'm sure we have an efficient special effects team working with us," says the director. "And most importantly, I've given them enough time to create the look that I want. I'm not telling them to finish everything in two months - I'm giving them a year. And I'm pleased with the some of the work they've already done."

Whether Nonzee's film will supply a metaphor, albeit vague, about the ongoing tensions between the South and the Central remains to be seen. He tried it once in 2004's Okay Betong, though the message didn't quite get across. But what's certain is that Queen of Lankasuka, if not anything else, will be ready to boast its sheer spectacle a year from now. You'd better start watching out for the whales.

Nike Helps Create a Sporty Hijab

I love it when companies think about the community and become nike hijab involved globally in humanitarian efforts. It's one thing to make money, but it's another thing to make money and give back to the community.

Take Nike - they're working with the United Nations to provide young refugee women in Kenya uniforms in the fashion of hijabs so that they can play volleyball more comfortably. The hijab is the traditional dress of muslim women that covers their head and is draped over their bodies.

Nike sent designers to Dadaab, Kenya to help the girls with the design of the volleyball uniform. The designers are showing them how to sew the outfits themselves. Nike will be donating material to make several hundred uniforms.
