Guys,

Very disturbing news indeed. My father's Wira, reg. num. WHK 7328 (dark green wira sedan, 1.8 DOHC, quite old already) got stolen this morning, suspected during midnight. Vehicle parked right in front of our house. When we woke up this morning, we found the car missing.

Kindly PM me if you guys indeed sighted this car around. Police report has been made.

On the other hand, it would be nice if someone could shed a little bit information what can we expect after police report has been made, insurance wise and stuff.

Good day people,

I designed quite number of websites for my clients, most of them are corporate clients. Im well equipped with designs skills, flash and have basic knowledge in actionscript, php, html and xml. recently i just finished learning loading xml files in flash. This enables me to develop a Flash site and extract the content directly from xml file (text, content including images, videos and swf). So this presents me with the opportunity for my clients to edit their website content only by editing the xml file.

but, all of my clients is a normal users. they don't know squad about coding. I use dreamweaver and sometimes notepad to edit xml files. So i need an online XML editor so my clients can log-in and edit the content, specifically the XML files in their own browser.

let say this is the XML file for my client's website; their 'about us' page. So i need a tools for my clients to log-in and edit it in WYSIWYG forms, then save. the the page automatically updated with the new text.

i dun need complicated database, just edit those particular pages.

im not so familiar with xml technologies/coding. this online tools must work in windows and linux webserver.

i hope all u sifu could help me and point to the right directions. give me your thoughts too. Might willing to pay to develop this tools.

Artwork Storage Solutions - for Graphic Designers

Hi people,

I would like to know how u guys store/backup/dump your media (artworks, resources) data?

is it on 1 local HD? NAS? server?

Im interested to know how other people do this in large scale.

Reason im asking this is because, in my studio, i use 1 not-so-old PC and slap 2 250GB HD in there, running winXP and share it throughout my LAN. So my designers can have access to the files/artwork/media easily (for both PC & MAC). But now I want to expand the storage plus expand the capabilities of the server (such as RAID and stuff).

i can always buy ext hdd casing but i want it more on long-term and large scale. perhaps can have the ability like FTP, so i could access the data anywhere, anytime.

things that always concern in this NAS/storage server is:
1) speed. (imagine doing few hundreds MBs of artwork straight shared from the network. its gonna take sweet time!)
2) reliability. backup backup backup!

share your thoughts/experience please.

Hello people,

Just now while came back from Friday prayers nearby Bangsar, my car back door window smashed. Damn!

The thief took my backpack which contains my international passport and office keys. I reckon they think that is laptop bag <--- how desperate thief this days huh?

anyway, thank god nothing happen to me and my car, other than the back door window smashed to pieces. made a police report already.

so for other people beware on your cars. even a normal bag like mine will attract thief attention. Dont leave anything valuable inside your ride.

How much to replace for new glass? i dont think it covers in warranty or what. im not gonna claim frm insurance anyway. So can someone recommend me glass workshop nearby shah alam or glenmarie or subang area?

hi ppl,

my hand itchy on those HD stuffs and since i already have a HD LCD TV, so i decided to build a HD HTPC.

Overview:

1. Im a movie freak, currently i have a database of downloaded HD movies (mostly 720p), viewing them from my laptop (HP DV6208tx) connect it thru VGA cable to my LCD TV. And the quality is amazing (a bit tweaking of FFDShow & Media Player Classic). So im moving towards HD stuffs, mainly HD-DVD
2. In the 1st place, im thinking to get a stand-alone HD-DVD (toshiba cost around RM1300 plus shipping from b&hphoto). but it will confine me only to play those HD-DVD only.

Objective:

1. To play HD-DVD smoothly @ 1080p, displaying highest possible picture quality.
2. To play HD movies (mainly nHd, mkv) smoothly.
3. HCDP system
4. Occasional games. most of the games i play is (NFS and some other racing games, not into those hi-end games like Bio-shock, far cry etc etc).
5. Near silent system operation. (i dont want to watch transformers HD-DVD while hearing cooler fan sound)
6. Reasonable cost.

I need inputs/opinions from you guys regarding short-term investments, monthly deposits/saving. Im new in this investment area. hope you guys can help me.

Here the situation. I planned to put aside some amount from my salary to a savings. Let say im willing to put aside RM250 monthly. Is there any deposits/savings account that offer this kind of facility and the same time allow me to earn daily interest?

I came across this HSBC Power Vantage with Easy Grow, whereby we need to deposit min RM250 and earn daily interest (3.71% if im not mistaken). Can someone kind enough show me the calculation if i save RM250 in this account for 2-3yrs? how much i could earn from this?

or you guys have better options what to do with my RM250 for savings. Or, RM250 not enough to yield appropriate earnings and just dump it in normal savings account?

oh ya, I have an ASB loan account. but thats for another 4 years before i withdraw all of it.

Hi folks,

My System : HP dv6203tx Pavilion Notebook
Windows Vista Home Premium

I just bought this 320GB Seagate IDE Hard Disk and CoolerMaster X-Craft USB 2.0 yesterday. So, installation was not very hassle. After formatting the drive, i check at Computer Management that my new drive is stated as 298.09gb. Is this normal? I cant get full 320GB or very close to it?

Im a noob can someone guide me? Thanks!

i hope this is in the right thread.

im trying to help one of my fren here. He went for a job (data entry) and required a pay (i already suspected scam there) and he paid (i think around RM130++) and until now there is no job for him.. (gone RM130++)

until now he keep trying to contact that company and asking for refund or a job. the secreatary that pick up the phone keep mentioning to contact their customer service department, but the line always busy and cant get through (trying for over 2 months)

But, he mentioned to me that the company is an established company (in terms of office and premises and stuff) and while he went for an interview there, theres a lot of people went for that interview.

So, i guess calling the company is no longer effective. So can u suggest me a solution, as a consumer and a worker to solve this problem? is there any chance to get back my fren's money? any experienced forummer can share their wisdom? Thanks guys

HP after sales service rocks!

Last month i bought a HP Pavilion dv6203tx Notebook. the notebook is awesome! and serve my purpose well.. no problem what-so-ever, and im happy towards my decision on HP.

then, last week, i notice one black dot (which is referred to a 'dots always off' whereby a dark dot appear on a bright screen) appears in my notebook's LCD. i was in shocked! im afraid i might experience a dead pixel situation. i gone to HP support website a read information regarding LCD replacement issues. It clearly stated that only 5 dots will be replaced. im in shocked again! coz i only have 1 dot. so i give a HP serivce centre a call. Then the nice guy explain to me that yes its true, under HP policy, only LCD with 5 dots will be replaced. Then i ask for recommendation, then he told me to bring the notebook to HP service centre (located at HP tower, Damansara) for checkup.

then i took my notebook to the HP service Centre. My first experience when i entered the service centre department was magnificent (there is an area specifically meant for servicing, warranty claims etc etc). the cool and corporate ambience in the service department tempts me. that was the 1st time being there, so i was look around like a lost person looking for a guide. Then a nice young man with a HP shirt on smiling at me and offer me assistance. He gave me the ticket number and i go along and sat on very nice, stuffy sofa there was a free coffee for HP customers. then when just when my coffee finished, my numbers were up.

the lady (person who at the counter) entertain my situation. She was very nice and polite. I explain my problem and she asked me to 'on' the notebook so she can look at the screen. When the screen appears, she notice the dot. and she explain to me that the dot appear on my screen is not a dead pixel. She said dead pixels will always quite bright and clear. So, she said she gonna take my notebook to her technician to conform. then right after 2 mins, she came back. She said that its definately not a dead pixel. Its an abnormality of the pixel.

Im a simple guy, and straight foward, I dont care why its happen. so i asked how to fix it? is it cover under my 1yr limited warranty? than she offer me a solution. She advise me to lodge a report stating that there is abnormality on my LCD screen and i didnt please with it. with this report, HP will replace a new lcd screen for my notebook, with no cost (as under my warranty) Yeay!

it will be ready in 3 days.

I dont know what cause the problem, maybe a knock or just a bad luck i guess. what ever it is, its gonna be good as new in 3 days.
So, im glad HP after sales service is excellent. for those u out there still doubt on HP, this is my story. i wish all corporate companies in malaysia provide after sales service like this. I dont mind paying extra for this. dont only cares about ppl's money, offer them a solution.

So, im a happy person with no worries. my experience there just makes me eager to purchase extended warranty from HP to cover my notebook for another 3 good years. I know Dell's onsite service is good, but its alright with HP

dunno whether i post in the right thread but anyways as topic...

im planning to get a wireless boradband (3.5G Celcom, RM120 per month) in the coming future. I have a notebook but only equip with expresscard (no PCMCIA). So my choice for modem is through phone or datacard (USB modem)

1. planning to get phone as 3.5G modem, model in mind is motorolla V3XX or Samsung Z560 HSDPA. both cost around 1300

2. Huawei USB HSDPA modem cost around 1400 by Celcom

So my question is which method is preferred medium to connect to the internet? Or is it the same? Has different speed? bottlenecks? Hope ppl here with experience can give me insights. Thanks in advance
