PDF thumbnail not showing anymore...

It was working a few days ago, but now suddenly I don't have thumbnails for
PDF's in windows explorer (vista sp1)

I have all the settings correct to see them as thumbnails since I see jpgs
as thumbnails for example so its not a setting in windows.

I have tried to uninstall and install acrobat 9.1 again and again as
administrator user of course, I have tried making it a default application
for pdfs again and again..

but NO GO!

there is a dll that does this thumbnail extraction called PDFShell.dll...

I even tried to register is from a command line as admin ( by right clicking
on the cmd in the start menu and selecting run as administrator) but I got
the message:

The module "PDFShell.dll" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer
failed with the error code 0×80070005

WTF I am admin and I want to register the dll and I cant? This should not be
happening... I took a look at the registry permissions but they seem ok.. as
far as I can see...

I have no idea why this is not working.. this is so frustrating Im thinking
of formatting vista and reinstalling but its just too much work only for
this...

I use pdfs all the time and I want to see them via windows explorer....

any help..? I believe it has something to do with registry permissions, even
though I am an administrator
Need For Speed: Shift

QUOTE

It seems EA's long-idling racing franchise isn't destined for the scrap heap at all, as the publisher has unveiled three new Need for Speed titles across several platforms. In an interview with Gamespot, EA's veep of marketing, Kevin Munro, insists that "the new brand strategy around three specific genres will keep the game fresh and players entertained." This refreshing and oh-so-entertaining trio of titles includes:

* Need for Speed: Shift (PS3, Xbox 360, PC, PSP) -- A "hardcore racing simulation" overseen by Black Box executive producer Michael Mann, and Patrick Soderlund, the co-founder of DICE and current senior vice president of EA Games Europe. External developer Slightly Mad Studios will be responsible for putting a realistic spin on the franchise.
* Need for Speed: Nitro (Wii, DS) -- As you might expect, this one will feature a "unique visual style," courtesy of EA Montreal. Nitro promises to take full advantage of the unique controls on offer for both platforms, but without sacrificing depth. According to Munro, "We do not want to fall into the trap of creating a 'Need for Speed Lite.'"
* Need for Speed: World Online (PC) -- Jointly developed by Black Box and EA Shanghai, this free-to-play online racer is set to launch in Asia this Summer, with a North American release slated for next Winter.

You can look for Shift and Nitro on North American shelves sometime during Fall 2009. We'll update as soon as we satiate our early-morning need for speed and overt drug references.

Sauce 1

QUOTE

LOS ANGELES – Electronic Arts is steering the popular "Need for Speed" franchise in a new direction.

The video game publisher announced plans Friday to spin off the 15-year-old racing series into three driving games on different platforms. The new games will speed into three separate genres — simulation, action and arcade racing.

"It's all about crafting different games for different audiences," said Keith Munro, EA marketing vice president. "The 'Need for Speed' brand is quite powerful. It has great recognition, even outside of gaming. When we talked to consumers about what the brand meant to them, we realized that it could be stretched to new limits on different platforms."

The new games, expected to be released later this year, are "Need for Speed Shift," a first-person racing simulation for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360; "Need for Speed World Online," a multiplayer action-driving game for the PC; and "Need for Speed Nitro," an arcade-style racing game developed by EA Montreal for the Nintendo Wii and DS.

"In the past, our 'Need for Speed' games have done very well on all platforms," Munro said. "We just think we can do better with this new plan. We actually have the opportunity to devote an entirely new studio and development team to the creation of a from-the-ground-up Nintendo-only 'Need for Speed' game. We didn't have those resources available before."

Munro said EA Black Box, the Canadian developer that created every previous "Need for Speed" game, has been collaborating with developer Slightly Mad Studios on "Need for Speed Shift" and EA Singapore on "Need for Speed World Online." He also said Black Box is continuing to work on a new action driving game, despite recent companywide layoffs.

"They will still be very much involved in the development of 'Need for Speed' products," Munro said. "Over the years, we've asked the Black Box team to deliver a new 'Need for Speed' game every year. We've gone to a couple of new studios to deliver next fall's games to inject freshness into the category and give the Black Box team time to retrench."

The new games have been in development for two years. The original "Need for Speed" was released in 1994 for the 3DO, PC, PlayStation and Sega Saturn systems. The most recent game, "Need for Speed Undercover," was released last November for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Wii and PC.

Sauce 2

[Suggestion] Mobile Computing QnA

I would like to suggest mobile computing Q&A as the main forum instead of the current sub forum
Then create a "Laptop/PDA specific Discusssion" as a subforum, then move all the specific thread into it.
The concept is something like the Handphones & Communication section with the phone specific discussion where owners of a specific phone gathers.
This can be applied to all owners of a specific laptop.

This is suggested because everyday I see lots of thread being opened in the main forum of mobile computing and in the end all being moved to the Q&A sub-forum.

Nicely Wrapped Book in Book Store

How often do you come across a bookstore which keep all their books nicely wrapped?
You do not even have the chance of browsing through the book to see whether it's worth buying or not.
Popular bookstore in Penang area always have their books wrapped up nicely. As for Borders, they do not wrap their books and everyone is free to browse through it (except for the manga which is considered as collectable items).
So, have your say, do u think all the books should be wrapped up nicely so the public will not damage the books by browsing through it??
Or they should let everyone read it before buying ??

Hi,

I wanted to transfer some money to my friend's CIMB bank account through Maybank2u, but failed.
This is shown:
Status: Unsuccessful - Transaction declined. Reject code: [0089]
I wondered what happened? My limit to both 3rd party and interbank transfer is set at RM2,000 and the amount that I'm transferring is less than the limit. Any idea wat to do?

Thanks.
