Malaysia business attitude

"Taxi drivers complain they can hardly make three trips a day and this is insufficient for them to pay their instalments”

http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=...6120&sec=nation

My business interpretation
1. Demand for cabs from LCCT is not sufficient to support existing LCCT cabs. However it does not mean overall demand for transportation from LCCT is low. For example, do you want to pay RM 60 cab fare when cost of your flight ticket is RM 60?

2. In Malaysia, if you (independent operator) does not have sufficient profit, you can complain to government.

What is your interpretation from business point of view?

Why Malaysia broadband is more expensive?

For RM 88 or S$37, we get 1Mbps plan (advertised rate) in Malaysia. However for S$35, you can get 8Mbps plan from Singnet (http://www.singnet.com.sg/plans_and_services/broadband/snbb.asp?snbb=8Matl).

So what are the reasons broadband is more expensive in Malaysia?

The usual reason given is Malaysia is bigger, so more costs required for cables and other equipments. This may be true in the beginning.

Another reason given is lack of competition. We may have at least 2 nationwide 3G broadband providers, but we have monopoly for wired broadband area.

Please enlighten me :-)

P.S. Try not to complain in this thread, there are many other threads for complaining.

Internet slow? Try Singapore proxy

Singapore Youtube proxy

proxy IP -
proxy port -
proxy id -
proxy password -
valid period - 16 and 17 April 2009

Notes
1. Singapore proxy is useful when your connection to Singapore is better. Test your connection speed to Singapore using speedtest.sg
2. The proxy is configured to allow viewing of videos stored in servers with domain, e.g. youtube.com. Some videos are stored in a server with no domain. These videos will be shown as 'not available'.

Singapore web proxy - free trial

Main reason for Singapore web proxy is improved browsing speed for overseas sites. Most Malaysia ISPs, e.g. Streamyx have better connection speed with Singapore servers than other overseas sites. By using a Singapore web proxy, you can browse other overseas sites at connection speed with the proxy.

Trial dates : 4/6/08 (Wednesday) 8pm to 5/6/08 (Thursday) 11pm

Reasons for free trial
1. Blog marketing. See my signature.
2. Test proxy server during peak residential Internet usage period and for broadband users with speed more than 1Mbps. Previous trial can be found here.

Those who try the proxy, please post your Los Angeles speed test result (http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest) using this thread.

1. ISP, e.g. streamyx
2. Location , e.g. Puchong, Selangor
3. Los Angeles download speed(without proxy)
4. Los Angeles download speed(with proxy)
5. Date & time, e.g. 5/6/08 2pm

Information about the Singapore web proxy is shown below:
6/6/08 - test period is over.

If you want to get your own Singapore proxy, refer to this little guide.

Celcom broadband : RM68 == no HSDPA

I am a Celcom broadband subscriber. Usually I can get HSDPA connection during daytime. However for the past few days, I cannot get HSDPA connection, e.g. speed < 100kbps. Has Celcom changed the policy that RM68 package subscriber cannot enjoy HSDPA?
