Duplicate files and folders

recently the pc in my office has a weird problem.
the files and folders in my thumbdrive are in pairs (duplicate).

duplicate means:
QWERTY.doc and QWERTY.doc
ASDF(folder) and ASDF(folder)

i know that it seems weird. u can't have 2 files/folders with the same filename exist at the same place.

if i delete the first ASDF(folder), i get this message:

there'll be an OK button. after pressing the OK button, the ASDF(folder) disappear. then, the second ASDF(folder) cannot be opened, and vice versa. it poped up corrupted sth..same goes to the doc or xls files.

I'm using Kaspersky with the latest updates and definition. heuristic and other security options all set to the max for best protection. please help.

this is not brontok as i know the brontok symptoms:
QWERTY.doc and QWERTY.exe, or;
ASDF(folder) and ASDF.exe

there's no hidden files or whatever autorun crap. (tested on other pc too)

i have received this mail recently in my hotmail. i have received 2 identical mail..different date.

no DTS sound. why?

i'm using Media Player Classic 6.4.9.1 with AC3filter 1.46, running Vista 32bit. Dolby Digital sound is OK. but there's no DTS sound coming out from my speaker. inside the AC3filter config tool, i've tick "use ac3filter for dts". what's wrong?

Car alarm siren

I just bought a cap-ayam car alarm siren from a car accessory shop that cost RM40. the shop keeper tells me that it's 12V cos it's running on car battery. (there's no wording/rating written on this siren). when tested at the shop using a transformer, it sounds normal..."eeuu...eeuu...eeuu".

the purpose for me buying the siren is to DIY an alarm system for my hostel room. when somebody opens the door, the door closes a switch, thus completing a circuit which triggers the siren.

back to the siren. when i bring it back and tested with my transformer/ power adaptor (which converts household 240VAC to output rated at 12VDC, max 2A), it doesn't sound "eeuu...eeuu...eeuu". what i heard is weird sound. i thought i'm wrong abut the polarity, so i reverse the connection...and no sound.

i google around and found out that most siren works around 600mA to 1200mA. should i isolate the power output of my power adaptor? or is my current output not enough? any other method to test the siren?

Quicktime laggy

I'm using Vista Ultimate and Quicktime 7.4.1

I have problem playing MOV files with quicktime. when i go to www.apple.com/trailers to view those movie trailers, everything was fine. playback was smooth. when i play the mov file in my hard disk using quicktime player, it's laggy. so, i try to play that file in IE, it's laggy too, and finally crashed the IE. i try to play with media player classic...same thing...laggy. i have never experience this when i was using XP.

FYI, this is not a HD video. i understand HD video may lags on some pc.

do u guys have this problem?

Surround speakers setup mod

I have a set of surround speakers:

Front:
1 left speaker
1 right speaker

1 left woofer
1 right woofer

Center:
1 speaker

Rear:
1 left speaker
1 right speaker

These speakers are taken off from a mini hifi system. unluckily, the main unit spoil
already. so, i plan to connect these speakers to an amplifier/receiver/decoder. i'm
looking for a cheap one. with home theater in a box getting so cheap, i'm not willing
to spend more than RM300 for reviving a new setup with these speaker.

here are a few questions:

1. where do the speakers get its power from?

2. do i need an amplifier? can i just connect the speakers straight to the back of my DVD player?

3. can i just connect it to a creative DDTS-100?

4. since all the speakers have their own cable, how am i gonna merge the normal front speaker and the super woofer to form a single channel? (frontL+wooferL, frontR+wooferR) in other words, from 4 channels to 2 channels.

5. if (4) is not possible, how am i gonna merge both the woofers(L+R) to form a single woofer? (hope can use it as a subwoofer)

Inverted image

i have downloaded a video clip from the internet. it's xvid encoded. it plays fine in windows media player and VLC player. so, it's noe codec problem. but when i play it with media player classic, the video is up side down or inverted. but the external subtitle loaded is not inverted. only this video has this problem. other video played in MPC is OK. i've tested newer version of MPC but still the same.

anyone can help?

WRT54G bitcomet port forward

i'm using wifi on linksys WRT54G.
i've followed the guide on www.portforward.com for the bitcomet but when i check my port on http://www.canyouseeme.org/, it's NOT open. why?

i've turned off my windows firewall.

is there any extra things in the linksys setup where i have to change?

Thumbdrive Autoplay

last time, whenever, i plug in my thumbdrive, it will pop up a window, asking me what to do, like "open using window explorer, browse with acdsee, play using WMP".
but there's one time i set it to "Take no action", and put a tick there so it's permanent.

now, i don't want that setting anymore. i want it to prompt me what to do. so, i go through the autoplay and select "prompt me each time to choose action".

unluckily, nth happen. when i double-click my drive, "Open With" pops up.
besides that, it add an "Auto" to my right click context menu. when i select it, it open the "open with" again.

how to fix it? i want it to prompt me each time to choose action.

here are my problems:

when i plug in my headphone or even my speakers to the front audio jack on the casing, i can hear some soft buzzing sound. kinda like static noise or sth. the sound is the softest when my monitor is displaying white image. loudest when displaying black image. even when i scroll the window or move the window around, the sound gets louder. the buzzing sound continue when i play my games, or even just running WMP with the energy bliss visualisation. but the audio ports on the back of my motherboard is fine (no problem). FYI, i have connected the front audio pins to my mobo header correctly.

besides that, sometimes i heard that the acbel PSU is making a small buzing sound too. even when my pc is off (with the PSU rocker button ON, of course). last time i heard from some of the forumers that it is normal with Acbel. is that true? just wanna confirm this.

hope all LYN sifus can rectify this small problem.
