http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-...r-tv-in-october

QUOTE

A preview site for Yoshiki Tanaka's Tytania space opera epic has opened and officially announced that an animated television series has been green-lit. Tanaka also wrote the long-running Legend of the Galactic Heroes space opera, the Asian-influenced Sohryuden - Legend of the Dragon Kings mythological fantasy, the Middle-East-influenced The Heroic Legend of Arslan fantasy series, and the Ryoko's Case File supernatural mysteries. All of these other novel series have been adapted into anime. Between 1988 and 1991, Tanaka wrote three novels about a soldier who flees the spacefaring Tytania empire and seeks refuge with a force leading a rebellion.

The preview site confirms that Haruhiko Mikimoto, the illustrator of the Tytania novels and the designer of Macross, Orguss, Megazone 23, and Aim for the Top! Gunbuster, will be in charge of the original character designs. Noboru Sugimitsu (Hoshi Neko Fullhouse, Legend of the Condor Hero, Mikan Enikki) will adapt those designs for anime. Artland, the production studio headed by veteran director Noboru Ishiguro (Macross, Orguss, Megazone 23, Galactic Heroes), will animate the project. Artland and Ishiguro spent over a decade animating more than 100 episodes of Galactic Heroes. Longtime Studio Nue mechanical designer Kazutaka Miyatake (Macross, Orguss, Gunbuster, Eureka Seven) will work on the mechanics.

Koji Ito (Cybuster, Full Metal Panic!, The Irresponsible Captain Tylor) will collaborate with Miyatake on the mechanical designs and work as chief director under Ishiguro. Susumu Aketagawa (Legend of the Galactic Heroes: My Conquest is the Sea of Stars, Phoenix 2772 - Space Firebird, Barefoot Gen movies) will direct the sound. Sanzigen, the company best known for the 3D computer graphics in Gurren Lagann, will handle the CG.

The series will start in October on NHK's BS-2 satellite channel and run every Thursday at 11:32 p.m. Ishiguro first revealed the development of the project at Anime Expo 2003. Hiroaki Adachi of Tanaka's Wright Staff management firm then indicated that the anime was moving forward in March. Artist Guntetsu has been drawing a manga version in Kodansha's Monthly Shōnen Sirius magazine since March.

Almost the whole team from the original SDF macross is here except Shouji Kawamori himself who's probably busy with Frontier. And Tanaka who did the LoGH....this anime has big potential to be epic win. Can't wait.

Strike Witches TV

Not sure how good the show will be. Its basically all the nekomimi, moe and loli and military ota's wet dream rolled into one.

QUOTE

The Strike Witches television series and the earlier Strike Witches video project essentially provided a plot rationale for the artwork of an illustrator named Humikane Shimada (Sky Girls). Shimada is known for drawing mecha-girls: girls whose bodies have been merged with real-life and imaginary machinery and weapons. The story takes place on an alternate world similar to our own in the 20th Century, except for the existence of magical powers. These powers, which manifest themselves in girls but disappear as the girls grow older, allow these so-called "witches" to fly in the skies. When an enigmatic enemy attacks, the last hope of humanity lies in these witches who have been equipped with Striker Unit flying gear — hence, the name Strike Witches.

I see what you did thar.

Queen's Blade is Hobby Japan's Japanese spinoff from Flying Buffalo's Lost Worlds game series. In combat picture book games, players simulate turn-based fighting with books that each represent a character. For example, the two books above represent the twilight queen Arudora and the fighting instructor Arein.

The original game books feature characters designs by many popular artists, including Hirokazu Hisayuki (My-HiME), Kazuhiro Takamura (Mahoromatic), and Katsuzo Hirata (Hand Maid May). However, no announcement has been made on the staff of the anime. The game has already been adapted into drama CDs, novels, two manga series, and several anthology comics.

Popular echi game book characters finally get an animu of their own.
Anime Fansubs Mockumentary

The following is a video made by some pretentious Brit guy that dubs himself OTAKING. To summarise, basically he compares modern fansubs to professional translations and the good ol' days of fansubbing, and how modern fansubs sux.

I personally think that this guy's just ranting and troll baiting. Fansubber ARE NOT professional translators....period. All the points he makes, most viewers these day don't evencare about them IMHO. Granted some points were made but i felt he took the worse examples of bad fansubs and showcased them in this mockumentary.

Thoughts?

Another Death Note Arrest

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-...over-death-note

What's the harm of writing ppl's name on a black book. Hmmm. Seems ppl in America are getting paranoid and worried considering there have been many highschool shootings there lately. I wonder on what grounds are the kids there expelled or reprimanded....for writing names in a black book. Would they be arrested if they wrote them on exercise books?

Bishoujo Gemu MMO

http://www.akiba-ch.com/?p=478

Oh shi-.....now every one can attempt to date Sia-chan and if you win, you get to show off to all the otakus that you are dating a God. LMAO!

QUOTE

The dream of bishoujo game fans come true...! The details on the mysterious aisp@ce project that had a booth at Comic Market 2007 Winter has been disclosed. I was actually there at the announcement session to give you the coverage~

Just like I suspected, aisp@ce is planned to be an online interactive community service in the fashion of Second Life, except it will feature bishojo game characters in 3D! So far the game titles involved in the project are: CLANNAD, Shuffle, and Da Capo II.

The basic idea of aisp@ce is you spend a virtual life with your favorite heroine in the world that looks just like the games. For example, the town of Da Capo is full of sakura trees. Each person participating will have a partner girl who you can dress the way you like and eventually a house to decrate. The girl wil follow you around giving reactions to what you do. They are even working on an set of scripts so they can talk as if they have an AI.

After the preparations are done, it's time to go out to the town to communicate with the other players online! The methods of interacting with the characters and other players are still under development, but they said they want to intergrate as much ideas the fans want. But the graphics of the game is seriously looking nice and smooth, especially the virtual town of Akihabara!

The following images are still under development (C)aisp@ce

Other than the game companies, Visual Arts, Navel, and Circus, there are several companies who are leading the project. Those companies are Dwango, who made the Nico Nico video website, Headlock, one of the few Japanese companies that made successful original MMORPGs, and trading card game company, Bushiroad. If there is anyone who can make this project happen, it must be those 3 companies who knows about communication tools uniting people!

Some of the other noteworthy news is that the theme song will be sung by the queen of bishojo game songs (personal opinion), KOTOKO. Everything else is pretty much still under development, including the cost of the game. It maybe monthly fee based or free to just log in. The items in the world may cost money or maybe achieved through mini-games. The virtual world of Akiba might show advertisments or sell actual goods.

Here are more snapshots from the annoucement session. But too bad at the Q&A time, people were asking boring and realistic questions like, "do you have plans for security measures against cheaters and selling in-game items in real life?"

An finally a photo of the staffs.

Executives of Bushiroad, Dwango, and Headlock

Members of VisualArts (Not Key), Navel, and Circus

Cosplayers!

Service slated to begin 2008 Summer.
Aisp@ce
http://ai-sp.jp

Also if you have a Nico Nico video account,
http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/zd2934012

My opinion...?
If Type-Moon joins the project, I'm sold XD
Also, if the system enables people to login to the servers from outside Japan, this will be great for interested foreign fans as well!! The possibility is limit less!

Afrec

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-...ng-anime-scenes

QUOTE

Bandai Namco Games announced the prototype for its Afrec! technology at Tokyo International Anime Fair 2008 on March 27. Like karaoke, the machine allows fans to add their voices to their favorite tracks. Unlike karaoke, the machine does voiceovers for anime scenes, not songs. The machine displays a short sequence from popular anime with subtitled dialogue, and the fans voice over their favorite characters.

The name Afrec! comes from "afureko" ("after-recording"), the Japanese term for dialogue dubbing sessions that are recorded after the video is made. Almost all Japnese animated productions record the dialogue after a rough edit of the animation is cut. Bandai plans to sell Afrec! in the middle of this year, and is also dveloping a version for films.

Imagine the big amount of lulz during gaytherings and conventions especially if they make an english/bahasa variant for it.
