Sup...

im a student and got streamyx installed in my rent house.. i just moved to a new rent house and its also got streamyx installed..

in my previous house, we share rm88 1M basic(with modem) with 3 house where each house got at least 3-4 computer. which mean we share one streamyx account for about 10-14 computer . i can say that like 3/4 user(including me) use p2p like bt and limewire. i can freely surfing, downloading and got decent speed with bt and sometime reach 100kB/s with many seeders even without port forwarding . my friend who is like our network admin use a router along with zte modem...

now im moving in new rent house which already installed streamyx rm99 1M basic(with modem) by my friends who knows nothing bout network troubleshooting(like me) . We share the connection with 4 pc. now i cant surf while bt and my http, and ftp download speed only reach 50kB/s. i look at the router config page and realise the line had been misscaped to 512kb/s. They've been misscapped for the whole 2 years while pay rm99 a month!! .

i tought that would be the problem why i cant bt so i make a complain.. and about 2 month later i got 1024kb/s. yet still i cant heavily bt even with port forwarding.. i only can set maximum peers to 25 per pc otherwise the connection will choke. while my previous house, i set my maximum peers to 100 and still can surf freely.

i tought i might want to get a dedicated router and i ask my previous network admin. he says that now he dont use router anymore because he just realise zte modem already got built in router and adding a router mean more delay to the connection.

what u guys think i should do? buy a router? or another modem with built in router? i use zte modem with 8 port artnet switch. thanks in advance...
