hi guys.. i read few past topics regarding this damn creature called virut and final advice usually reformat..

is there any better solution?

damn la.. my pc kena infected from external hdd

so what? i have to reformat all partitions in all my hdd (i have 2 hdd) ?

and i use kaspersky.. why the problem only occur when i turned on my antivirus?

if i turn it off, then no problem.. like right now.. i can open firefox, play songs bla bla.. no problem?

is it bcoz my antivirus kinda activate the virut?

my friend's laptop
using vista home premium

so the problem is that all the applications (*.exe) files cant be open.. the .exe icon turned to just an empty white icon..
for example, word.exe.. when double click theres nothing happen. But if i double click the *doc file, the office word will open..
this happened to all *.exe in the system.. all of it

she claimed its been a while edi.. so cant use system restore..

solutions?

hi ppl.. im using vista n having problems here..

dthis evening, suddenly my monitor flickered, i realized whenever the screen turned back from blank, my pointer also changed back it position to the center of the screen..
then on my task manager, my cpu usage spiked up very hight.. there is some ativxxx something, (i cant remember) that used my cpu a lot.. till became very lag and slow.

i tried reinstall my gfx driver (im using ati 4850).. but got error (i cant really read what i stated there as the screen flickered too much)..

ok.. anyhow i actually want to format my pc too.. so i just format it..

then i reinstall vista again..

finished install vista, i just install latest ati driver + x-fi driver.. n i reboot my pc..

suddenly weirder thing happened.. after the vista loading screen, the monitor suddenly blank, it didnt even show welcome / log on screen.. then it shows "power saving mode ON" n then it turn off and my monitor LED turn yellow.. however my cpu everything still running (based on the sound?)

seriously dont know is happening.. help pls..

My 2nd prob like the one i bolded still happen, but not that often.. since yesterday, i cant use my pc at all since it kept occurred.

so i tried to enter vista via safemode, it can. I go to device manager and delete my 4850 driver, then i reboot. Just by doing that, i can enter my windows again. Everything became normal except right now my vista got no gfx driver. Then i install previous version driver (b4 this im using ati latest driver 8.12, so now i install 8.10 and 8.8) after install and reboot, same problem will happen for each driver that i installed.. however this problem will go away when i remove the gfx driver..

wth is happening? is my gfx causing all these problem?

what i meant is the shah alam city centre side (the state mosque area), not those industrial side (the one got ktm komuter) and not glenmarie

i often get lost where to eat there.. finally end up at mamak or ani sup at section 9 only those two i familiar with
at night i heard there is nice food at section 11, circle of night something.. havent try

so anyone familiar with shah alam have any other places to recommend?

people.. i just installed partition magic v8 on vista.. then it cant run since it said there is incompatibility issues..
ok fine with it.. so i tried to uninstall the partition magic
then it causes my system hang
i forced my laptop to shut down, when i turn on, after the vista black boot screen appear, the bsod screen came out..
then i checked my drive c: is gone
i tried to install the vista again.. but the problem is i cant format the c: drive.. it came out with 0x8004240f error
