On 28th August 2009, I went to 1 of this shop located at 1st floor, Low Yat Plaza. The GPS inside the pda has failed to work recently.

I was attended by a repairman, lets name him John. I was told by him that my pda had software problem, thus it has to be formatted. It will take 30 minutes. Thus, 30 minutes later, I went back to him. I got the pda back, with all the data and my setting intake. I was dissatisfied because I see no evidence of the pda has been repaired. The pda wasn't formatted as he had told me so. Instead, I was told that he had only installed some software to the gps chip and my gps is fine now. I was charged RM80.

After getting back my PDA, I went out from the building to test the gps, only to find out that it still having the same problem. I went back to the shop immediately. I was attended by John again. He told the pda and was going through my pda. Then he said everything is fine and told me to go test it again.

I went out of the building and test again, the problem was not solved. I went back to the shop again. He passed my pda to 1 another employee there. That particular employee made me wait for almost an hour, then he installed Garmin Mobile XT and instructed me on how to use it.

I took the pda out again and tested the gps with the installed Garmin. It failed to work also. I brought the pda back to the shop again. John attended me. After opening the back cover of my pda, I was told that he needed to test the gps chip inside it to make sure it is working or not. I was told that this will take 2-3 days. Thus, I left a contact number and requested his contact number (014-9102019).

After the 3rd day, I called in again to check on the status. The only reply was "not yet". When I asked further what does he meant by "not yet", he keep on replying the same word, "not yet". I checked with him almost everyday to know the status, as his promise of '2-3 days' had lapsed.

To my dismay, after a week, he is unreachable. All calls to his mobile phone number reached the voicemail. Thus, on the 11th of September, I went to the shop to check on my pda. I was told by another repairman there that he is the only 1 working now as John and the rest of the employee is on leave. He told me to call John personally. I told him I wouldn't have come to the shop if I could have reached John. He told me that John is only coming back on Monday.

On 18th of September, I went to the shop again as I still have heard no news from John, let alone his contact number is unreachable. I was greeted by the same repairman from the last week. I told him I was looking for John and I was told that John is not in today. He told me the same thing again, contact John.

I have sent the pda for more than 3 weeks. I was promised that it will only take 2-3 days. And now, the repairman has gone missing and the employee in the shop does not seem helpful with my complain. I have wasted alot of time and money to travel down to Low Yat Plaza. As I am still a student studying in Cyberjaya and depending on public transport, money and transportation has not been easy. Besides that, I have been effectively asked to pay RM80 just to install a pirated version of Garmin Mobile XT.

Already lodged a complain with nccc. Does this case consider theft case? Can lodge a police report?

update 28th September:
I went to the shop on Saturday, 26th September. I was told that that 'John' no longer work there. So all unfinished job should be sent back to HQ.

One of the worker took my particulars and say will check with HQ for further action.

Replacing spoilt laptop dvd drive

I have just browsed thru the price list in lowyat.net. I know it does not cover all shops, but I couldn't find any shops that got sell laptop dvd writer replacement.

My inspiron 1420 ordy malfunction and out of warranty. So I wonder if anyone come across before in lowyat shop that sell oem or compatible replacement parts for laptop?

As I am staying in cyberjaya and don't have transport, I do not want to travel all the way to lowyat if there's no such shop. My last option is to call dell and deliver me the replacement part which will cost 200 bucks.

Compaq Armada LCD hinge patah

My compaq armada 110 lcd hinge patah ordy. Both hinge break. d lcd wont hold 2 d body anymore... is there anywhere i can get a new set of hinge so i can replace it... or is there any service shop i can go to???
