Installing language pack without CD?

I re-formatted my notebook about a month ago at the store and only now realized that I can't read chinese and japanese text. The texts only display boxes.
I bought the notebook a few years ago and it didnt come with a Windows XP CD. It just came with some Windows XP Home cardboard and the serial number attached to the notebook (I actually bought two same model notebooks from different stores and both did not come with the CD).
If I go back to the store that I formatted my notebook I think I'll be charged if I ask them to install the language pack for me. Is there any way to install it? I just want to view japanese and chinese text. I remember downloading the language pack from Microsoft's site a long time ago but I think that was for MS Millennium Edition.

How to uninstall updates installed recently?

Theres this yellow balloon on my task bar that says theres some Windows updates to be installed. So I just installed them without checking what was it that Windows will install. After restarting I found out that Windows has installed some sort of validation thing that checks whether my software is genuine or not. Since I'm using a pirated version of Windows XP Professional (which the technician installed for me when I formatted my notebook), this pop up will always show saying that "I might be a victim of software counterfeiting blah blah blah.. please resolve this by clicking here" and a whole lotta nonsense.
Hell..even my wallpaper has been changed (see below).

Anyone know how I can get rid of it? I was thinking of doing a system restore and roll back to the time before I installed the updates but my previous restore points seems to have vanished for some reason.

No sound after formatting notebook

I formatted by notebook at the store recently and noticed that theres no sound. The audio was ok before I formatted it. I'm pretty sure I've installed the drivers (VIA AC'97 Enhanced Audio Controller, if I'm not mistaken) but its still not working. I went into Sounds and Audio Devices under Control Panel, and it says "No Audio Device" and everything seems to be disabled. Took it back to the store and even they can't seem to fix it. They say it might be something wrong with my sound card or something.
Anyone can help?

EDIT: I just found out that the store installed XP Pro for me instead of XP Home which I was using previously. Will that have any effect?

I'd like to connect my external usb 2.0 harddrive to this old computer running Windows 98 which I believe is usb 1.0.
When I connect it, it said that I need to install a driver or something. But the thing is I've already lost whatever CDs that comes with the hard disk.
What do I do now?

HSBC call center near Masjid Jamek

Does anyone know what its like to work in a HSBC call center? I think its probably a bit different from the Global Support Executive which is based in Cyberjaya.

They called me up and said they might set me for an interview in a week or two. They mentioned that the basic will be RM2235 plus shift allowance. Working hour is 8am-4pm, 4pm-12pm and 12-8pm.

I've worked in a call center at Maxis for about a year so I know what its like. Its a little stressful especially hitting the targets and all. But I hope theres something good about HSBC because I'd like to try it out.

The job description didn't mention anything about sales but when they called me they said that at the beginning I'll be selling stuffs before I advance. Hmmmm....

So I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this company? I can't seem to find any info on them on the web.

So yeah. Anyone knows what kind of company this is? Or is it a recruitment company? I saw some of their ads from jobstreet and they're offering like a basic salary of rm3500 - rm5000 depending on qualification and experience. A basic of rm3500 is already quite high for someone without any experience and stuff so I was wondering if theres anything fishy going on here.

Heres some of the ads if anyone wants to check it out...

http://siva-my.jobstreet.com/_ads/my/jobs/...359904.htm?fr=J
http://siva-my.jobstreet.com/_ads/my/jobs/...359903.htm?fr=J

use router(aztech) to minimize/maximize speed or

I'm using an Aztech DSL600ER router at the moment. Previously I was sharing it with another guy and everything was fine. Until the guy moved out and some new guys moved in and all the ports were used. I notice that surfing is starting to lag and using BT is also extremely slow. Sometimes I cant even log into MSN unless I restart the router.
I suspect the new guys must be up to some stuffs.
Is there anyway I can check? I want my previous speed back!

Software to enhance/increase volume?

I'm using a notebook and I often use earphones to listen to music or watch movies by plugging it to the headphone jack. The problem is that the volume is still too low even if I drag the volume to maximum and the audio quality is also bad because there isn't any equalizer. Of course it will sound better if I use speakers but I can't take them everywhere I go.
Is there any software or is it even possible for me to increase the volume even more?

Getting time outs when using router

I'm using an Aztech DSL600ER router with three PCs connected to it. The problem is that sometimes it will get disconnected (get time outs) once in a while and after a few minutes it will reconnect again. I've tried the router in two different locations and its still the same. I don't think its the router problem since I just bought it less than a month ago. My previous router also had a similar problem. Anyway to fix this?
