one of my friend pointed this out. admittedly it confuses the heck out of me.

2 * 2 = 2+2;
2 * 3 = 2+2+2;
2 * 4 = 2+2+2+2;
...
x * x = x+x+x+....+x+x (x number of times)

x * x =x^2
therefore,
x^2=x+x+x+x+...+x+x (x number of times)
differentiate,
d/dx(x^2)=2x
d/dx(x+x+x+...+x+x)=1+1+1+1+...+1+1+1 (x number of times)
which equals to x

therefore,
2x=x,
2=1

multiple accounts?

hi,

i would like to ask if its possible to have multiple savings accounts under one name from the same bank?

ie. i would like to have acc A for salary bank-in, acc B for savings, acc C for online trades, etc but dont want to go to 2-3 banks.

if multiple accounts is not possbile, are there any other alternatives?

hi, i'm looking for opinions on what brand of desktop network card is most compatible for linux? so far in my research i have come up with brands like netgear, dlink, etc, which *sometimes* have good compatibility due to the atheros/ralink chipset. but some versions have the more problematic chipsets that need ndiswrapper or worse.

as i dont think shops will allow me to unwrap their boxes and stare at the chipset model, any of you have good experience with any particular brand of pci wifi card?

hi, i'm wondering if any of you know of a good place to dispose of old pc hardware?

i dont think just dumping it out would be good as pc components contain heavy metal that can polute the environment.

i cant sell it as it is a combination of ancient (pre pentium) and maybe faulty hardware

so any ideas? old newpaper man?

hi, i'm about to move into KJ area, in the event that the house has no phoneline, i have no choice but to get 1 of the wireless broadband services available. (as i'm rather unfortunately, addicted to the net )

i would like to hear your opinions about the quality of the services. after a brief browse of the forums, i found these services are available (with general feelings in parenthesis)

1. maxis (with download limit - high latency?)
2. celcom (download limit not yet enforced?)
3. izzi (the suckiest of them all?)
4. umobile (unknown, but rather new and untested?)
5. jaring (maybe the best?)
6. others??

these are the criterias i would like to be commented on (most important at the top)

1. latency - i play some online games, while they are not reflex intensive like dota, too high a ping is unacceptable. the servers are overseas too (think WoW)

2.torrent/ddl - not looking for godlike 1MB/s dl, but not slow like turtle. maybe 30kbps is ok.

3. browsing/streaming/video call - well, if it can achieve above i dont think it will have trouble with these?

4. price - as long as it is not exhorbitant, i dont really mind

note i know line based will always be the best, but if life gives you lemons......

oh and lastly, does all wireless ISP allow you a test period? if yes, i may as well contact them all and test myself

are there any software that can help auto find chinese album art? most software only find english albums. would the fact that most of the mp3 that i have are not rip from cd but dl from net be an issue?
