I'm organising a coloring contest for orphans this coming Diwali and was wondering if any of you would like to contribute any of your art to be used for this event?

I just need it in outline so the kids can color it with crayons. I've already found a sponsor for Crayons and prizes, so I just need a nice composition.

Try to create something or rather a theme that can make these orphans happy.

6800GT AGP

Hi Gurus,

I've a problem... (obviously!)

I just found out that my aging old AGP GeForce 6800GT is idling at 80 degrees!! Ambient is about 50 or so.

From what I know, this card usually idles at 50-60.

Ancient Specs:
2500+ Athlon XP
1.5G RAM
450w PSU
CDRW
DVD
2 HDD (recently disabled one to "save electricity")
22" Asus LCD

Looking at it, it's not really dusty. I think it could be due to the 22" (1680x1050 resolution) that it's constantly pumping out.

Any way to help lower down the temp?

Do I remove the old fan and cooling unit and add in a new one? If so, any recommendations?

old PC upgrade options

I'm currently running an old 2.5Ghz Athlon XP Socket A 462 chip on a Abit NF7-S. Since I'm a bit (extremely) tight on budget at the moment, I was thinking of getting a used 3.0Ghz and use it as an upgrade. The processor shouldn't cost much (less than RM50 I suppose). Just wanna ask if it's a feasible (or significant) upgrade or not. Couldn't find the 3.2Ghz version...

Also need your advice on replacing the processor myself (newbie here)

- Unclip heatsink
- Remove CPU from socket (it's normally not locked on, right?)
- Line up the CPU (there's no need to press it in, right?)
- Put some Thermal Paste on CPU and heat sink/fan

Do I need to reformat my PC? A bit leceh wanna reformat cos of all the MMOs, saved games and data that I currently have in my PC now.

Highway Road Conditions

new road surface is extremely SLIPPERY! To share with some of you, my car
comes with a built-in traction control mechanism (skidding prevention
mechanism) and you can feel it each time it is activated. Previously, I
don't come across this kind of slippery feel except when I drive over a
paddle of water at certain speed.

From my observation as a building contractor, the 'wearing course' of the
new road surface could be TOO FINE OR TOO SMOOTH and TOTALLY UNSUITABLE for
highway use!
The wearing course (top premix layer) mix design for highways should be of
minimum 20mm coarse aggregate mix that will give us the required bond
between the surface and our tyres. Fine wearing course (14mm coarse
aggregate size and below) is only suitable for normal road. (A proper test
need to be carried out to determine the mix design of the wearing course).

Since the opening of the three lanes highway, I had seen cars skidding in
front me or in the opposite direction and approximately 2 weeks ago, one of
my friends who is also a frequent user of our NSE, came to share with me
about his slippery feeling as well as the many skidded cars he had seen
lately.

I am highlighting this to TV3 and The Star with the hope that a thourough
investigation could be carried out immediately to find out how or what
causes the bus to skid. A proper and independent test need to be carried out
urgently to determine the design mix of the wearing course. THIS CAN SAVE
LIVES.

FOR THOSE BCC RECIPIENTS, PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH ALL YOUR FRIENDS.

I can attest to this. I've had my bella skidding slightly even when I was travelling at between 60-70km/h along the stretch from Ipoh to KL (mainly between Tapah and Bukit Beruntung). This is while driving straight... and at most corners. Forced to cut my speed down to 40-50km/h for fear for skidding right into the drain or something. I've seen many cars (one was a Peugeot 407) skid before along this highway... and they weren't traveling fast at all.

At first I thought it was my tires... maybe bad traction but I check it, it seems fine. Never had this problem when I was travelling between Johor and KL previously. What I would like to know if there's anyone else who had experienced something similar?

False Positve

Wasn't able to logon hotmail, facebook or MSN lately so I suspected kena virus. Norton and Ad-Aware didnt get any results so I used a-squared from EMSI software to scan and found this... Worm.Win32.Otwycal.ag

Usually when we detect these things, we would either quarantine or delete them... but for this one, folks are giving advice NOT to do so. I've not found a solution of getting rid of this thing yet but hopefully a fix would be out soon.

Also, it's a possibility that it's a False Positive.

There are total of 6 races and 9 classes currently implemented in DDO:

Race

Human

Humans are the most adaptable and flexible among the common races, and are more physically diverse. Humans are adaptable and quick to master specialized tasks, so they receive bonus feats and skill points. They receive neither bonuses nor penalties to abilities, and therefore make good candidates for any class.

-> At character creation, all humans get +4 skill points and an additional +1 at every level after level 1
-> Humans get a bonus feat at level 1.

Elf

Elves are well known for their poetry, dance, song, lore, and magical arts. Elves favor things of natural and simple beauty. When danger threatens their woodland homes, however, elves reveal a more martial side, demonstrating their skill with sword, bow, and battle strategy.

Elves mingle freely in human lands, always welcome yet never at home there. Life among humans moves at a pace that elves dislike: regimented from day to day but changing from decade to decade. Dwarf

A dwarf adventurer may be motivated by crusading zeal, a love of excitement, or simple greed. As long as his accomplishments bring honor to his clan, his deeds earn him respect and status. Defeating giants and claiming powerful magic weapons are sure ways for a dwarf to earn the adulation of other dwarves.

The dwarven homeland in Eberron is the Mror Holds, a loose-knit federation of dwarf clans in the mountainous terrain in the east of Khorvaire. The dwarves have never had a unified empire and thus have never risen to the prominence of the elves or humans, though their control of mineral wealth has always made them important allies of the greater powers. Their mysterious kingdoms, carved out from the insides of mountains, are renowned for the marvelous treasures that they produce as gifts or for trade. Dwarves are affiliated with the House Kundarak in Stormreach.

-> +2 Constitution, -2 Charisma: Dwarves are stout and tough, but tend to be gruff and reserved.

Halfling

Halflings are clever, capable opportunists. Depending on the clan, halflings might be reliable, hard-working citizens, or they might be thieves just waiting for the opportunity to make a big score and disappear in the dead of night.

Halflings adventurers are typically looking for a way to use their skills to gain wealth or status. The distinction between a halfling adventurer and a halfling just out to make a big score can be blurry. While halfling opportunism can sometimes look like larceny or fraud to others, a halfling adventurer who learns to trust her fellows is worthy of trust in return.

In the world of Eberron, halflings are nomads who ride domesticated dinosaurs across the wide Talenta Plains. The heritage of the nomad also serves more urbanized halflings well, and halflings have established themselves across Eberron as merchants, politicians, barristers, healers, and criminals. The tribal nomads of the plains can sometimes be found in the cities, but often the halflings of the cities blend in with the rest of the population and display only the occasional reminder of their roots. Halflings are affiliated with the House Jorasco in Stormreach.

-> +2 Dexterity, -2 Strength: Halflings are quick, agile and good with ranged weapons, but not as strong as other
humanoids.
-> +1 Armor Class bonus, +1 attack roll bonus, +4 bonus on Hide checks, and 3/4 carrying limit: As Small creatures,
halflings are harder to hit and hide better, but can carry less than the other races.
-> +2 bonus on Jump, Listen and Move Silently checks: Halflings are surefooted and nimble.
-> +1 bonus on all saving throws and +2 saving throw bonus against Fear: Halflings are surprisingly capable at
avoiding mishaps.
-> +1 attack roll bonus with thrown weapons: Throwing stones is a universal sport among halflings and they have
excellent aim.

Warforged

Warforged are constructs built to fight in the Last War and the humanoid races of Eberron regard warforged as unpleasant reminders of the brutality of that war. As they strive to be a part of society, warforged struggle to find ways to relate to the other races that created them.

Adventuring is one way that warforged can fit into the world, at least as well as any adventurer ever does. In the wilds of Xen'drik, the ancient continent of secrets, few people care whether you were born or made, as long as you can help keep your companions alive. A fairly large number of warforged choose an adventuring life to escape from the confines of a society that they didn't create and at the same time engage in some meaningful activity.

Originally intended as nothing more than mindless war machines, the warforged acquired sentience due to the arcane experiments intended to improve these weapons of destruction. Through these experiments, the warforged moved away from being true constructs and became alive. The basic and most plentiful warforged are just slightly larger than humans. Larger varieties of warforged-like constructs can also be encountered, as these remnants of the Last War still exist.

other creatures makes them seem aloof or even hostile.
-> Immune to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, disease, nausea, fatigue, exhaustion: As living constructs, warforged

-> Stabilized by Repair skill, Repair Damage Spells regenerate, Positive energy healing spells (such as Cure spells)

Quad Core or Core 2 Duo?

I've been looking and looking but somehow can't figure it out so need you experts to give some opinions.
Planning to get a PC for gaming and I've been looking at these few processors and it has me somewhat... undecided.

- Intel CQD Q6600 (RM850)
- Intel C2D E8400 (RM760)
- AMD AM2 X2 6400+ (RM560)

Is there really a big difference between the Quad, Q6600 and Duo Cores like E8400?

Are (there that many) games optimized for Multi-Core Processing?

Is that extra RMs worth goin for a Quad Core?
(thinking of Quad Core cos think that it might last me much longer but if the E8400 is blazing fast enough, I don't mind saving a few bucks)

Would the C2D E6550 (2.33Ghz) or E6750 (2.67Ghz) be sufficient?

From what I've been reading, Graphic Card option I'd get would the 8800GT. Not too sure about the motherboard so what would you recommend? Not into overclocking, just gaming... and a bit of eye candy.
