not sure if this is the right forum but i'm looking for a good film scorer cum sound engineer to do scoring for an upcoming feature film to be released early next year...and of course we pay u lah...depending on your 'level of expertise' lah...

and don't worry...this is no indie film project...been there done that 8 years ago with Amir and James and the pioneers of msian indie films

actually looking for those who could score something dark with some goth-esque feel since it'd be for a horror film...the film is now already in online stage, finalising some cgi's and colour grading...sound effects, folleys are in...so just need some good haunting background music

have worked with some big names from the music scene already...so just felt like trying some new blood...who knows, u cud be the next guy who'll be scoring for Scorsese or Spielberg

and there's a time limit too...probably a month or more to work on it...students can be considered but make sure u r really good and do get your parents' permission first

and to those who think that we can never be like hollywood since we locals always suck in terms of our produced work...here's your chance to prove otherwise...

so yeah...come out come out wherever you are...need some response by this weekend

But yes...some Malay films are really crap...mostly from that one so-called scholar...

still, u guys should give this one a chance coz it's a lot different...watch it June 26th folks...

and don't compare this to Yasmin's wideshot-ish's films...totally different cinematography and mis-en-scene techniques

car temperature when idle

my perdana v6...when driving for a while...temp meter will be a bit lower (like needle below than half the meter)...but when i stop at traffic light, the temp goes up to like 3/4 of the meter...then when the car moves back, the temp goes down again...

it's like the temp will go lower only when the car moves, possibly coz the fan spins...when idle, all fan stops...increase heat, high temp

but is this normal?

webcam software for audio video recording

my acer 2920 has a crystal eye webcam...

too bad the software that comes with it can only record still pics. It comes with another software under windows media center that could record AV via some DV function but it's not so good. and i think the mics not that good too...

so u guys got any suggestion for a good webcam software that could record both audio video???

ive used a dell 1420 built-in webcam software before and it's quite good...can record AV and tweak both AV too easily while recording...

have installed the dell 1420 webcam software in the acer but the software cant detect the acer webcam...hmm

any suggestions out there for a better software or a driver to run the dell webcam software in acer? free shareware better...

just curious...

anyone else here has bought this / used this? i got one, bought a month ago from one of the hypermarts...cost less than rm150

for info...it's kinda new in the cap yam china made market...can do hd upscale both 720p and 1080i via component...so dont really need to find any hdmi cables for this. And it has usb input which is kinda cool.

i'm using it with my infocus 4805...to my untrained eyes, pics seems a bit sharper now via both 720p and 1080i...maybe a tad better than a 480i signalled processed by my 4805 via component although my 4805 has DCDi faroudja built-in. On HD upscale mode could still tweak the normal video settings.

btw - the 4085 has no HDMI input...so that's why i'm trying to maximise pic quality using component if i can...

so just wanna know here if this cheap dvd player is that good (than my 4805's internal 480i interlaced processor) or i'm just dreaming things...haha

incorrect speedometer reading pv6

hi guys

as per title - my perdana v6's speedometer...the one with kmh is putting out weird readings...it's like when i just cruising slowly when i first move the, the meter is at 0...then when i press pedal a bit, the meter will move upwards

on highways, i feel like i'm driving fast but meter only show me doing 80kmh...but i feel like i'm already past 100kmh

for info, the car already has nice 17" rims with lo-profile tyres...could this be a cause of this misreading?

my query - can this meter be fixed / calibrated? or i have to replace the whole thing? and any good place that u guys can suggest - with contact number?

afraid that i'll be getting lotsa saman since i've been driving way more than what is permitted...haha

ok..say for some reason there's a financier who is willing to give one of u like rm1.5 million to produce a movie...and of course he wants returns from his investment...the reason why he does not want to produce it himself is because he does not think he has the will to do it...coz he knows malaysians' attitude towards their own films...

but since he has the money, he wants to get somebody to do it...and he'd like to approach new guys...coz he wants something different...and hopefully this new venture might overtake hollywood or something

so just a theoretical question - would any of u guys have the guts to grab this opportunity and blow his mind...(or hollywood) by producing the best malaysia movie ever and try to reap millions of profits from box office collection by just utilising the 1.5 million - nothing more nothing less? genre - love, action, drama, porn etc is up to you...as long as it could be sold legitimately in the cinemas

and remember, the money can only be used to make movies...not venturing into any other business deals...and the market is only the cinema taking, forget the ancilliary markets etc...

don't ask me why i'm asking this...i think it's just a relevant question for this thread...since i see so many great movie reviewers here....and maybe there's aspiring film producers here too?

so any comments? or criticisns? or whatever?

remember...it's rm1.5 million...not USD1.5 million...

Go find 'janji joni' the movie, and you might get the Lux commercial with her in it. She's stunning, and her acting is not too bad for a debut!

She's of mixed parentage - Javanese and French if i'm not mistaken. So i presume she could speak French. Quite an intellectual I might add coz she's still studying in one uni in Paris now.

Sadly, there's not much stories nor pics of her in the net.
