TMNET got routing issue to my website

Hi there,

Sometimes my friends complain that they cannot access my website or any other websites on my server. I got them to update their host file manually to see if its the DNS issue but nope, they could not ping the website as well.

However, I can access my website without any other problems.

I discussed with my host and he said that it's due to Streamyx routing issue and there is nothing he can do about it. He just told me to raise the issue with Streamyx but is there any reporting line to report routing issues?

Can a police report be closed verbally?

My friend has a dispute with another guy, he has lodged a police report against my friend over this, it was over a matter where both parties were wrong.

The other guy said that he will give a telephone call to the inspector in charge after the case is settled, telling him that his matter is resolved. Can a case be closed verbally?

This is because my friend is still studying and does not want a police report with his name in the database, as it would affect his future.

Hence, my question is, can a police report be closed verbally by giving a call to the inspector? Or there is a formal procedure just like how the report was first opened?

My friend is rkwan and the seller is zhen_wei, once the case is settled, zhen_wei said he will give a call to 'close the report', is this acceptable or the report must be closed by zhen_wei himself at the police report?

IE breaks the loading of my site

Hi,

I have an advertisement script which I want to place inline with my blog posts, so I use DIV FLOAT to float it on the left. It seems to load fine with Firefox and Chrome but in IE, the website will not load, I will see something like this

I did some Google and it says it's something to do with the script modifying the DOM before the page finishes loading. I tried various suggestions such as putting defer="defer" and defer ="true" but by doing so, the ads script will not load.

There is this big shop at the 4th floor, TecAsia.

Today I iz goin there to do some shoppin, around 12pm, when I iz walk in, got no security guard, all the laptops not turned on, but surprisingly, no one in the shop, no people at all.

I iz wanting to pay for some thing, but counter got no people, I iz want to ask some questions, but no salesman, finally I got frustrated, I iz want to steal the items, but no security guard, so no fun...

Please try to perform a ping on karhoe.net, it seems to point to 127.0.0.1, why is this happening?

I did a WHOIS, and despite it showing the right nameserver, the IP points to 127.0.0.1

Hi there,

I put Innity ads on the top bar of my website (leaderboard), however sometimes innity servers are slow in delivering the ads, and since the top ads takes long to load, it results in the whole page taking long time to load, is it possible to have some javascript or php script which will command the browser to load the script after x seconds? (after page have load completely)

I did some Google and found out that I could use settimeout function to delay javascript from parsing after xseconds, but I have no idea how to get it working with external javascript files

Before I begin, this is a very long post, this is not kopitiam so I hope you guys don't mind.

It starts like this.

I bought this motherboard (first motherboard) from Cycom as part of my HTPC, Gigabyte GA-78GM-S2H. The motherboard always overheat so I sent it back for repair and they gave back a newer revision board (second motherboard), whether it's new or previous repaired, no one knows.

Then few months later, this motherboard died. I took it back to distributor as the one year warranty has JUST ended, so Cycom not entertaining me. They gave me a new one on the spot (3rd motherboard), it looks new, but I eventually found out it was a 'repaired' unit.

Took it back, had hell of a problem as posted here

Took it back to distributor just few hours back.

And

I told them my problem, they tested my pc, the BSOD appeared. Then I had to tell them that I had done all the troubleshootings which includes

1) RAM switch slot, one RAM at a time
2) Change SATA cable
3) Change BIOS
4) Clear CMOS
5) Install Vista.

Then that guy wanted to pop in his hdd to prove it. He even asked "What if my HDD can work?, I answered, then that would mean my HDD is faulty" He popped his HDD in with Vista - Windows can boot, he was like "there, can wad"

Then I went into Device Manager, and showed him that VGA driver was not installed, I installed the driver, an older driver

When the PC rebooted, it showed Out of Range (signal not recognized) which is different from the BSOD, I explained that it could be that the older driver could have handled the hardware error differently.

To prove my point, I told him that the pc will boot into Windows in Safe mode - and it worked, and again he was like "eh, how can?"

Then I tried to explain to him in a less tech jargon way (and yes, he is a technician) that Windows Vista gives the same problem.

I told him I tried Vista and 7. Then his colleague came in and I had to repeat everything to him and he seemed to understand. Then he insisted we try on XP. I can't see what's the point of doing it. Even if it worked in XP, I want to use it on 7 ! Don't waste my time!

Fine, he installed the driver, and same BSOD.

Now comes the next problem, he offered to give me another repaired motherboard from Gigabyte. APPARENTLY the one which I was using before this was a REPAIRED unit instead of a FRESH NEW one as CLAIMED by him !

I made some noise saying that this is the 3rd motherboard and you expect me to receive a 4th REPAIRED motherboard within a year?

What more, this motherboard was manufactured on November! Barely few months and it was sent back for repair and now it ended up on the distributor shelf.

So I made some noise and they offered me an upgrade to a 'newer' model.

They had some complicated formula which involves the lifespan of the motherboard and the market price of the motherboard and the replacement model. Ended up, they quoted me RM90 !!

I was like, this is ridiculous, you made me come back here 2 times within 3 days, and you are offering me RM90? He said that the RM90 is a dealer price, not customer price. But what he didn't tell me is that it's a dealer price and they would have earned some profit again.

The manager then explained that this is due to the fact that Gigabyte is not issuing Credit Note so that repaired motherboard would end up as their buffer stock for next unlucky customer who sent in the motherboard for repair.

After some negotiation, I managed to get it for RM60, and here I am, starting all the installations from scratch.

Ultra Reliable 3? Sounds more like ULTRA UNRELIABLE 3 ! Three for that 3 DAMNED times I had to send back the motherboard. How the hell does Gigabyte service centre do their repairing and testing? Repaired motherboard which gave problem 5 mins upon installation? I have no problem with the distributor, they have tried to be helpful in their own way, it's Gigabyte that spoiled my (few) day(s)
