Mamak + Malay marriage

I have many mamak friends since I was born and raised in Penang. Most of them are married to Malay women. I wonder what will happen to mamak women such as their sisters or relatives since many of them got married to Malay women. Won't they get married ? Is there a reason why the majority of male mamak are not marrying a female mamak. I can't ask them directly as they might feel offended (although I'm not sure that it's an offensive question).

No racism spark plug please. This is for open discussion.

Anywhere in the world, buying a new Lamborghini would cost you a lot of money (in Malaysia, over a million ringgit) but here’s another way to have that Italian brand in your home and pocket for about the price of a Proton Saga.

The catch? You can’t drive it but you will still have all the bragging rights as only 1,963 units will be available worldwide. It’s the Meridiist Automobili Lamborghini cellphone, a product designed and made by the French Modelabs Group in collaboration with TAGHeuer. No price has been officially mentioned but the suggested retail price starts at US$7,500. The choice of 1,963 units for the limited edition pays tribute to the year that Lamborghini was established.

Described as being 'luxuriously crafted and detailed’, the cellphone’s design takes inspiration from the Murcielago LP640 and like the supercar, it uses expensive, high-tech materials and components. The black titanium carbide casing is of 316L stainless steel, the type of steel normally used for surgical and precision tools. On the back, the Lamborghini signature is engraved on the battery cover and each unit has a unique serial number.

The large display is made from 60.5 carats of scratch-resistant sapphire crystal while the keypad is backlit with stainless steel keys. Battery life is claimed to be 'unrivalled’ with a 7-hour talktime or 28 days standby power.

Strangely, with the high-end cellphones already having 5-megapixel cameras, the Meridiist Automobili Lamborghini only has a 2-megapixel type. But for those who want high-quality wallpaper on their screens, it does come with a collection of Lamborghini images as well as animations and sounds. The 2GB memory should be plenty for storing music and images and the phone has 3G connectivity with a built-in modem as well.

The exclusive cellphone will be available at selected TAGHeuer dealers and from the company’s website, Kuala Lumpur is listed as well.

70 engineers worked on the engine project. According to Proton, the engine was developed in collaboration between Proton and Lotus Engineering, with active involvement of Malaysian engineers and vendors. I actually so happened to meet a few young Proton engineers at a UK visa application center in KL and they were applying for a UK work visa for a certain project, so this must have been it

Producing the engine took 18 months from approval of engineering proof of concept. The proof of concept could have been that turbocharged engine we saw in the Exora. The engine was designed for high torque applications, which will provide good driveability in larger Proton cars such as the Proton Exora. Proton Director of Engineering Tajul Zahari said the engine is RON95 compatible. Apparently the engine will be ready by 2011, so we should see it in Protons by then.

Sugar issue

After 4 days of searching throughout my area, at last I found only 2 packets of sugar at one mamak grocery store. The 2 I believe were the final stock for my area (Gombak).

Difference in driving distant

I bought my first car in 2002 when I was in Penang. The thing is when I moved to KL, my odo shows a dramatic difference.

Between 2002-2007 - from a new car odo, I travelled around 60,000km throughout the 5 years when I was staying in Penang
Between 2007-2009 - 60,000km and now 120,000km in KL. Still with the same car.

That's twice the distance in just 2 years.

My driving behaviour is just the same I suppose. I guess the distance between one place and another in the Klang Valley is much much greater compared to Penang. I wonder why I can't save as much money when I moved to KL due to fuel usage, tyre wear, brake wear, engine wear that happen much much greater.

When in Penang the distance between Sunshine Square, Queensbay Mall, Bukit Jambul Kompleks, Gurney Plaza, KOMTAR, Prangin Mall and Island Plaza is just around 25km per trip. In Klang Valley many attractive places are so far from each other, I'll take from Alpha Angle, Midvalley, Sunway Pyramid, One Utama and else might be 80km per trip.

These are just my rough calculation and I take the shopping malls just for the points of interest.

Again when I bought a new car several months ago, out of no where, the odo reached 1000km and forced me to do the first service.

Anybody from Penang experience the same ?

Annoying GPS reminder

My car is equipped the latest model of Garmin software attached with my Kenwood DNX7340BT that has the speed limit, red light camera, toll plaza, R&R and so on reminders. It's very annoying as beeping and voice reminders telling the speed limit, red light camera.... occurs more than 5 times at a time. I'm not a Garmin pro and I need to know how to shut down the reminder only but not the direction voice, I've searched all setting options are but nowhere to be found. Help.

Happened around 1720hours today, I don't know how to translate `pukau` in English but definitely it's not hypnotize. I lost 2 PDAs, my briefcase containing RM20k of jewelleries, very important documents such as passport, degree certificate, certificates from primary/secondary school, land ownership grants, ASW2020 book and other important documents I don't quite remember. I departed about 5 minutes earlier before the a$$hole got inside my house perhaps `pukau` my mom and my maid as my maid went at the back of the house playing with my daughter along with my daughter's friends while my mom suddenly felt dizzy and fallen asleep. The a$$hole just went straight into the master bedroom and took all belongings except this brand new VAIO laptop which to my surprise they did not take. Thank god. My mom awoke from the `pukau` just when the guy was jumping down the staircase but nothing left to do as her leg muscle was in pain due to her age. My mom just managed to walk slowly and saw the guy rushed into a car waiting a few doors from my house and sped off. My mom said it was a sports car but I think it perhaps was a modified wajadilotion or wiralution or some shit like that.

I was at my shop (I just reached my shop about less than 5 minutes) when my mom called but I knew everything was too late. Luckily they did not hurt my mom nor my daughter. I am thankful anyway because what happened did not become worse.

Car still under warranty. Concern when servicing at the SC they will detect new electronics and silently report to HQ that this car is no longer stock electronically.
