Phone Line Static Sound

Hi all. I'd complained to TM bout my DSL being unstable and I just called to check for a status update and it seems that I was told tomorrow is the due date. Right. I'd waited for one f***ing week.

Anyway, I realised that my line is BRAND NEW (I pulled a new line, replacing the old faulty one), and my line attenuation is like 60. I can clearly hear static hisses and cracks on my phone line when I'm using it.

Question, should I call to another department of TM to complain about my phone line? Can anyone let me know which dept to go to?

Lines after running 3D programs

Hi all, laptop user here, 8600GTM.

It start to appear when my COD4 hangs in game, I killed it, and this came out:

I tried changing drivers, and problem still persists. Only happened a few days ago.

Is it my graphic card problem, or just driver problem?

Is IDE Important?

Hi all. I'm so used to coding my programs for my assignments and stuffs in notepad++, till I hate IDE so much that I think that it's troublesome.

However, I do have netbeans installed. Cos I heard that sometimes IDE really comes into handy, like Netbeans auto align, fix imports, etc...

I saw Eclipse, and JCreator (ohmygodwtfbbqsause) and I don't feel like using them at all.

Is IDE important actually? Would like to hear from you guys.

Java RMI SSL

Hi all. I'd created a RMI Client Server over SSL. How do I check whether the encryption is working or not? Somehow if I use wireshark to sniff the packets I get Java GDC UNENCRYPTED / SSL Certificate plaintext messages on the fly.

I posted my problems in Java main forums, and it seems that my code is ok. It should be working.

Any idea guys?

Intrusion Detection

Hi all. I'm in Year 2, and I'm already planning my dissertation for my final Year. I was chatting with my personal tutor jokingly and I came up with the topic 'Intrusion Detection' back a few months ago. So since it's a new sem this week, he told me that he did some 'research' (more like reading) and he find it interesting.

On the other hand, I read around and I find that Intrusion Detection is not as viable as Intrusion Prevention, or rather not as versatile (CMIIW). I also think that the scope for an IDS or IPS system is a bit too wide as a FYP topic.

Well, if this is the topic I'm going to do, I wonder if there's any people over here in security firms or working experience to comment about intrusion detection or something? Can it be a good research title, or something?

Where can I get more useful information about this topic? I just sent an email to my tutor telling him the same thing I just typed here. I'll be waiitng for his reply to see what he thinks about it.

Meanwhile, I do hope that you guys can contribute. *No I'm not asking you to do my homework* A guideline on where to head to would be awesome and very much appreciated.

Opinions, suggestions, directions, and any other useful information is most welcomed.

Hardcode repaint() working, not hardcode fail

Hi all.

Long story cut short:

I hardcoded my Vehicle Simulation and it works, can see the cars on the panel and moving and traffic lights working too.

I used the built in linked list to create my queue (Data Structures required by my assignment <- Pain in the ass), implemented it, logic is enqueue into queue, paint on the pane (make the car exist upon entering the queue), then dequeue it (and move the car).

My logic is working from what I see but it's not showing on the damn panel I don't know why.

Somehow a pseudocode reference: in which shows that the logic is there and correct

Called it in my Panel's PaintComponent() but it still won't show on the screen, actually before this it showed but I forgot what I did so it's gone now =((((

If a full source code is needed PM me and we'll work something out. <- tho I doubt anyone will be that generous =P

What does the <Item> mean?

Is it the same application for this also?

Yes I tried searching but the results are for icons not menus.

Anyway to fix it?

My system restore got disabled due to low disc space = = So no I can't restore to a previous state.

VOB to DVD and manual subtitles

Hi all. I'd searched in videohelp.com and got my answer. But I'm not sure, so I would like to ask you guys for opinion.

First time posting here, so don't mind me.

I downloaded a torrent which contain VIDEO_TS and other 4 VOB files. I read and it seems that I need to use DVDDecrypter to burn it into DVD.

Now, I downloaded a subtitle separately (it didn't come with it), and it has 2 .srts, 1 for disc 1 and 1 for disc 2.

But apparently it's separated into 4 VOBs...

So I have to convert it back to MPEG2?

Or, join the 4 VOBs, and then separate it into 2, then put the subtitles? I don't know if they sync or not that way...

Someone please enlighten me. First time at attempting. Would appreciate a lot if someone would guide me what to do.

[CSS] IE or FF hack?

Hi all I'm CSS noob. Ok that doesn't help much lol.

... and so I am experimenting with line-height: and I noticed that IE7 and Mozilla FF3 gives a slight difference (it always happen right....)

http://expskin.blogspot.com (dummy blog, I just wanna play around with the CSS).

Now if you visit it via FF it will look "nice" for the text alignment on the 'lines'.

However in IE it somewhat miss a bit and runaway from what I wanted. .____.

Anyone mind to share some light on this? .___."
