HDD Speed

I have 3 hdd... 2 WD and 1 Seagate.. the seagate is my main hdd.. when i run hdtune it shows up like this... see screenshot.. is something wrong with the seagate 1?..

I need a quad processor... Should i go for q6600 or wait for the q9450 or q9550? is it worth that price?... where q6600 has 9x multiplier, q9450 has 8x and q9550 has 9x... q9550 is double the price of q6600 and q9450 is 1.35x the price of q6600... My budget is RM1000 and I'm a OCer...

How to know if mobo or proc died?

When i start my comp... No screen comes out... But the mobo got light and network light... It checks the DVD drive then stop... No activity light, no RAM light... can't switch off unless i hold the on button for a long time... But i touch the heatsink it is warm... Any ideas?

Heatsink Lapping

Requirement:
2x400grit sandpaper
2x800grit sandpaper
2x1200grit sandpaper
2x1500grit sandpaper
1x2000grit sandpaper
a flat surface
some patience and time

This is the original heatsink...

As you can see that it is very rough and not balanced...

Firstly, you use the flat surface to lay your sandpaper so that it wont be the heatsink wont be imbalance.. Start with 400grit you put the heatsink on the sandpaper.. then you push it(don't use force as it may cause the heatsink to have rounded edge) up and down after a few rounds turn the heatsink 180degrees and do it again... repeat until you have a full polished surface... Go either horizontally or vertically to make it easier to see which part of it is not polished... Repeat with ascending grit sandpapers..

Note: Start with 400grit if you have a very rough heatsink surface ... Otherwise you can start with 800 or so...

After I finished polishing with the sandpaper... I used some industrial grade metal polish to make it shine further...

You can do the same to the CPU but start with 1200grit as CPU IHS is made of soft metals...

After polishing CPU(my e6600)

Results of hardwork:
Before polishing(ambient temp 24�C)

After polishing(ambient temp 30.1�C)

As you can see it shove of 2�C of the idle temp and almost 6��C of the load temp...

Core Voltage fluctuating!

With EIST and C1E enabled... Will the core voltage flunctuate?... Or only the multiplier change?... My core voltage is flunctuating...

ARGH... Its not solved yet... my core voltage wont change even if i change it to 1.34 and it stays at 1.31 and fluctuate between 1.31v - 1.18v ..... HELP!!=.= isit my mobo kong liao?... or CPU?...

After i added 2GB crucial ballistix 6400 RAM with my 1GB corsair xms2 6400... I cant seem to OC over 2.5GHz... Before that with only 1GB xms2 i can reach 3.6GHz no prob... Now cannot POST if higher than 2.5GHz... Also tried running with 5-5-5-18 timing ... They r running 1:1 DRAM:FSB ratio... Do i need to increase anything after adding RAM?... My comp specs r on my sig...

Sometimes when I turn on my computer it cant pass POST and ask me to change the settings in the bios... When i check the RAM settings are back to default 800Mhz 5-5-5-18 @ 1.84V ... How can that be?... But after i set all settings back to default(Automatic) that is 2.4Ghz and 800Mhz 5-5-5-18 @ 1.84V.. Boot it once and restart and change the settings in bios to the settings above and it passed POST...
