Help me! Extremely sloooooooow POSTing...

Okay, for starters... POST means Power-on-self-test. So please don't ask me what is POST

Here's my problem:
I have a PC which most of the time is left off as it serves as my secondary rig, mainly for doing assignments or short period of web surfing. It has a S754 AMD Sempron 2800+ processor, motherboard is Abit NF-8 with 512MB of DDR400 RAM in 2 x 256MB configuration, Nvidia FX5200 graphics card and integrated soundcard. I have disconnected all floppy drives, hard drives and optical drives so we can leave them out of this

As title suggest, this PC suffers from extremely sloooooooow POSTing. So slow that the characters show up one by one like a typewriter! In fact, I think a typewriter is faster, for example: At the screen with an Energy Star logo, "A" will show up (Pauses for 0.5 sec), then "M" (Pauses for 0.5 sec), then "D" (Pauses for 0.5 sec), then "S" ... Until finally "AMD Sempron 2800+ Processor" is formed. It goes like this until Memory Test: (whatever numbers)KB OK, and stops/hangs. Nothing more

Any idea what's the problem?

Hi, I hope this is the right place to ask... If not, then MODs please help me move my topic

Well, as the topic suggest, which number should I dial to get support or services for my Dell LCD?
I tried calling 1800-88-1306 which is their Tech Support line, but the computer requires me to input something called Service Tag. And I can't find that thingy anywhere on my LCD

Then I called 1800-88-0334 -> 3(Technical Support) -> 2(Desktops) -> Dimension/Optiplex. Those are the options available. Nothing for monitors Should I just chose the option for the Dell Dimension series?

Or does anyone know of a particular number that I can call?

W610i Signal Problem

Hi,

My W610i is currently having signal problems. The signal bar/strength just goes up and down and up and down and... Can't seem to get a stable line, and if I hold the phone in my hands, the condition is worse still as all I get is "Emergency calls only"... Hold it longer and it'll become "No network coverage"

Is it a hardware problem or software problem? I'm using MAXIS and the phone's firmware is R1KG001.

Hi guys, I faced this weirdy problem just now.

I was typing a reply to a thread in this forum for about 5 minutes ... Yeah, it took me this long because I was thinking what to write Anyway, when I clicked on the "Preview Post" button, my monitor suddenly went blank and the whole PC was not responding.

I couldn't get it to boot even after powering off and on for several times, same result for reset, no beep no POST screen. So I decided to do a CMOS reset, and walla! My computer booted up and is working like a charm now

I know I've solved my problem but I would like to know the cause of it. Anyone faced this kind of thingy before? If this is a sign of potential hardware failure, what could it be?

Why do my PCs always get weird problems?

Anyway, below are the specs. for my rig:

As of now, I've trouble getting my rig to operate normally. The problem started on last Friday, while I was gaming the whole system just turned itself off. After that sometimes it could turn on for 10 minutes/5 minutes/just a few seconds before turning off again, even if I somehow managed to shutdown my rig via Windows, I could only turn it on for a few seconds before the whole thing just shuts off. Last night when I press the power button it turned on then off then on then off continuosly ... Cool huh?

I already took out my soundcard, 2 HDDs, all USB devices, all 3 fans, as well as the Musketeer but the problem persists. So I need some opinions, what do you guys think? Is my PSU dying on me or something is wrong with my motherboard? Or is it something else?

Aprreciate any help I can get
