Highest Internal Salary Increment

Hi,

I would just like to do a survey on the highest increment percentage you received in a company, for the same position; without promotion.

What prompted the increment? Confirmation? Yearly Review? Performance Review?

What about the time frame to achieve that increment?

I would just like to see how the HR in other companies work. i.e. has a ceiling range for increment in terms of RM? maximum increment percentage? etc.

(I'm asking just to see if it were remotely possible to negotiate for my desired short term salary range after my contract expires)

Especially in the IT field, where you get "rewarded" for jumping around, I would just like to see how many are rewarded for their loyalty.

I can't seem to understand how and why you cannot approve a substantial increment for someone who has already been at your company for long enough and knows the stuff, but instead, paying crazy increments to someone coming from outside, but has to come in and learn everything again. Kinda f***ed up that we have to work by some HR policy that doesn't even make sense.

Discuss.

Implement jQuery UI into CakePHP application

I'm working on something during my free time and at the same time trying to learn. I read around and know that it is possible to implement jQuery UI into a CakePHP application and that it was supposed to be easy.

Been mingling around for a while and still have no idea. Would appreciate if anyone could guide me on how to implement this. I'm using:-

- jQuery UI 1.7.2 or I could move to jQuery UI 1.6 if needed.
- CakePHP 1.2.3.8166

Now, when i downloaded the zipped jQuery UI file, it includes

- css dir (have ui - darkness dir here and an img folder inside it along with a jquery.css file)
- development dir (a shit load of directories and files in here)
- js dir (the jquery.js file seems to be in here)
- index.html

Second thing is, besides the view, do i need to load any components, helpers or the likes into my controller to be able to use this UI? would appreciate if someone could include the code for the view and contoller as im very much clueless.

my cakephp app is just a fresh install with the "blog tutorial" setup on it only. trying to get this setup before moving onto other stuff. hope someone can help me out with this coz i cant design and code even if my life depended on it.

VirtualBox hanging during cPanel installation

So here's the thing.

I'm running VirtualBox 3.0 on a Vista Ultimate host and installed a CentOS 5.3 guest on it. Working ok. I already selected a very minimum installation for the OS and have allocated 1.2GB RAM to the guest. Total of 2GB on the system. Hard disk space allocated was about 12GB.

Thing is, when i'm installing cPanel onto CentOS, the bloody thing will hang before the installation completes. When it hangs, even the cursor cannot be moved and the guest OS just freezes there. While on the other hand, the Vista Ultimate is working smoothly.

So I suspect this could be a problem with VirtualBox but I cant pinpoint the problem and have not come across any solution.

I checked the Vbox.log and everything seems to be ok until it reaches the error code:

The installation is just a stupid terminal and I dont understand how that can even hang. I'm downloading VMWare now but hope to find a solution to this problem as it is not guaranteed that VMWare would be any different.
