1Malaysia F1 Team

QUOTE

Malaysian F1 team to debut next year

2009/09/15

PUTRAJAYA: The 1Malaysia F1 Team, a joint venture between the government and private sectors in the country, will participate in the F1 race beginning next year, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced today.

The Prime Minister said the project involved the combined expertise of Proton and Lotus with the support of the Sepang International Circuit (SIC), Motorsports Association of Malaysia (MAM), Naza Motor and Air Asia.

Najib, who is also the Finance Minister I, told reporters when making the announcement at the Finance Ministry that leading corporate figures such as Datuk Seri Tony Fernandes, Datuk Kamarudin Meranun and S.M Nasarudin S.M Nasimuddin were also involved in the initiative.

"This is the Malaysian team. The car was designed at the SIC, manufactured at the SIC, tested at the SIC and the car is Malaysian-made. Even the pit stop team consists of Malaysians," he said.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Razak launced 1Malaysia F1 Team in Putrajaya today. The project is a Government-private sector collaboration. With him are (left to right) Director of 1 Malaysia F1 Team Sdn Bhd Zahri Ismail, Proton's Datuk Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh, and AirAsia's Datuk Kamarudin Meranun. Pix by David Khoo

He said the 1Malaysia Team would identify a suitable Malaysian driver, adding that the project could lift the country's image in the international arena.

Najib said the FIA had received Malaysia's application to participate in the World F1 Championship next year.

Asked on the budget and the total investment by the government, Najib said: "The Malaysian government's investment is through Proton".

Najib said the project was not a waste because it would provide a strong marketing element to the country when it competed in the F1 championship.

"If we want to export the Proton, we must ensure that the brand is strong. There is a strong element of marketing. It is not merely a sporting activity because there is an element of marketing for Proton and Malaysia while at the same time, the Air Asia and Naza brand names can be popularised," he said.

According to a press release issued by a local public relations company for the 1Malaysia F1 Team, the national team will be based at SIC.

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Universiti Petronas as well as Composite Technology Research Malaysia (CTRM), a leading local composite manufacturing expert, have already been engaged to participate in the project.

The statement said the national F1 team would integrate the Malaysian technical and pit crew totaling 200 people to be managed by one of Formula One''s most respected technical director, Mike Gascoyne.

He had already recruited a core team of international experts with proven record in the various engineering, design and manufacturing disciplines needed to ensure that the 1Malaysia F1 team was of international standard, readiness and capable of competing with the world''s greatest drivers.

Currently, six local and international drivers have been shortlisted for evaluation and the team is expected to announce its two drivers by end of next month.

The statement quoted Najib as saying that the country's participation in Formula One with the national team had far reaching objectives, mainly the advancement of the country''s automotive industry development from the technological aspect including initiatives in green technology.

"By establishing our racing centre within the country, we hope to also attract more foreign investments and the best technical minds which, in turn, will spur the growth of our automotive industry where we hope to see more R&D into lighter, safer and more cost-effective cars," he said.

"We further anticipate higher commitment by organisations and attendance by individuals during the F1 Petronas Malaysian GP which will be coupled with increased tourism related returns," Najib said.

He said by creating a national F1 team, the country was taking its motor sports to its pinnacle, thus ensuring its place in this internationally embraced sports that had scaled the heights of entertainment.

The 1Malaysia F1 Team takes its name from the "1Malaysia - People First, Performance Now" policy mooted by Najib in June this year as the unifying foundation for all Malaysians to come together in celebrating its cooperation among it multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-religious society for the betterment of the nation.

Petronas, the national oil giant, has also made advancement in this arena via its sponsorship of the BMW-Sauber Team for the last four years.

The setting up of the national team is a natural progression to increase the country's returns from investment in Formula One.
-- BERNAMA

SOS

I have mixed feelings regarding this so called project.

May open up more jobs for locals but may backfire by wasting public funds if this project fails..

What do you guys think?
Hi,

I have some questions regarding Trust Funds. From my noob understanding, the are a lot types of trust funds such as unit trusts, fixed trusts (like a will).

Actually i knew someone who going the inherit her trust fund from her boyfriend's family but i have doubts and i think it is a CON. Tried to tell her about this matter but she is ignoring me. I was wondering do we need to pay anything if we are going to inherit some one's trust fund especially from overseas (England to be exact). My friend need to pay RM2k to facilitate the transfer which i think is ridiculous. Anyone can help me over this matter??

Really appreciate your feedbacks if any..please do ask more info if you guys are not clear with my questions.

Hi,

I have one of my friend here whose savings account being freezed due to his failure of paying the minimum monthly payment of his MBB credit card debt. He owed nearly RM5k to MBB. Just wondering whether the bank is liable to freeze one of their customer's account if they failed to pay the credit card debt? He missed 3 months of payment. Now he can't withdraw his wage for Raya celebrations.

Anyone here can give better picture to this mess??

Hi Guys,

Just wondering whether some of you have tried the UniAsia Guaranteed Cash scheme. I have already signed up for the plan but planning to cancel it. Why? The agent who approached me told me that i would only be paying RM1,2xx once and will get 5% of the sum assured (minimum sum given is RM10k) + 3% or more from EON Bank group yearly profit. But when i got the policy / contract, it stated there i have to pay RM1,2xx annually which makes me pissed off coz the agent stated differently to me..So need your advice..should i continue the policy or not?

Here is the LINK

[HELP]8800GT Artifact Issues

Guys,

Last week monday, i had just bought a Zotac 8800GT from Moderno. For the first 2 days, the GC runs perfectly (2-3 hours of gaming only due to work commitment) then on Wednesday, after playing Assasin Creed for just 5 minutes, my monitor just went blank (no signal) detected then i rebooted my rig which then hangs on before the Logon Screen (Windows Vista Ultimate) and a blue screen comes out saying that the GC drivers has failed to load..

So i went into Safe Mode and it runs perfectly well but after rebooting, some red lines comes out and the words jumbled out. Then i tried to plug in back the GC and make sure all the connections are fitted correctly but the same problem happens

Reported to Moderno and he kindly helped me to send for testing and RMA with the supplier. According to Moderno, the supplier stated that the card doesn't have any problems at all during their testing which i felt very weird. Then only today i managed to get back the card so i tested it out on my rig one more time. For the first 30 minutes of playing GRID, the card runs perfectly well (no problems @ all) then i decided to reformat my PC back to Windows XP. The artifact problems re-occured

Based on Moderno, most likely is my rig airflow is not balance (cause the GC to overheat). I have removed the side panel and put a fan below the card, also the problem still occurs Have tried to clean up the PCIe 16x slot, re adjust all the cables, removed the side panel, put a casing fan under the GC but still cannot manage to solve the problem..

Do you guys have any more ideas?? Before i go and trouble Moderno again and ask him to test

So sad that i can't enjoy my latest GC

My Rigs specs are:

Biostar TF560
AMD 64 x 2 4000+
Zotac 8800GT 512MB
4GB Corsair XMS 2 RAM
Cooler Master Extreme Power 550W
250GB Seagate SATA II HDD
2 DVDRW (Pioneer & LG)
Cooler Master Mystique 632 Casing
3 Casing Fans
17' Samsung SyncMaster 713N Monitor

What you think that causes this problem?? Bored of using my lappie...want to use my PC to play games and release tension

Before Format and send to Moderno
[attachmentid=543467]

After getting back from Moderno
[attachmentid=543469]

Hi Guys,

I just bought the 2GB (1GB x 2) Corsair XMS2 Kit from LYP this afternoon. @ first I was just thinking adding another 2GB of Kingston Value RAM to my rig but changed my mind after last minute. I tried to install the new acquired RAM to my mobo and removed my other 2GB Kingston DDR800 (Elpida chipset) to my Biostar TF560 mobo. The mobo successfully detected the XMS2 kit but soon after booting into my Windows, the dreadful BSOD screen appreared Tried to use only one module and the same issue appeared..

Could anyone help me here?? Checked my Bios RAM settings and it only support min 1.95v. The XMS2 voltage writings on the RAM is 1.9v. Could be this is the cause of the dreadful BSOD??

Here's my RIG specs..

AMD 64 4000+
Biostar TF560
2 x 1GB Kingston DDR800 (Elpida chipset)

The XMS2 details:
CM2X1024-6400
5-5-5-12 Timing
1.90v

Please help me here guys Lucky i didn't bought 2 sets as i was short on cash that time
