Freeware Anti Viruses

There are a multitude of Free Anti Virus softwares around on the Internet...

some example are :

AVG
Avast
AntiVir
ClamAV
and many others...

Many of these free anti virus programs are better than resource hungry NAV and McAfee which sometimes consume more resources than the viruses itself...

Tell us your experience, which are the best ones... fastest ones.... least resource hungry...

My first experience / comment is : the new AVG 8.0 is slower than AVG 7.5... anybody notice it ?

Nforce Networking

anyone face before built in ethernet controller of nforce mainboards fail.

the icon show connected, totally no errors but cannot connect, not tcp problem as netbios protocol cant work as well

driver working fine, windows does not report errors, latest driver and old driver also cant work...

reinstall windows also cant work.

direct crossover cable or switch also cannot work... connect to another nforce ether controller also cant work...

then changed to another pci network card no problem at all...

problem is solved, so i suspect the nforce ethernet controller damage, but what a strange way to damage... fools the user into thinking there is a problem with the windows/drivers/cable etc

i check on some other technical websites and forums, they also face this problem... on nforce 2/3/4 and even newer models

anyone face this problem here ?
