Aztech DSL 600EU ETH/ACT Light Indicator Problem

Hi guys. I was wondering if you people can help me diagnose my problem and offer me a solution.

I'm currently using a Aztech DSL 600EU for one PC only. I usually leave my PC running 24/7 and also the modem running all day long while being connected to the internet. My current ISP is Streamyx.

My internet connection as far i've known is very stable. I almost never encounter any random disconnections whatsoever. Sometimes i will usually just restart my PC and modem together if i experience slow performance.

Recently, i noticed that my modem disconnects from the internet randomly. What i notice is the ETH/ACT light indicator on the modem is not lighted up whereas when it is active, it will blink. This has cause me to lose connection on regular intervals and i find this very frustrating. The only way that i've found out to solve this problem is to restart the modem and the connection will be back to normal. After that, it will just disconnect again.

I was wondering what the possible cause of this might be. Hope you guys can help out. A friend pointed out that it might be my network card thats faulty.

Any suggestions on what should i do to solve my problem? Should i call streamyx or buy a new Aztech DSL 600EU modem?

Thanks in advance!

Don't Arm Wrestle

Hey people, i would like to share about my experience that did not turn out to be very pretty.

From the topic title alone, it already suggests that arm wrestling might not be as harmless as you may thought it was.

To keep things short and concise, i had a spiral fracture of my upper arm (humerus bone) as a result of arm wrestling. During the incident itself, after much struggling back and forth, my right arm suddenly gave way and emitted a loud SNAP sound similar to a freshly oil dipped keropok. No kidding. It was that loud. My arm went limp and after picking it up with my left hand, there was a rush of immense pain that hit my brain like a freaking sledgehammer. I went into shock but didn't pass out. Forward 2 days later, i went for surgery to insert a stainless steel bar with 7 screws to fix my arm.

That being done, the consultant cum surgeon told me it will take 6 weeks for the bone to mend itself and a total of 1 year plus for the bone to be back to normal. 2 years later i have to do another operation to remove the steel bar. I'm 6 feet ' 3 and i weigh 76.3 kg (according to the hospital digital scale).

Meanwhile, i'm temporarily disabled and have to defer my uni exams and bodybuilding regime (Yes, this incident has made me depressed). Plus, i'm flying to the middle east for some business in 2 weeks time- i wouldnt be surprised that the metal detector will beep because of my arm.

Was it worth it? Absolutely not.

So anyways, just as a reminder, don't disregard arm wrestling as something as 'fun' and 'harmless'.

I might upload some post surgery pictures later. Depends if you guys wanna see he damage caused.

Oh, ill be removing my surgical staples tomorrow. Yay!

Any Suggestions?

Alright, so i'm stuck in an awkward situation at the moment.

To cut things short, there was this girl who showed strong interest in me. Things were going fine after she confessed. At first i didn't like her yet. However, it was only later did i begin to like her. We continued talking alot and enjoyed one another's companionship enormously.

Then, things just went downhill from there. After returning back after seeing her back in Singapore, i noticed that she didn't message me or initiate chats with me on MSN. Although we haven't officially become a couple yet, we did talk about 'us'. Then again, things just wouldn't turn out to be fair for both of us, so we sorta shoved the idea down the drain.

In the meantime, i'm trying to figure out why is she behaving cold to me. Whenever i message her, she would reply slowly unlike other times where she'll type a whole bunch of words/talk on the phone enthusiastically. Looking back, i never did anything to hurt her whatsoever.

Before calling her to ask, can anyone rationalize why she's acting like that? Is it because she's gotten bored of me or she's just not interested anymore? I'm kinda confused by her behavior.

Seeking Opinions about Epiphone Les Paul 100

Heya Peeps,

I've been reading through this board for quite sometime already and i'm in midst of deciding on whether i should go for the Epiphone Les Paul 100 as my very first guitar. My second choice is a Ibanez GRG 150, btw.

Being a complete beginner (although i do know how to play 'Nothing Else Matters' by Metallica on Acoustic relatively well) and making a shift from drumming, i would like to seek opinions about this particular model.

Judging from the numerous positive reviews i've read while doing research over the net on websites such as Ultimate Guitar.com and other miscellaneous sites, it seems that this budget model has almost all the stuff i would love to have for my first E-guitar. The thing is quite heavy though, thanks to the mahagony body!

However, i would love to know what you guys(who own this model or have played it) have to say about this model such as its tone, its build quality and reliability.

As for me, i lean towards indie rock(i think fender stratocasters is more appropriate for this genre), hard rock, alternative, jazz and the blues. From what i read, this guitar has proven to be versatile at playing almost any genre out there.

What amp model will you guys recommend to me to pair up with this baby? I'm looking at a 15-watt one in the meantime as foresee myself doing alot practicing at home before i go jamming in studios or perhaps later, on stage(!) one day.

Lastly, i would like to know what is the effect(sound) like if i modify the humbacks(to better ones) or lower the strings. Also, do the number of frets matter much? For example, i notice some Ibanez or ESP models have 24 instead of 22.

Oh, i forgot to mention i'm a big fan of Dreamtheater, John Petrucci, Steve Vai and his bassist, Phillip Boyle and Joe Satriani!

Pardon me if this general post is meant to be in a completely different section. If it is, i'll relocate it to the appropriate topic post.

Thanks guys!

Looking for recommendations for notebook

Hi people,

I'm in the middle of deciding to get a new notebook but i don't have any clue which one to get. So far, i haven't been exactly searching or been walking around to look at the different brands and models offered in the market because i can't find time to do so.

In the meantime, i thought i could turn to you guys for a little help. Hehe. Alright, my preferences for getting a notebook is preferentially one that is:

- light in weight (below the 2kg)
- has a reasonably big lcd screen - 13 or 14 widescreen (any bigger than that , i think it'll add more weight)
- is reasonably fast (it doesn't have to come with the latest intel core 2 processor) to run normal to semi-intensive applications
- has reasonable battery life
- looks nice/executive look
- has good after service or international warranties.

My budget is RM 8000. I hope you guys can help me out here, as i would really appreciate it! I hope you can specify the brand and model, if possible.

Btw, i wouldn't want anyone to recommend me any of Sony's Vaio range of notebooks because i've had bad experience with them - so that's out of the picture. Hehe
