Maxis is going to offer their IPO this coming monday. (26/10/09). How do I apply for the IPO? what do I need? through broker? through bank?

It's been about 1 year after the launch of Mobile Number Portability (MNP) in Malaysia.

Did Digi fail to get the customers they were hoping to get from MNP?

If we look at the telco industry today, the market share for Digi hasn't altered much after MNP.

Interestingly, the market share for Celcom has surged. One can summarize that the net effect of MNP is customers from Maxis switching to Celcom, not to Digi.

Celcom has been gaining a substantial amount of postpaid users, which is traditionally a Maxis monopoly and their 'cash cow'.

Looks like the battle ahead would be between the incumbent Maxis and the GLC - Celcom.

Maxis, in my opinion, is suffering from 'image fatigue' and is becoming a victim of their own success. Why do I say image fatigue? They are banking too much on their branding , hoping that users would be willing to pay a little premium for the brand. Of course, if this sort of market strategy is followed by the overall improvement of service quality, it may work. However, Maxis network has been plagued by many problems of late - frequent drop calls, network busy, getting an out of reach tone even if the other use is full bar within coverage.

A victim of their own success, why do I say this? Success is because Maxis is making a lot of money from their operation in Malaysia and an array of new products have been launched for this purpose. However, this is normally followed by their overtly confused staffs over the counter whom are not up to date with the products, and hence giving atrocious advice to customers who wish to sign up for these products. This irrevocably leads to mistakes reflected on customers bills.

When this does happen (and it happens lots of time), time is wasted on the customers side who have to call the 123 service line to clarify the extra charges on their bills, or the mismatch of the products they want from the products given by Maxis. This is not helped by the equally confused 123 staffs, and almost always, the customers need to go back to the agent or the maxis outlets they subscribed the service to rectify the problems. The long queue at the maxis counters is not helping either.

Because of this, many maxis postpaid customers are simply, fed up, and decided to switch to Celcom when they learn that they could retain their numbers.

Dear all,

I bought a car while I was working at labuan 2 years ago. I shifted to Selangor 1 year ago.

I wanted to renew my insurance but was told I need to get my car 'endorsed' in West Malaysia through a JPJ office before I could do so.

I just called up JPJ selangor and they give me rather unconvincing answer of just 'bringing the Car garan and fill in some forms at local JPJ office'.

MY father told me that I need to go to Puspakom to get my car taxed....

Insurance company said if my car not endorsed, they will refuse to pay compensation... like that also got????

I am so confused... please help.. anyone?

what do I need to bring to JPJ office? need to pay anything?

Got any car insurance agent here who can do this for me?

Hello all,

I own a honda vtec 1.5. I always wonder if

1. I can shift the gear from D to N while going down a slope to save oil, and when the car has slowed down enough, I switch back to D. Is this kind of practice safe? will it damage the car if I suddenly shift the gear from N do D while the car is travelling at high speed?

2. SOme also tell me that whenever possible , when we stop at traffic light or stuck in traffic jam, we should put our gear at N to avoid too much wear and tear of the brakes.
