Well, I went to the zoo recently to capture some shots and it was the longest time ever spent there. From opening to closing, waiting for the right moments. Didn't even walk the whole zoo, spent most time at one location, composing, recomposing, waiting for hippos and lions to yawn.

Got some shots in colour but decided to go black and white for most of them. Here is the B&W series:

Responsible Dog Ownership Day @ Central Park

Went for my first outdoor doggie event at the recently held Responsible Dog Ownership Day in Central Park at Bandar Utama.

So, here are my selected shots for the event:

A trip to the local birdpark

Went to the KL Birdpark after work on Raya and got a couple of shots in.

1. Peacocks were everywhere so you kinda have to shoot them. They demand your attention.

2. And they have awesome tails!

3. Just when I decided not to shoot him anymore, he decided to show off further!

4. But I still prefer the cuter and smaller love birds

5. I wanted to get really close to the eagles but while there was a walk way, the doors were locked.

6. And then, off to the hornbill section

7. I told them the common courtesy is to knock, they weren't listening

8. Off to the waterfall aviary to catch some waterbirds, and Papa Mafia here was standing there watching over everybody

9. And then he swooped! (Note: I suck at panning and doing it with birds was even worse!)

10. Final trip to the feeding session at the Parrot section before I trudged off home

And of course, tried to capture something with the D90 as well.

Let's go to Halong Bay

One thing about travelling with a prime lens is that you lose the flexibility but it also makes you explore new angles. I went to Hanoi recently and of course, Halong Bay as well.

It is really a beautiful place and here are my attempts at capturing the essence of my trip using the Nikon D40 and 105mm.

Laman 08 Dengan G9

Laman 08 was ending on Sunday and together with two friends, we went to take a look at it. It was no floral fest but it had enough flowers and stuff to keep us occupied for a good one and half hours.

Tour of the Grand Palace, Bangkok

Macro Outing at KL Butterfly Park

Well, some of you may know that today, a few of us went to the KL Butterfly Farm for a macro outing. The day started on the wrong note though as I thought entrance was RM4 but it was RM9 (inclusive of camera charge). Aduh! But never mind, we can afford Then, no tripod allowed! There goes my hope of good shots with the MSN202.

So, with my lil trusty Canon Powershot G9, I set about my task and these are the results. Hope you enjoy them and do a drop a comment or two Constructive criticism is all part of the learning process so don't be shy

1. Before entering the Park, I took a few shot outside of some bees? flies? having their morning breakfast

Bridge Over River Kwai & Memorial Park (Thailand)

Went to Thailand a while back and of course, took quite a number of shots. This is a HDR series of two of the places I went, the Bridge Over River Kwai and WWII Memorial Park located on the outskirts of Bangkok.

1. This is the bridge itself. It actually has a railway track that runs across it. It was built by POWs back in World War 2

2. Of course, you can walk on the bridge

3. Went for a different angle, by placing my camera almost on the railway track itself. The strap actually went in between the tracks and nearly got caught onto it

4. The train service is actually still running but I am not sure if its just a tourist gimmick

5. And of course, what is a tourist place without street food? She had good grilled sotong!

6. Next, after the Bridge, we visited the WWII Memorial Park. It was more touching for the Australians in our tour as they were actually history teachers. So they knew more about it than we did.

7. It was a memorial for the people who suffered as POWs and built the bridge

8. The graves are lined up neatly and the park is well-maintained

9. We were just after ANZ Day so there were fresh wreath being placed there
