Is it possible to store Chinese character in MySQL

I'd like to know if its possible to store chinese characters as they are in the DB. for example, right now I have:

南极星 converted to &# 21335 ; &# 26497 ; &# 26143 ; when viewed through phpMyAdmin

is it possible for it to be 南极星 in the DB?
column is set as UTF8 , utf8_general_ci charset

hi,

Ive got 2 savings account that Im rarely using, and am thinking of closing those accounts. My question is, will closing the account have any effect on applying for a housing loan/anything else from the same bank later on? btw, 1 account has some money in it and the other is already empty/inactve status.

tightening tremolo springs on strat

changed the strings on my strat from 9 to 10, so the tremolo is bulging out of its place. Wanna check the steps with u guys before i actually fix it:

1. open back cover
do
{
2. loosen strings
3. tighten screw at hook
4. tighten string to standard tuning and check
}while ( tremolo != horizontal)
5. check string height, intonation etc while I'm at it

wondering if anyone is coming to malaysia from US, would like to tumpang a 10pack D'addario string set

Wierd Laptop screen problem

Hi all,

Im trying to troubleshoot my laptop, The screen is shrinked .. pls see the following pic

Its a hardware problem since the screen size and location is the same even in the bios. Cant seem to find the bios settings for the video though.

laptop model : Hyundai M-life HYM545V
Age of item : 2 yrs
First problem occurence : this year..

any sifus here know if theres a key combination to access any advanced features in the bios (like the gigabyte mobos have CTRL+F1 for ram timings).

anyone here around subang who repairs laptops ?

i got offers from both companies, so i would appreciate if u guys could give feedback on which companies u would suggest to join, and maybe if can, state the reasons.. I have read all the threads on panasonic and motorola already, so u dont have to give really detailed information, just want to know which one would u guys pick...

Panasonic - R&D Engineer, Contract 6 months(probation??)

maybe u guys could mention the work hours between the two and maybe the staff activities, increments..

need to repair integrated amp

im suspecting its a problem with the volume control rheostat. seems like the sound isnt being amplified and the volume control doesnt work. however i can hear music but at a very slow volume if i put my ears very close to the speakers. Its an 'old' NAD integrated amp.

can anyone recommend a shop that can repair it? n how much should i be expecting it to cost?

btw, looking for shops preferably around pj/subang area.

Gonna start my final year soon.. currently deciding which major to take. so hoping to get additional insight from u guys

The requirement is to take 3 subjects from the major u choose + 1 subject from any other major.. total 4 subjects.

Im currently inclined to take Computer Systems engin major + Mobile communications. however, seems like there are a lot of comp systems graduates aredi. so would i be competing with the ppl doing computer science and all? Instrumentation and contrl subjects focus more on plants. and im not that interested in micro electronics and Power.

should i take Computer Systems engin major + Mobile communications
or Communications engin major + microcontroller?

ill just include all the options so u guys can see.

Need help with DIY Car Stereo Aux cable

My car is using the Blaupunkt Honolulu CD50 CD players, n i want to make a 3.5mm aux in cable to connect my ipod. the one they sell is sumthing like this:

id like to check the connections with u guys first. 1 should be Left channel, the other is Right channel.. 3rd one ground?
however, most headphone cables have only 2 wires (from looking at the shielding). which type of cables use 3 wires?

btw, should i be worried bout voltages coming in from the cd player?

the cushion or foam on my audio technica clip-ons are now powdery and and i need to replace them. i remember seeing the full size and normal earphone cushions being sold at a shop in sungeiwang.. but mine uses the midsize type. was wondering if u guys know where i can get them

2. Plugging the AV cable into the TV

You're probably thinking that you don't need help doing this one. Well let me tell you, you do. Since Apple wants you to buy their proprietary cable, they decided to be sneaky. They send the video over the Red RCA cable (usually yellow). Therefore, they send the audio over the white and yellow cables. Oh you're so tricky Apple, whatever will we do? In easier words, do the following:

Red RCA plug -> TV's yellow RCA jack
Yellow RCA plug -> TV's white RCA jack
White RCA plug -> TV's red RCA jack

If you can believe it, that's all you have to do. Pretty much the only tricky thing was switching the Red and Yellow RCA cables. If you have any problems, let us know and we'll get our directions fixed. Enjoy.

just wondering how much is the price and is it available from car accessories shops. The car is a Proton Juara, CD player model : Blaupunkt Honolulu CD50

the cable is connected to the cd changer inputs on the player (pin 18,19,20), and can be used play mp3 player thru the aux in.

Q's on guitar strings

I read that stainless steel strings can cause faster fret wear compared to nickel plated strings. anyone know more bout this @ have tested the diff types of strings? which do u prefer (feel, sound etc..)?

09's n 10's string gauges. long story cut short.. bought guitar, forgot to ask stock string gauge(10),they changed strings to 9's, brought home,got some buzzing at first few frets, think the shop didn't adjust neck.
now im thinking ; continue using 9's n send for setup, or use 10's n no need to change neck. ive been using 9's all this while, would like to know if 10's are still playable (still easy to bend, vibrato etc..). havent got the time to test 4 myself at shop so asking here 1st until i have the time to go.

another thing. is there a shop that can do setups on the spot (few hours) without coming to get the guitar on another day n with good workmanship. i sent my other guitar to a shop in taipan for setup.. came back with scratches at the saddles and bridge
