First of all welcome to this official thread for Celcom Broadband, a wireless broadband via 3G service. This thread is a place where all Celcom Broadband subscribers gather be it to show off their speedtest results or to rant. If you have anything related to Celcom Broadband which you would like to discuss on, do not hesitate to post it in here.

The Official Celcom Broadband Thread Guideline :
1) Do not spam especially with a zero value post. Example "Today's speed is bad", if you would like to say the speed is bad at least provide a screenshot of a bandwidth test result.
2) Do not treat this as a Kopitiam topic, serious offenders will be given a warning.
3) No flame baiting be it starting a flame bait or joining.
4) There are at times posts related to downloads via P2P programs, discussions on this must not go over the limits especially discussing on illegal/copyrighted materials.
5) Do not use any vulgarities or profanities. Action will be taken if you are found to have used any vulgarities or profanities.
6) Celcom Broadband agents and resellers are not to promote in here.
7) Last but not least, be friendly and make this place a better one for everyone.

Buffalo routers became a hot selling product somewhere around last year when it is known to be using the Broadcom chipset which allows it to be flashed to a third party firmware such as DD-WRT and Tomato. It was the WHR-G54S model that became one of the most wanted router at that time because the price of it was as low as RM145 and best of all once flashed with a third party firmware, it performs like any other expensive router with rich features. The price then were raised by most shops because it was on demand and the stocks are very limited at the moment due to the supplier not having stocks to supply.

Below are the Buffalo routers currently confirmed to be compatible with third party firmwares and are available in Malaysia :

Buffalo WHR-G54S (DD-WRT and Tomato tested to be working fine)

Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 (DD-WRT and Tomato tested to be working fine)

Buffalo WHR-G125 (Requires at least DD-WRT v24-build2007-0516, Tomato not supported)

The Buffalo WHR-G54S and WHR-HP-G54 are still based on the Broadcom5352 chipset which is the one used in Linksys WRT54GL so it is compatible with most third party firmwares. The Buffalo WHR-G125 on the other hand is based on the newer Broadcom5354 chipset which has a default clock speed of 240MHz, for DD-WRT you will have to flash it with DD-WRT v24-build2007-0516 as the older ones do not support this chipset while Tomato isn't supported at all.

Above is a screenshot of my Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 flashed with the latest Tomato 1.17 firmware. After flashing to a third party firmware, it performs really well and the QoS works like a charm so the word lag has been erased from my dictionary.

THE BROADBAND RANT SINK V2

Alright it has been more than a year since the first Broadband Rant Sink topic has been created and it has more than 2,500 replies in there which shows that there are a lot of frustrated broadband users here in Malaysia. Before this topic was created, there were many topics that just rants all day long about how bad or slow their Internet connection is. To combat this problem, a Broadband Rant Sink topic was created so that forum members of Lowyat.net can rant about their connection without having the need to create a new topic. With this, the V2 will be a continuation of the first Broadband Rant Sink topic. Feel free to rant about anything and everything about your Internet connection here.

I know most of you will go for LAN friendly matches but do you guys play online matches too ? I understand that LAN is better but not everyone can make it to the desired cyber cafe all the time. So why not we gather online at times to have some online friendly match (if you guys do play online too) ?

Well, a simple survey actually. How many of you bloggers actually host your blog at a web hosting company ? If you do, are you on a shared web hosting or a dedicated server ? Share your experience with it because as far as I know, shared web hosting do have certain amount of CPU usage limit by the web hosting companies.

CS 1.6 Server

Guys can anyone of you help me test my server. I'm thinking of opening my own server for Malaysians. It is using just a home ADSL 1mbps/384k line so don't expect much from it.

Try connecting to malaysiacs.servecounterstrike.com and the port is 27015 .

STATUS : ONLINE

Tell me if you guys can connect or not.

EDIT : Just to let you guys know that this server requires you to be logged on to Steam in order to connect. I don't want to promote piracy.

Tips : To have better ping, try getting 218.x.x.x IP as I'm using it too.

Info : This server will be using de_dust2, de_inferno and de_cbble. As this server is hosted using a home connection, own PC and shared connection, I'm sorry if there is some high latency among some users. I have set the max number of players to 12 to help reduce the lag in the server too. Sorry for any inconvinience caused.

Update :
1. Added a /rank and /top15 command for players.
2. Added a stats feature.
3. Players with high pings will be kicked to give a better playing environment to others

Server Banlist :
None at the moment.

Cyber cafe

Guys.. I passed by SS2 today and saw a cyber called Clutch and I just walk pass thinking it's just an ordinary cyber cafe.. But the interior looks cool.. But after i went to this site, http://clutch.des-gaming.com/ , i'm wondering is that cyber cafe opened by the DES clan ? hMm..
