zzzzz sound from speakers

Occasionally, the zzzzz sounds will start to appear. Come thru the speakers. If i off the speakers, can trace the sounds to the power supply.
After a few minutes, the sound will be gone. Later on, will come back again.

Is this due to the electrical lines in my house? Or the power supply is faulty? Would an AVR help? (Does AVR have power conditioning?)

PSU blow?

During the day, the electrician came to fix the gate. in the process, he had to shut down the power for the whole house.
Dunnoe what he did to the electric panel, but my problem starts after he turned back the power for the house.

Now everytime i switch on the wall socket, there will be sparks from my PSU, and a sound of course, and then the power will trip.
Tried it 2 times, same thing happens.

I'm thinking the psu is a goner now, with all the sparks and smell of something burnt coming from it.
But i'm wondering what went wrong? All other electrical stuff connected to that socket is still working. Why only the psu affected?
Could it be the electrician did something to my wiring?

Windows just wont boot

Home pc, with basic hardware
Mobo: Foxconn P4M800P7MA
Intel P4 3.06Ghz
512 mb KVR ddr2
1 cdrw, 1 160gb harddisk
1 D-Link network card (DFE-530TX)

The story:
One day I was surfing the net as usual. Suddenly pc autorebooted. When windows loaded up, a message popped up, saying new hardware detected. I checked and found out that it wont recognize the network card now. Even when I point it to the drivers, it just wont install.
So I shutdown the pc, waited 5mins, then booted it up again. Now it wont load into windows. It will boot till the screen where you choose safe mode, last known, or boot windows normally. Regardless of any option that I select, it will hang after I press enter.
For safe mode, it will stop at the step as shown in the pic below.

So whats causing the problem? Winxp gone wrong? Reinstallation of winxp the only solution?

Problem number 2
Bought a new harddisk and tried reinstalling winxp on the same pc. Winxp cd will boot, and the windows installation 'blue' screen will show up. After it has loaded all the drivers and stuff, the next step will be a reboot. But for my case, it will just hang there. Tried out using other harddisks on the same pc, the problem still persists.

So whats causing the problem of winxp not being able to install? Cannot be harddisk cause i bought a new one. Cannot be ram cause I swapped the kvr for a Tracer. So is it the motherboard? Could it have somehow got damaged when the pc suddenly rebooted in story 1?

So far most of the threads I've gone through are about HT, which can be/are/has to be pretty expensive to build.
How about using the PC to enjoy music and movies?

So instead of a projector, which lcd/lcd tv would you recommend? Which 5.1 or 7.1 speaker set would you recommend? Which sound card would you recommend? So on and so forth. Get my drift so far? Haha.

Display problem

2 days ago, I shut down my PC, then unplugged everything from the wall. Went on a trip to Malacca, came back, plugged everything back to wall socket, then proceeded to boot up the pc. Heres where the problem is. No display on the monitor. PC can boot into windows (press windows key + U + U, pc will shutdown). Monitor is working (tested on another pc). I took another monitor and connected, still same problem. Blank screen. Even the POST screen also not showing.

So the problem is with the gfx card? Using Colorful 8600GT Ultra. Cant test on another pc, cause all using agp mobos.
Any way to solve the problem, other than having to RMA the card?

Ok since I cant fix my winxp not booting up problem, I've reinstalled winxp.
The harddisk now has 2 winxp (1 new, 1 old, not working).
The old winxp has all the patches from the MS update site. Is it possible for me to copy those .msi files over to the new winxp folder, and let it update? Cause I dont want to redownload all over again. Plus this will lag the housemates.

The patches are in C:\WINDOWS\Installer right?
Winxp wont boot, pc keeps restarting

My pc was working fine. Then I went to update winxp. Had 2 updates. 1 was a security fix, the other was to scan for worms or something. After the update, it prompted for a reboot. So I did. Then the problem starts.
Just before the part where the winxp logo shows that winxp is loading, the pc will restart. This happens no matter what option I choose (safe mode, last known, normally).

What caused this to happen, and how can I solve it?

Yesterday, Tenaga guy came to cut power cause 2 mths never pay bill. So went to pay and power restored at 6pm. Now my PC has a wierd problem. Whenever the power cuts, or someone off the mains suddenly, the next time I turn the PC on, it wont boot.

I've tried taking the battery out, clearing CMOS, taking everything apart and put them back 1 by 1, and it still wont start. Without the RAMs, there will be beeping sound. With rams, gc and harddisk, also wont boot.

So what is the problem? I've been having this problem for a long time. Last time simply take out part by part and put them back, somehow it works. Now this method cannot work. zzzzz Farking hate this pc.

For a newcomer to the game

For a newcomer to the game, which realm should I create my character on?
Looking forward to joining a guild and enjoying end-game content. However, I dont think I will get to lvl 60 that fast, as this sem my workload is higher.

Moreover, if I do get to 60, would those in current guilds still want to run the lower instances with me?
