WD Hard Disk, Caviar or RE3/RE4

I can get the WD Caviar 1TB for around RM300, and there's a user here selling WD 1TB RE3 Enterprise hard disk for about RM5++

So anyway, what are the advantages of Enterprise hard disk anyway? Do they have longer lifespan or lesser failure probability?

Lets say I will use this 1TB hard disk strictly as a storage disk. No install OS or any application. Its for video and audio storage, and also backup DVD/CD images, so reliability is quite important I guess

Is it worth the extra money?

What I'm looking for is something like local online retail store where we can shop for PC hardware online and they will mail those hardware to us.

Not those bulk order people of course, I know where to find them here at this forum if I want

Reason is that I can't find many good hardware stuff at where I live here, but its not practical for me to travel all the way to KL or lowyat plaza just to get a CPU cooler or a casing, the toll and petrol cost would be like 50% of the hardware cost already

So if you guys here know of any local online PC hardware retail store, please share with me here,

Any good online survey website that is free?

I need to conduct an online survey for my assingment. Is there any free ones where I can view each individual result from each participant?

Many free ones only show the cumulative result for each question, and I need to pay to view the individual result from each participant

Turns out that ClockGen tweak with some BIOS setting, its doesn't overclock the way a graphic card overclocking does.

Only a reset of BIOS could fix any overclocking ClockGen did.

Racovering passowrd from SAM file

Hi all,

I'm given a Windows 2000 SP3 virtual server to be emulated using VMWare. We're suppose to find any vulnerability or exploits in it. The account is password protected, and one of the things we can do is to gain access.

So I'm wondering if I can recover the password from the SAM file? How do I get the SAM file from this virtual server and recover the password?

We're given a brute force attack tool, but not knowing the length of the password, I don't think a brute force search is possible.

ps: It's an assignment task, I'm not attempting to hack anyone Windows 2000 lol.

System won't boot when graphic driver installed

System Spec:
P4 2.8C
GeForce 6800 (NU) ...more than 1 year old
Asus P4P8X (i865p chipset)
Windows XP SP2
PSU 450W Acbel

Here's the problem. It started with my Windows cursor corrupted, then the system display went off and stop responding. So I restart and Windows fail to boot halfway through. I suspect its graphic related, so I restart in safe mode (can boot up) and uninstall the nVidia driver. Without the driver, the system can boot up normally, and there wasn't any graphic corruption anymore.

So I downloaded the same nVidia driver, reinstall and reboot, and the system again fail to boot up after the Windowns Boot Up Screen. Had to reboot in safe mode, remove driver and install another one. I tried ver 85, 91, all with WHQL verified, and none of them work. Windows just seems to be unable to run correctly when the card is running with its driver, regardless of its version.

So, anyone can help me out here? Any suggestion and advise is appreciated

PS: I'm now running with my older R9600Pro card, I use the latest Catalyst for this graphic card, everything runs fine, no abnormality or crashes.

problem is when using IE to view my blog, that thing can run fine. But when i use Firefox (latest version), it cannot run.

So, anyone knows what's the problem here? is it because of Firefox protection feature, setting or the code, or anything else?

Problems Solved !
Its the Alcohol 120 virtual drive messing with Nero.
what a waste of disc...

Drive: LG GSA 4167B
Media: Imation i-Crystal DVD +R 16x
Software: Nero 7
OS: WinXP

I've tried twice and both time it fails at the end of the burning process, says something like PMA update failure, could not perform end of disk at once. No overburning BTW.

So, can anyone help/guide me how to troubleshoot this problem. Is it necessary that I get another set of DVD +R disc? This set of DVD +R is a new set. Previously I'm using LG DVD -R media, all disc works fine. I wonder if its some setting problem, since this is the first time I use +R

Problems opening File Folders

To keep things short, I'm using windows XP.............each time i open a folder (double click on it) it automatically runs a search instead...

at the Tool -> Folder Option -> File Type -> File Folder -> Advance
under action, there is no open and explore

How do I build this option again?

ps: for the next file type, Folder, there is both "explore" and "open" option, with the default action set to open... I think that's where the problem is. File Folder has no both explore and open action.

Somehow I can seems to edit, or delete these action. and there are no reset to default option or so for this section, so i'm kind of stuck here..

Well, I have an assingment that need me to create an advertisement in a form of a digital video format.

So basically I guess I need a software for

1.Video Editing. I need to combine several video, adding audio into it as well. and maybe removing audio from the originally captured video. And also, adding some pictures and stuff like tht. (this is the hardest )

2.audio capturing software. Need to record some vocal through microphone.

3. Software to record a video of what's being display on my monitor. (Need to record gameplay footage actually, heh)

I need u guys help in recommending software for those task. Preferebly newbie user friendly, especially the video editing part. we have only like 12 weeks to start from scratch and none of us has any experience in digital media editing

Streamyx connection not working...

Hi all, i'm facing a problem with my connection, hope u guys can help or advise..

First of all, my streamyx can connect, i even have a IP address, everything is fine.

But I cannot use the connection at all. Cannot open website, cannot log in YM, MSN, nothing

Somehow I CAN ping a site successfully though
Here, a screenshot of ping result. Nothing wrong, even the response time is ok

How it happened:-
This evening as i was using, suddenly i notice i can open any page, all browser fail to load, BT came to a halt, although the upload is still full, i turn off all dl program, still cant load any page...restarted everything from computer to modem, still the problem stays till now....only can ping, but cant do anything else

So, anyone knows whats the most likely problem? my modem, or the ISP problem?
