Nokia N79 - N85 - 5800 XpressMedia (Tube) photos

Images of what appear to be Nokia's new Nseries phones have leaked out on the Internet a couple of days ago, including the N79 and N85, as well as the 5800 Xpress Media. The phones are likely prototype models and are not guaranteed to make it to production, although the 5800 is likely to launch this summer as an iPhone alternative.

The photos reveal the multimedia key on the new N79 has been moved to the left side of the candy-bar style phone, uses a 2.4-inch screen and will come in at least white and titanium color. What is believed to be the rumored N85 uses a slider design, similar to N95 and N96 phones. The camera is protected by a sliding lens protector, which hides a Carl Zeiss lens for the 3.2MP auto-focus camera. The photos reveal the phone will come in at least white and brown. If the phones make it to market, the N79 would sit just above the upcoming N78 in Nokia's line-up, while the N85 would slot in between the N81 but below the N95 and upcoming N96.

The Nokia 5800 Tube is expected to be the first Nokia phone to use the company's S60 Touch user interface. Like the N85, the Tube sports a 3.2MP camera with LED flash and Carl Zeiss optics. The phone is expected to feature 3G Internet access and Wi-Fi capability, giving it features that are largely on par with the iPhone 3G. Users get a stylus for the touchscreen display which, at 3.2 inches, is smaller than the iPhone's but will offer a sharper 640x360 resolution.

N79

Nokia N85

Nokia 5800 XpressMedia / TUBE

Nokia 5800 appears in posters

Nokia's upcoming 5800 phone has appeared as part of a new promotional poster, Unwired View writes. German vendor SMS Shop is advertising the 5800 along several other Nokia phones, including the 5220, 6210, 6600 and E71. No prices or release dates are presented, but the phone is identified as having WLAN (Wi-Fi) and HSDPA support. A sample interface screen is shown as well.

The 5800 should be the first phone with Nokia's S60 Touch interface, intended to stave off competition from the iPhone 3G. It is said to have a 3.2-megapixel camera with LED flash, and a 3.2-inch screen, with a sharp 640x360 resolution. While the phone has generally been known under the XpressMedia moniker however, the SMS poster classifies it under the XpressMusic label.
