someone called my mom and said i'm kidnapped. My mom called me, and i ask her to instruct the "kidnapper" to call my cell.

The "kidnapper" called my cell, thinking i'm the husband. Then there's someone asking for help over the phone "tell them stop beating me, tell them stop beating me, they wouldn't stop beating me"...

then the kidnapper goes on to ask me for ransom or he'll kill my "son" aka me. being nasty, i ask him to go on, and don't bother hesitate. He got angry and say wanna kill my whole family, rape all the woman of my family

figured that he might probably gotten my house phone from yellow pages, he probably got my home address as well. i is scared now, should i go to the polizei?

Nano-Technology / Quantum science

Before we start, the purpose of me starting this thread is to get some idea on my upcoming final year project that i might carry on as research for my master. Since this subject is highly technical, i think it suits this subforum more than Education subforum. If mod thinks otherwise, please move it.

My field of study is electronics engineering, major in nano-technology. Keyword : "electronics" and "nanotechnology". I am about to propose a title for my FYP in next few weeks and as a student in local university, i faces problem that bugs almost everyone else that study in local U :

1) limited fund
2) limited equipment
3) limited time
4) limited resources

The thing i have in mind now includes :
1) Single electron transistor
2) QD LED/Laser that can be made into flexible display
3) ZnO thin-film fabrication

As i mention with the limitation, i need something that is possible to be achieve, possible to have initial results within 6 months of work and does not require a top end lab from DARPA to work things out. For example, I've proposed a FED display project before but rejected for the reason that it is impossible to fabricate a whole bunch of perfectly lined up CNT in our lab.

Now, keep your suggestions/discussion flowing. Might it be ideas on simple computer simulation of quantum science stuff, or physical fabrication project.

clutch and engine problem

i drive a two year old manual kancil 850.

about a month ago i have these serious problem about my clutch and engine :

Clutch :
when driving slowly for less than 20kmh, for example inside a car park or when i'm stuck in a traffic jam where i frequently shift between 1st and 2nd gear with a lots of stop and go, my gear will stuck. I cant seemed to be able to disengage the gear even when the clutch is fully pressed. worse case is during traffic jam, when i'm fully stopped and fully pressed the clutch, the car will move if i don't step on my brake (kind of like AT car where if you don't press the brake the car will move forward slowly) That means the gear is not fully disengaged at all !

engine :
the engine idle speed of my kancil was originally about 1.5k. but recently it miraculously dropped to about 700 to 800rpm and would die easily. Early in the morning once i start engine and if i step on the pedal, the RPM would drop instead of rise and then the engine died. i need to step it real slow for a few seconds then it will be normal.

thing about these problem is....they do not happens every time...they happens occasionally. when i first developed this problem, i sent my car to bridgestone auto care. they say my car is PERFECTLY fine and i end up paying only inspection charge.

worst situation happened last night when i was in jalan alor traffic jamming when going up hill. when i'm stuck in the middle of the hill, if i use brake, and then move to accelerator and release clutch to go up hill, the engine would die immediately as the RPM is too low when idle and my car slides backward. Fine, i don't use brake but play with the clutch to stay still at the hill, in less than 30 seconds, a terrible smell filled up my car. it smells like my clutch is burning !

so i send to perodua this afternoon, tell them my situation and after hours of inspection, they have a result : everything is PERFECTLY FINE, the only solution they give is to wait until the whole clutch system is gone then change a new one.

i'm now so headache as this car is tough like hell to drive in a traffic jam, yet even the official workshop cant tell what's wrong. i serious need some help and advise here.

First of all,the reason i open the thread in this section but not in services offer is because i am not making any profit out of this and i hope it could become a discussion thread where people with similar hobby can gather and experts would comment and guides through it. And also it seems audiophile has the most need for such services. Even so, my services is not limited to audio products only. If you have any electronics DIY project in mind, but don't have the necessary resources, i am here to offer you my help. Since there's already many experts doing professional cabling services with very reasonable prices, i will not be doing cables.

I am here to offer soldering or any component design services for people who have zero idea of soldering. Since i am providing the service purely based on interests and gaining experience, i will not be making any profit from this services. You only pay for the components used and my travelling expenses overhead if i have to outsource the component for you.

Please take note though :
1) i am not an expert in soldering
2) i have zero idea where is the cheapest place to outsource components (all i know is jalan pasar ,puchong and farnell network)
3) i only have very basic equipments

my 2006 Kancil has been running for almost 55k mileage. Last night my dad called, and said that he saw my tires already worn out when i back to hometown last week and asked me to change it. Since i has zero knowledge about tyre, here's a few question :

1) How many brands of tyre out there are available for the tiny 12inch kancil tyres?

2) which brand of 12inch kancil tyre do you people prefer and what's the ups and downs about each? (price/comfort/noise/grip etc)

Questions regarding summons

two days ago, my sister was working midnight shift, so her boyfriend, who is a taiwanese went to fetch her in the midnight when she finished working. since the company is just a kilometre away from their home, and her bf claimed that the international driving license is so freaking big, he somehow left it at home. coincident enough, he met a roadblock and get a summon. The police told him that the summon is RM150.

Just now i tried to go to the nearest police station to settle, the young talented and retarded police officer claim that offense by foreigner is double, which is RM600 and according to him, no rayuan is allowed. But somehow, he keep on remind me that as a police officer, he is able to help me pay the summon with half price, which is RM300. But since he said the summon is not yet updated in the record, i'm not able to pay for the time being.

i smell something fishy and called the Selangor traffic police hotline. The operator on the other side tell me that the fine for failing to present a driving license is RM50 if we pay immediately after the fine, and there's no price difference for local and foreigner, and if i make rayuan, most probably i'll end up with only a RM30 fine. And if we fail to pay before the deadline, the worst case is he have to go to court and get a maximum fine of RM300. There's no such thing as RM600 fine for foreigner.

my question is :

1) who's telling me the truth now? the RM150 from the officer who summon, RM600 as told by the police station, or RM50 as told by the phone operator. Is there any standard guidelines for us to look at?
2) which is the cheapest way without having to bribe those idiotic police officer

Hi, my car was maintained by my friend and lately he has been too busy so i have to handle myself. my last servicing i simply find a shop in seri kembangan to service my car and my wallet get chopped into pieces and some minor issue appears with my car after that (engine iginition take longer than usual) . My car is a manual Kancil 850, running for 40k mileage and ageing 1 and a half year. here's few of my question :

1) Any workshop/mechanic that you people recommend around Seri Kembangan/Puchong/PJ that is reliable yet reasonable priced?
2) What brand of engine oil recommended for kancil? I know this is a subjective question, but i would like to know your choice of Engine oil and the reason behind that. oh, and pricing too
3) Does original perodua oil filter has any difference with RM5 oil filter?
4) What is the recommended brand for spark plug/gear oil/brake oil that has good performance/price ratio?
5) What else should be check for 40k mileage service other than Engine oil, oil filter, spark plug, gear oil, brake pil?

when visiting the sub-forums over the garage sales, i sometimes use the tag to sort out the things that i want to find by clicking on the tag (for example : clicking on jumble sales, consoles, software etc). when i finish reading the first page and proceed to second page, the sorted list is gone and i am back to the original mixed up list. which in other words, i couldn't reach the second page of the sorted out list. is that a bug or did i did it the wrong way?

My current phone loudspeaker is too soft for video calls, so i decided to go for a bluetooth handsfree.

i have a budget around RM150 to RM200, what is the best i can get out there?

there's currently a few on my wishlist :
1) SE GV-435 - roughly RM300 , i like the design where ppl cant see a stick popping out and think that you're acting cool, but its a lil outta budget (my hair is long enough to cover the rest)

2) SE HBH-608 - seen a lots of positive comment on this, but it's a too long stick design though

3) Motorola H3 - looks cool but haven't seen any comment on it yet

and btw, can i add a bluetooth adaptor to my PC and make those bluetooth handsfree work as a skype/msn/ym handsfree for voice chatting?
