Reason for sale: Downgrading

Description of Item: Currently using Apple iPod nano 3rd gen 8GB as media storage. Player has 4096 colours OLED screen capable of displaying album art (with iPod connected only). BTW, it has a built-in 512MB storage memory to store MP3 files or rip CD as WMA. This model is top of the line and has many EQ and XOVER functions. I'm downgrading because since Day 1, I haven't got the time to mess with the default settings and would prefer a simple headunit instead. It supports Chinese characters from iPod or USB drive. Firmware is the latest, upgradable by downloading it from Kenwood site and copying the file to a USB drive.

Ok, I've the following:

Kenwood KDC-X9006U
2 x tweeters
2 x 5.25" front speakers
2 x 5.25" rear speakers
1 x subwoofer

All connected directly via the factory harness.

Now, problem is lack of punch on both bass and high notes. The Kenwood unit has many complicated settings and I left them as default.

What will be the best option? Stick to stock speakers and mess with settings or replace front with components and rear with better 5.25" speakers? I cannot place an amp due to lack of space. All output must be wired directly to the HU itself. In replacement is necessary, what is best sounding component speakers out there with a budget of RM 500? I'm willing to spend around RM 1.5k for speakers alone.

Front Channel controls both tweeters and front speakers while Read Channel controls both subwoofer and rear speakers.

BTW, is the Sony Xplod XS-GTX1620S any good?

Item tested working for all function on a smart fortwo (2005) and smart forfour (2006) as well as Mitsubishi Triton (2007) and also works on a Honda City (2004) or any OBD2-compliant vehicle (year 1996 and above).

The unit can show your vehicle's fuel consumption in real time and also diagnostic trouble codes (DTC). It can also double up as a shift light using the built-in LEDs. As above, how much can let this unit go for? Mine is facing the hill and it is the first unit after the lifts on Level 23.

I have the following installed:

1. Grilles - kitchen & main entrance
2. Lighting - basic ones using default wiring points
3. Flooring - real Merbau timber flooring covering 700 SF of the entire unit including kitchen
4. Skirting - already hacked the standard tile skirting and replacing with 4" x 20mm solid nyatoh timber skirting for all flooring area
5. Pad Locks - installed for all grilles and water meter

If the offer is good, I plan to install additional grilles for all windows and A/C unit for hall.

Don't buy A-Data SDHC cards!

Mitsubishi Triton

I just bought an used Triton and every now and then, the Check Engine warning light will come on. Did a fault check with OBD2 computer and found no DTCs (trouble codes). Weird...

Anyone else with similar problem?

Door speakers

Alright, I've replaced my stock HU with Kenwood KDC-X9006U (not exactly a good player as it 'hangs' often!) and looking to replace those dreadful OEM 5.25" door speakers. I will need to find 5.25" for both front and rear doors to maintain the interior look. Prefer without external amp due to lack of space. Any recommendation? Budget around RM 500 for speakers only or can stretch to RM 1k if components are required.

IPOH: The Government has yet to decide if the rebate of RM625 a year to owners of vehicles with engine capacities of up to 2,500cc will be taxed.

Internal Revenue Board (IRB) chief executive officer Datuk Hasmah Abdullah said the board would discuss with the Treasury on the taxability of the RM625.

Acknowledging that the RM625 may push certain "borderline" taxpayers into a higher taxable income bracket, Hasmah said:

"To avoid confusion, we will come out with a ruling before next year's returns filing deadline."

She was responding to queries on whether eligible owners receiving the RM625 rebate would be taxed following the recent announcement by the Government to make the subsidy payout in view of rising fuel prices.

In June, the Government had announced the rebate payout to private vehicle owners is RM625 a year for vehicles with engine capacity of up to 2,000cc or pick-up trucks and jeeps of up to 2,500cc.

Motorcycle owners with engine capacities of up to 250cc are paid RM150 a year when they renew their road tax.

Hasmah pointed out that the IRB would have to study Section 4 of the Income Tax Act, 1967, to determine if eligible car owners receiving the RM625 would be taxable.

Incomes derived out of services rendered and goods sold were taxable, she said Wednesday after giving away prizes to winners of the state-level IRB's public speaking competition for Form Six students here.

Technically, she said, the rebate did not fall into this definition of income and it was applied across the board.

At face value, she added that it did not seem to relate to goods sold or services rendered.

However, she said, the IRB would still need to consult its lawyers and the Treasury on the matter.

As for the lower income group, Hasmah said they would definitely not be affected, adding that the objective of the rebate was to relieve the burden on lower income group because of a hike in fuel prices.

This is a weird problem...

Unit is 1.1.2 OTB used with BuddySIM for more than 5 months without problems until yesterday, the phone signal dropped to zero. Took out SIM and replaced with new BuddySIM with no results.

Only option... restore to .1.1.4 via iTunes and Jailbreak, Activate, Unlock with ZiPhone. No luck either... WiFi ok but GSM/EDGE remains as 0. Tried Maxis and Celcom SIM cards also no luck.

What could b the problem? Any ideas where or how to fix?

Just came back from a Smart TT @ Old Klang Road heading back to NKVE.

Nissan Fairlady 350Z vs Nissan Vanette C22 on the flyover opposite Esso heading to D'sara toll. The van shrunk to Kancil size. I reckon total-loss for C22. The Fairlady is still repairable but sustained heavy damage at both front and rear ends.

Lots of road debris - metal, plastic and glass everywhere.

Note: Pls slowdown if coming from Jln D'sara heading to NKVE via flyover.

Since petrol price will go up next year... I've been thinking of buying a small car to run around town.

My criteria are simple: cool-looking, at least 6-speed auto or manual or both, all disc brakes (preferably), good FC and cheap road tax.

So far, only the above models match very closely. Any comments from owners?

The fortwo has everything I need even though it only has room for 2 people (I already have a 4-door saloon) and this will be my 2nd car for daily town/city driving.

The forfour feels like a Colt (in fact, it is a Colt) and many people suggest to take a Colt instead since it is cheaper.

The roadster would be a great choice since it is a sports car it is even cooler than a fortwo.

Just seeking advice and comments before deciding.
