Looking for Rootkit Detector for WinXP

So I have a particularly stubborn rootkit that somehow wormed its way into an office computer.

I cannot reformat because its a machine used for Payroll and all that.

So, rather than try and match wits with the system while it is live, I have booted Ubuntu Linux 9.10 and install clamav, f-prot and avg linux.

Just wanted to ask if anyone knew any other more powerful scans specifically targeted at rootkits and the such. Running on Linux.

Friend Codes Central 2009

Nintendo Friend Codes Exchange Point

TERMS OF USE

This exchange site functions to as a site of exchange for friend codes. On the Nintendo Wifi channel, an addition of friend codes can only occur if 2 parties agree to add each other's codes. This pairing usually requires that both parties are fairly in sync.

The first step to a successful add is to construct a post something like the one below. The formatting is only a SUGGESTIONS, but keeping most of the info below would increase the chances of a successful friend code experience. If you are uncomfortable revealing contact information, or are free to keep that information to yourself.

QUOTE

DS Friend Code

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Game Name
1234-2332-2231

Wii
Console Name:
Wii Code:
Online Status: (24/7, WEEKENDS,PM ME)

Additional Contact Info
pm/email/etc

Online Time
9pm-10pm

While formatting is optional, each user i only allowed ONE POST. Please do not create multiple posts.
Once you have completed creating your post. The objective is to wait for Private Messages from people interest in sharing friend codes with you. Be patient. It can take weeks for people to take notice. Be sure to check back regularly and PM other people that have FCs to games you are playing as well.

CLEARANCE

In order to keep up to date: This thread will be cleared every 2 months or so.
Help with VPN

I need help from someone who is familiar with windows VPN.

For a while now, I have been using VPN to connect some remote computers to my home computer. Recently my newest server computer which is Windows XP SP3 is refusing connections from my oldest computer, which was Windows XP SP1 now SP2.

Security logs on the server computer state that a L2TP cert is missing and that a certificate needs to be installed.

Also, the VPN connections from other computers to the SP3 server work, and the old client machine can connect to VPN on other machines running XP SP2.

Questions:
Does windows VPN using their "Incoming Connections" and "Connect to Remote Computer" (created using the networking wizard) connect using L2TP by default?

If so, which machine is missing the L2TP cert and how do I install the correct certificate?

Credit Card to Buy xbox points?

I just got onto the Xbox wagon pretty late, and only just recently found that you can use a credit card to buy microsoft points.

So far, Microsoft has failed to authorize my credit card, even tho my bank called to inform me that none of Microsoft's transaction attempts were blocked.

I just want to know if anyone has had "success stories" to share and what voodoo they did that led to that result (ex: Call tech support, put in real address, used VISA card, sacrificed baby goat, etc).

Shops in the Console Couch

While originally I did not mind much the posting of Shop Threads in the Console Couch and its sub-forums, it has come to pass that there are more Shop Topics than actual discussions.

Originally, I felt that having the threads there would serve as a good price reference for new buyers.

Some of the moderators have been discussing this and we hope to move all the shops to Garage Sales while still maintaining easy reference and easy access for those who need it.

Several ideas have been put out, but right now we are putting it you the shopkeeps and the regulars here to put forward suggestions as how we may go about this.

What Came First, the Violence or the Video Game?

This is by far the most incisive article I have seen about violence and video games. Not necessarily the most complete and airtight argument, but hits a key point right between the eyes. This is an excerp:

QUOTE

How about this for a crazy theory: when young people commit crimes, there is a good chance they will do so in a familiar environment, like a school. And, being young, they just might be players of video games. And being obviously violent people, they might be attracted to violent games. Cause and effect? What video game does Saddam Hussein enjoy?

http://www.planetxbox360.com/index.php/art...ails/show/452/1
