[WTA] Buying a laptop

Greetings guys.

Like this, my mum ask me to buy a lappie for her school, and the budget is around 2500 - 2000.

Now the problem is I`m not familiar with lappie, my last lappie is a twinhead more then 6 years ago, and the motherboard got fried...

The lappie will be used by teacher for :

1) Data import/export (not sure but I think it will be downloading/uploading those from internet)
2) Microsoft Office work
3) or better say its for office work la..

I`m thinking about Asus... got brainwashed after the WGT 2008

I`m planning to get second hand 4WD, maybe Ranger, or Storm, or anything else.

I`m searching around and most of it is auto, is it ok to drive auto 4WD if I`m going to climb hill?

Of course, my main target is manual but its very hard to find

And I`m looking for petrol too, my experience with my last 4WD, a Pejero Diesel its soooo underpowered

And any of you guys keen off roader would like to share with me how to choose a good one?

I want a petrol + manual..but cant find many petrol + manual on the 2nd hand list..got some petrol + auto and lot of auto 4WD...

So..can auto tame the hill, or manual will do a way better job?

And petrol is better then diesel, right?

My car already reach 10 years old now. Still going amazingly strong except :

I notice that when I press my horn, my digital aircon display less bright (whats the word..dimmer?)

What might be the problem eh? Will grounding cable solve this problem? Thanks

car is Wira sedan with MIVEC and new battery, not more then 1 month old while the old battery last me 3 years.

Need Help on MIVEC ECU

Greetings everyone.

Erm...like this...my Wira sedan with MIVEC engine having some problem with air cond idle control and cold engine starting (cant auto idle) so I bring it to check with computer (the one like MUT)

But it cant detect my ECU...so the shop owner say my ECU is spoil already..

so..is it true? if it is can we repair the ecu? any specialist shop or any expert electrical shop will do?

actually i`m not sure what Type this turbo timer is.. but I think its type 1

more info : i`m not sure about the speed meter and 0 - 100 time coz I cant find my MIVEC speed wire, and when I ask all the taiko at mivec.nz they say 1st gen MIVEC dont have any digital speed information so I give up

Some question about my Wira sedan

Hallo guys

Erm..I have a problem with my power windows..it cant wind up or down..then I try to DIY use relay.. and discover the socket problem..so I tap it direct to the switch..

and now, another problem, I think the window stuck at my top window rubber lining..coz when fully up hard to go down.. need to direct power from battery..

why ar you guys think? izzit I still need to use the relay or my rubber lining out already?

and 2nd question

i`m thinking bout adding relay to my headlamp... cant see anything at night

can anyone teach me where to add the relay? thanks

Got a new motherboard

Hello guys

Just got a new Abit Fatal1ty F190HD to replace my burned motherboard.

The problem is I cant use my old 512mb DDRII 667 Kingston ram.. my 1GB DDRII 667 Kingston working fine.

If I use the 512, my computer wont start. Why eh? Before this my 512 working fine. I take it out and use another 1gb stick which got burned together with my board.

Please help! I want to buy new ram but wanna make sure first!

Intel Pentium D 2.8
1.5GB ram (normal ram)
motherboard MSI MS-7255 V2.0
160GB Pata Maxtor HDD
Geforce 8600GT 256DDR3
normal CRT SyncMaster 17" flat monitor. might change to LCD next month, if my bro change his LCD

i`m using this rig to play all kind of game including the latest game avaiable. but i do not mind playing with medium setting no need to be on highest setting all the time. also use this to play on9 game, web surfing, tube, and some office work.

i think i`ll stick to this 8600GT coz just bought it.

er..i want recommendation on what to upgrade next?

low budget user

about the ram..if i`m using this cheap motherboard..will higher performance ram be any good? i`m thinking bout that SLI ready ram (the one with SLI logo) coz it look good but i read somewhere that the SLI ram only work to the true potential with nforce motherboard right?

or if i need to change my motherboard then what kind of budget but good motherboard should i get?

When i`m cleaning my room today..I found something...

Version 2002 Windows XP Home Edition!!!!

And I think its original coz its still sealed.There it wrote For Distribution with new TWINHEAD. so i guess i got this when i buy my lappie in 2003. Old one. dead already...

So this Windows still can be used? Coz its original.. and anyway for me to use this without formatting my computer? thanks guys

Dilemma in my career

Hallo guys...

I`ve been undergoing my SKM Level 1,2,3 and my SuperVisory SKill in Light Motor Mechanic since early last year. Right now I`m supposed to be in On Job Training but,

Due to my earlier mishap when racing (Kawasaki Cup 2006) I suffer a dislocated shoulder on my right shoulder. Ok, that one is settled. But earlier this year another mishap also give me another dislocated shoulder, on my left! This time its worst. Because the doctor say my tendon (or something..i dunno..) tear. I thought it will be fine after a few month but the pain come back when I worked. And now my doctor tell me to rest for another month..

The problem is my dad and mom dont want to allow me to pursue my studies in Level 4 and 5 and instead want me to choose another course/program.

They ask me to show something/anything that prove after I finish my Level 4 and 5 studies I wont be working in any workshop instead I`ll be in office building.

My question is.. is it true? I mean what I thought about Level 4 and 5 studies for Light Motor Mechanic? As what I know from the only college that provide Level 5 training in Malaysia (Times College Kajang) they say Level 5 student wont be in any kind of workshop instead they will be a management team.

Sorry for my english. Hope someone/anyone can help me. I dont want to quit now, I`ll waste TWO precious years of my teen age...
