[HELP] Cant get OBD error code

Its me again, with my problematic Civic ;__;
Last Friday in a hot sunny afternoon, I could not start my car at all.
I usually have a coldstart issue in the morning or during/after rain, but on a hot day this is a first.

For my coldstart issue, usually i just leave my key to position II, after a few minutes(sometimes up to 10), the check engine light(CEL) will go off after a 'zrrrr' sound of my fuel pump.
But it was not the case for my hot sunny start issue. The CEL wont go off even after 15mins.

So yesterday till today, spent my time debugging the issue. Along the way, I found out I could not get my OBD error readings from this guide.

I have shorted the connector that was in the green sleeve, but my CEL did not blink at all (it stays on forever). The whole internet mentioned car predates 1996 most likely uses OBD1 (ODB2 need to use scantools).

Since im going nowhere w/o the error code, I decided to pry my ECU

As you can see on the top side of the ECU, all the capacitor has bad oxidized legs. But the one here in the middle of the pic is the worst.

I have cleaned it using 'cucuk satay', but it seems the green layer pcb starts to peel off and exposing the copper surface beneath. Kind of dangerous as i might short something

Anyhow, now my car can start in an instant(the CEL goes off immediately) on a hot afternoon, even when I havent reset the ECU.

So my questions are:
1. Why Im not getting the OBD reading/ no CEL blinks, even after now my engine can start?
2. Anyone know any info of the part above of the circuit/what it does?
3. What sensor readings that can trigger/cause this issue?
4. what Other alternative i can go on my ecu? (reCap/resolder)?

*Back when I was debugging my coldstart issue, sending to Honda Center they only come up with "ECU problem, change ECU can solve" w/o more detail. So I want to learn/seek more info before taking a plunge into ECU swap.

Car: Civic SR4/EG
Engine: EFI ME516... (D16 equivalent)

Overheating when cruising/high speed

I have been lurking the internet for the past 2months to gather infos on troubleshooting my issue
Today I have given up hope and seek you guys for assist.

Car:
olde civic eg, 1st hand bought. on the road since 1996
sohc 1.6 me516engine(d16 equivalent)
my last mech short the rad fan wires to always on 2yrs ago(or maybe more)

Problem:
I noticed the problem march last year when i were driving high speed (180) melaka-kl and the temp needle were up to red.
Slowed down, the temp seems to cool down.

Now, high aspirited driving(heavy right foot), the needle will go up to 3/4.
Normal mode, it will be a little above middle mark.
I have yet did some long distance travelling.

While idling/stalling, my car does not overheat.
From active driving to stationary, the temp will go down (needle back to middle)

This thread discussed similar symptom, but it was solved by new motor for AC fan. wut?

To add, last month i drove the car 10km distance with with no coolant left as one of the stopper were leaking =__="

What I've observed
- no whitey caramel color in engine oil
- no sweet exhaust fumes.
- open cap, then only start engine, no gushing coolant. (test head gasket?)
- tested the coolant/pump flow by opening the rad cap after a cold start 8mins. At that time rad fan not yet kicking, but the coolant got some small fountain effect in the middle of the hole (no overflowing) 1/2cm gushing

What I've done/changed
- changed the water pump as it was said to be leaking (last year, when i changed my clutch plate at 80k interval)
- coolant rubber stopper (corroded and leaked last month)
- radiator flush(swapped with clean one)
- coolant flush
- new radiator cap
- thermostat
- 2ndary thermoswitch as it is said the original thermoswitch no longer feedback proper signal to spin up the rad fan(i disabled back the always on rad fan)
im using the UR external housing with UR thermoswitch. Does anyone know the thermoswitch spec? I have no thermometer to check at what temp the rad fan kicks in

What's left to suspect:
- waterpump fins gone
- blown head gasket
- faulty temp gauge/sensor
- running too lean at mid to high rpm
- too advanced timing(?)
- b16a

Hard braking, the rears tends to sway out

Sup guys

Last week i changed my super old GoodYear RevSpec on my rears to a new Parada Spec2.
RevSpec was a 195/55/15 while the new Parada are 195/50/15
The fronts are still on PP2 195/55/15 and around a yr old of usage.

Before putting on the Parada, i do not encounter th rear swaying out during high speed hard braking on straight.
But it became apparent when Parada is on the rears. The rear tend to go slightly sideways(sometimes left, or right)
What did i messed up?

Civic eg w/ me516 engine

weds sa90 rims

So whats up in USA?
Well, while i've been here for few months there was like a con every 2weeks. But since USA is kind of big, didnt manage to check em out (theyre at friggin other states)

So I decided to check out New York Anime Festival next week.
Why this particular one?
Because it has TANAKA RIE!!!!!111111

I may not cover full 3 day coverage, since I want to go sight seeing NY too (and rie is on sunday only)

Need opinions on Canon SX100-iS

As title suggest, need opinions on Canon SX100-iS.
How does it fares against old prosumer like S3-iS or any other entry level prosumer or PnS compacts.
It comes with IS, long zoom and super compact.

I did some google, and aside from its reviews, its only put against Pana TZ3 (which is without manual control).
But theres no user feedback on SX100-iS at all.
Is it shit?

*I'm a noob in photography, so I dont think a direct jump to entry DSLR is a good move
My main consideration is less shutter lag (my optio sv is shit)

Feel free to point me on good camera for learning (with manual controls)

*Car is SR4 civic,SOHC manual, and already clocked 153k km over 11yrs
help me fill up the to-do list

To do
- flush/change clutch n brake fluid <- lot of work? just top it up?
- flush/change radiator
- change belts
- check/replace valve seals (or whatever you call it)

- get top set(gasket)- items included: head gasket, valve seal, rocker cover gasket, oil seal
- TB cleaning- just TB gasket. normally the workshop will diy the gasket from gasket paper.
- change belt- timing belt, aircond belt, alternator belt, power steering belt, water pump, oil seal.
- engine mounting.
- fuel filter

i'm a user of apexi power flow. been using it for some yrs. how do i know if its time to replace with a new one?
i've constantly clean it up with vacuum cleaner. but as time goes by, the paper is getting darker/dirtier.

Yes, another awareness topic regarding habits that can lead to safety/hazard on the road.
Im pretty sure everyone do encounter once in a while with faggots who zigzag/turn into junction without warning.
Some of you might take it lightly, but its really dangerous.

I hope this thread can raise the awareness of using it, and make the road more safer (yeah, sh*t happens, but lets put some effort to avoid it)

Oh, I've been driving for 4yrs now, and yeah, I do make it a habit of using the signal lamps when turning/changing lanes, even when the road is friggin empty LOL

So here's the scenario
I got 3 physical drives, A, B and C configured into RAID 5 array. Then i have 3 partitions, D: , E: and F: . Now let say after saving a X file on F: , the file is having CRC error. So how do i know which physical drive is causing the problem (bad sector/dying etc)?

On the other hand, whose the one in-charge in generating the parity, packet size partition, etc (as you seen at Parity generator pic above), OS or hardware?

lets have a general discussion on brake pads.
as we know, good brake pads do help in braking power for its grip n still effective at high temp.

ok, im using bendix metal king on my civic, which ppl say the pad may eat the disc overtime (coz the trademark of no/less brake dust) . forgot how much i got it for a pair.

btw, is there any difference in the brake pad for normal engine car to vtec/turbo/etc of the same car model?

Im not sure its a major problem or not, but Hardware section is gettin messed up with QnA threads
