Hi Guys,

hopefully I'm asking in the right place, I've got 2 laptops which are for work and home use. Have been using the latest MSN version on my work laptop and home laptop with the older MSN version. Lately have got the home laptop upgraded to the latest MSN version but there's this one "problem" I can't seems to find out if it's normal or not.

messaging and basic functions work as normal but I noticed that my display picture and display messages do not sync between my work laptop and home laptop. i.e I've changed my display picture and display message on my work laptop, got home, switch on my home laptop, sign on MSN, the display picture and message do not get updated. Are they suppose to work separately? normal? or there's problem?

Driver Problem

Hi All,

I have been given a IBM R60 which was freshly installed with an image file copied from a HP desktop (not sure why it was used). I've been having a little problem whenever I boot up the laptop.

1st scenario:

It keeps detecting new hardware (PCI Device) but whenever I look at the device manager, it says it's working properly. Tried updating it and searching for the driver but I couldn't find anything. Uninstalling the driver didn't work for me as well.

2nd scenario:

Noticed that there is a Unknown device without driver as well. Googled it and found out that an Atmel TPM (Trusted Platform Module) device driver needs to be installed. Installed but doesn't seems to work too.

Can anyone help? Could it be caused by the image which was taken from a HP desktop? I could see from My Computer that it's written there Manufactured and supported by Hewlett-Packard. The laptop seems to be working fine, had bluescreen once quite a while ago, but the pop up whenever I start the laptop is rather irritating. I'm also quite worried that one day it'd crash and all my data would be wiped out.

need a little help here, I've used a taxi service from a forumer's contact last year but I've lost it. I'd need his service again and I hope somebody or the initial forumer could help me on that? I don't remember his nick either but I think he's into bikes or something.

I only remember the cab driver's name is Jimmy...the cab is those red and white SUV type that could fetch 5 persons.

Virus Infection in Laptop

Looking for some advise here.

I'm currently working on my sister's laptop, apparently the system was lagging and she asked me if I could take a look at it.

It had a spyware monitoring sw with an expired ahem zone alarm av installed and both takes up ALOT of resources especially during start up. I uninstalled both applications and the laptop is running fine again.

I then installed a kaspersky antivirus 2009 trial version on it as I plan to purchase a 3 users license when my kaspersky av expires.

Within minutes of running a full scan (even before av definition is being updated) I notice there's alot of threats detected in the system files. I was thinking of a complete quick fix by reformating it as she really mess up alot of things by installing and downloading many unnecessary applications or files.

She has 30gb of assignments and work documents in her My Documents which need to be saved.

I did a scan on the My Document folder alone and the av detected many of the below infection:
Backdoor.Win32.mIRC-based.k

it was Postponed and later on I see there's deletion done on the report.

Ran another scan again on the same folder and there's nothing being detected after that.

Question:
Does this mean the data is clean now? I was thinking to copy them to my external harddisk and reformat the whole laptop. Then move it back to the newly reinstalled laptop.

Is this the safest way or there's better solutions?

1 yr old business owner looking for advice

Nature: An enterprise registered exactly a year ago with a partner, no business transaction thus far. Only 1 expenses i.e paying for the license registration. No bank accounts registered under the business's name. Has better plans now so would like to continue with the business, the license has just been renewed. Both partners have their own day job and declares their personal income tax accordingly.

Question: Do I have to make an account out of it? How do I do it? Tax declaration? any advice would be highly appreciated.

p/s: very new in trying to have own business so I'm open to all critics and advice..flame me if you wish to..

Problem with uninstalling games

I've been using this AP set SE K610i since last year and there's quite a few games in it which are trial versions..I've some problem trying to uninstall them..

Can anyone advise how to uninstall them? Whenever I pressed the C button, it says "Cannot be deleted, protected file".

can anyone also advise where can I get free games for this model? download? or just bring to handphone shops?

Disposing old stock of ink cartridge

Hi all,

I've around 150 pcs of compatible ink cartridge (including some dotmatrix printer ribbons too) mostly for bubblejet printers which were collected from my dad's old office. They're all unused and I was thinking if there's anyway for me to dispose it off either selling or giving them away.

I know most people wouldn't want it as its for old model printers but its a waste to throw it just like that...at least if it can be recyled or anything it'll be of good used..

just trying to do some good for the environment.

A friend of mine has lost his username and password and he did not keep the copy of statement given to him during registration..he has been using his streamyx without any problem until last week his router went kaput..another dude pandai pandai went to reset his router and he couldn't find back his account details..

the only way is to call streamyx hotline?

Thumbdrive Savings Songs from laptop

hey guys..

I have this pendrive that automatically saves all the songs I have from my laptop whenever I plug it in...I deleted all the contents and plug in again..it does the same thing copying all the songs from my laptop to it..

do I have to format the pendrive again? it doesn't happen to another thumbdrive so I assume the problem is on this pendrive..had a quick look at my windows media player option but couldn't find anything unusual..

Not sure if I'm posting at the right place....sorry if I'm wrong...I'm currently using a very common RM20 earphone when I go to the gym..or go for a jog..

most of the time the earbud would go loose if I'm going a bit too "bouncy"..I don't know much about earphones but was wondering if there's any suitable ones? and how much would they cost?

while reading HWM couple of weeks back I saw a review on this Shure SE420...it looks rather secure but the price really scares me..RM1.6k! My priority is to have something that's secure..don't need any superb sound producing gadget..I kinda think that those soft-piece-of-sponge-thingy would be helpful but have no idea what they're called and where to get them...

Custom clearance for local car?

Hi guys,

My brother just booked a myvi 2 weeks back...bank interview was done and loan approved a week after the booking..it was supposed to be ready for collection on Wednesday..here comes the problem part..the salesman kept delaying it everyday since Wednesday...at 1st say Wednesday evening..then thursday..then today...

My brother called the salesman yesterday to ask for latest status..all he could say was the usual "I'll try my best..its awaiting for custom which is not under our control..its for the roadtax.."

This morning he tried to call the salesman twice but there was no answer...so we went straight to the showroom to try our luck..saw the salesman in the showroom busy walking around preparing documents and stuff..the moment he saw us he brought us to the "Managing Director" room..which we were introduced to his boss..not sure if he's for real so we just went on complaining on the delay...he showed us a stack of files and explained to us its waiting for custom clearance and roadtax..don't know why they're not processing it fast enough..then the salesman showed us that even the number plate is ready..having no choice we asked for a date..he promised that the car will be ready to be collected on next Tuesday..and the salesman offered to buy us lunch..since I had to go back to work so we rejected the offer and left..

There's this one thing I'm curious about..I know how sales ppl work so I don't wanna say much on the salesman..I didn't go through all this when I bought my car couple of years back...just wondering why is there a need for custom clearance for our local cars?

Anyone has any idea?

Help on DVD player setup

Hi all,

I'm a total noob in home entertainment system and I hope I could get some advice here..

I recently just got my hands on this DVD player..I believe its China made and would like to get some advise on setting it up..

There is no user manual given (it was a used unit) so I'm kinda lost thinking how to connect it..

I've got a normal Sony 29' TV and would like it hook this DVD player to it with some speakers as well..I know they're cheap stuff but would like to start learning from whatever I have and make the best out of it...

I'm not expecting anything brilliant or in fact..nothing impressive..nothing close to even "AVERAGE"..I just want some surround sound or a little uummpphh while watching my favorite *ehem**low quality* action DVD..
