Connection between wireless and high ping.

Well i've been hit by a very peculiar situation indeed. my mum has a lappy in her room which uses wireless from my main Aztech DSL605EW in my room. Thing is when i play CSS, the ping is high when she is connected, even though she isnt using the lappy. but when i change the pw and she isnt connected, my ping goes back to normal. Why is this? Could it be a worm or some kind of virus?
