D-Link DIR-300 Unable to Connect to Streamyx

Hi Folks,

I was using an older model of Wifi Router from D-Link when I had it RMA'ed and was replaced with the latest model, DIR 300.

I am unable to connect to streamyx.

No matter what I do...when I click connect, it will say PPPOE disconnected...

Mind you, nothing fancy, just went to Manual Connection. Select PPPOE, type in my username and password.

My modem works just fine if I connect my PC to it directly.

I am on firmware 1.03...latest version.

I've tried replacing all the Cat 5 cables...

I've even brought it to the shop...and it worked fine there!

Any idea?

I am about to chuck this plastic crap out of the window...

Buying Decision - Nikon D40, D40x, and Canon 400D

Hi Folks,

I need some serious advise as I have a budget of low 2k.

I am a total beginner to DSLR. I've been using a Canon Ixus 60 for nearly 2 years and that point & click camera has served me well....brought it to many of my travels.

I don't intend to take sport photos.
I do not plan to upgrade to medium range DSLR or buy a lot of lenses, filters etc.

All I want is a good, easy to use DSLR, get a good lense that I can use in most situations/events/places.

My major use is to take sceneries (beach etc) and nature (dog etc), and events (parties etc). I want to take pictures of night time without flash too.

Below are the LOWEST price I have scouted after asking for a whole day...so tiring...

The D40x price quoted there is cheap as I am getting it from a source that I cannot mention unfortunately.

Of all the options above, what would be the best buy? I have used Nikon and Canon before thus my preference for these 2 brands. I've thought about Sony a100, Olympus e500, and Pentax K100 as well but my research on them are not too in-depth.

I feel undecided over D40 vs D40x. Lowest outside price for D40x package is RM 2600 but I can get it for RM 2450 due to connections.

Should I pay the extra RM 200 for D40x over the RM 2200 D40 package. But is the 10 MP vs the 6MP D40 a noticeable difference?

Or I should just get the D40 + kit lense only for RM 1950 and get a AF-S VR 55-200mm lense for RM 850? I know this lense aperture is 4 - 5.6....not very good but it is cheap and has VR (IS for Canon equivalent)

Canon 400D seems to be too pricey considering that the kit lense is not very good. I wanted to buy just the body and get better lense but this will blow my budget.
