Frankly, that part of the forum is being sidelined by members who post for no apparent reason.

I suggest merely allowing selected forumers to "discuss" in there, while being read only to the rest of the world.

Otherwise its akin to posting in Garage Sales with 0 intention to trade. Pointless & irritating.

my 5 minute method would be to present a selection of questions to answer. Fundamental stuff like bernuolli's equation, economy's of scale & φιλοσοφία (science, humanities and philosophy respectively as per forum description)

Choose one and write in to a mod.

This will just allow those serious ones to get in & talk. It's not discriminatory either since a google search can give you all the explanation needed to understand & answer. But IMHO a good enough filter to keep pointless chatter & facepalms out.

Hey all,

I've gone thru my 1st pack of protein & creatine. (Optimum Nutrition Whey & BSN respectively)

almost a year at the gym, I feel more confident about the things to do. But nutrition wise still at a loss. been 3 months since I had any supplements (uni holidays and don't want my parents to freak )

So now i'm planning on getting these :

BSN Syntha-6 (Protein)
CNP Professional Pro-Vital (vitamins)
Omega Sports Omega ONE (recovery)
MAN Sports Clout (creatine)

Any suggestions ?

I'm aiming for those that are best in their fields, (will seriously consider value for money options as well) depending on how big the advantage is.

I know you can swap free space around the other drives under Computer Management, but any way to do it for C: as well ?

will mySQL and php5 just stop working on a windows server ?

Between Linux, Windows and Java which would you guys go for ? Assuming costs are the same. Hoping for the most flexible platform.

So far most threads here are too far stretched to be discussed at length. Let's go with something simple (and provable, should you feel the need to) for a change

I'll kick it off :

We all know the higher we go, the lower the boiling point for water is due to pressure changes.
My question: does this mean the water has a lower freezing point as well ? (ie: still liquid at -5c ? )

EDIT: It would be nice if we concentrated on one question at a time, until a satisfactory conclusion can be made.

Multiple PC Sync

I used to sync between pc's using a dedicated file server on my home network.

It "kong-ed" while I was away, and since I'm studying abroad for 9 months out of a year, it makes little financial sense to replace it.

Hence was wondering if anyone has opinions on these sync softwares :

None techie people will be using them mostly, so preferably the program will sync, say a laptop and desktop folder automatically. Even better if it can sync with a designated HDD as well, but i've yet to come across something that does that.

Not Quite A Home Theater

Hi guys !

Moving into a new place soon, and planning to finally outfit a room for my AV lusts *innocent*

I don't have much space to work with, only 4.67m x 4.17m and need some of that for my dinning area as well.

I have no clue towards TV's or stand alone media players

So right now, the idea is to use a Dell 30" paired with a PS3. Or shoud I just get a Tv ?

and also, any good speakers that don't take up the whole living room ? I've my eye on the Klipsch RVX-54, but it might be overkill in such a small space. Bose HT's just don't sound right to me

Will be using it for everything... music, games, DVD's ... hope to be able to stream videos from my desktop as well.

Budget of RM10-15k excluding the TV.

Can we compile all the useful / interesting info from the various sections and put them into mini articles ?

I'm sure there's plenty of budding writers around, and instead of abstract posts in the "News" section wouldn't it be more relevant if there's tips for OC-ing, Movie ratings (voted by lyn-ers) , how to keep your pc healthy, monthly handphone recommendation, fashion tips etc etc etc etc

shame to keep all that info buried in the forums.

No Flash Player Support

wonder if there's any flash players that support x64 bit OS'es ?

I'm using the mainstream adobe , but it dosent have a proper version for x64bit. and the videos are jagged / skip in youtube or any other flash based site

so i'll have to use the 32bit IE to stream videos. any work around to this ?

Hi guys

Which brand and kind of supplements should I be taking if i want to body build ?

I planned my workout schedule already, but still puzzled over the supplements thing. google-ed but almost every site i come across proclaims its product as the best

I'm not in Malaysia at the moment, so getting any brands shouldn't be a problem

Thinking of taking supplements because I dont have the time / space to prepare and keep proper food. Staying in student accommodation.

Any help would be appreciated !

Mobile Computing Needs Attention Too

The Mobile Computing sub forum isn't as helpful as it's suppose to be. I'm not pointing fingers here, but new threads are constantly being closed and the forumers are being channeled to very outdated pinned threads which gives no help what so ever.

Organisation there is pretty bad as well compared to Handphones & Comm

I fail to see why we can't have our own dedicated mod to take care of members in that area. It may not be as technical as other parts of LYN, but it's still one of the most active and where people come to seek help.

The Quick Laptop Guide

Choosing a laptop was a pain for me.

After working out which brand to buy from, things got even more complicated. There came the choice of processors with weird numberings. Whaddya mean the P9500 is slower than X9000, number bigger kan? Graphics adapter/cards/integrated/dedicated ?? Why lowyat ppl scold me when I say ATI x1300 1024Mb better than nVidia 9600GT 512Mb ?

The least I needed was google-ing and reading a long,boring review about a particular laptop. Most of the time, I'll be guilty in skipping to the Conclusion bit . Hence, I'm writing this for those who want a quick overview of the better buys in the market and hopefully it'll help point them towards a platform that suits their needs best.

The laptops will be sorted in Order of Screen Size. Generally, the smaller the screen, the lighter and more portable the laptop.
