Experiencing delay when turn off the pc

Hi there guys, Im currently using window xp professional and i got a small problem here. Im experiencing a weird delay shutdown symptom on my pc.
Every time i click the turn off button, it will go back to the window desktop and do nothing.
After 2 or 3 minute it will then shut down on its own. It doesnt effect the pc performance but it starting to get annoying .
This is the second time im experiencing this problem. Before this i just reformat the pc and the problem go away but right now im kinda lazy to reformat the pc again.
So...can anyone give me some suggestion or solution to my problem? really appreciate your help
