Microsoft OS server Ubuntu client, legal question microsoft ubuntu

i run a game cafe. my 1 question is simple and straight forward.

will running my server with microsoft operating system and sharing windows based games files over the network from the server to ubuntu based clients pc be breaching any Microsoft's rules and regulation?

Hi Experts,

I have been google around on which filesystem are more superior. I am using Suse and noticed it was using reiserFS as default filesystem. Somehow reiserFS are not much supported by other 3rd party restore application and it also don support system dump. The only benefit i see was the execution time are more faster in smaller size file. I tot the standard should be using ext3 as default? am i correct? Anyone have experiences on choosing ext3 and reiser? and why? Please advise. Thanks.

I got this problem in Ubuntu 9.10 and Windows 7. already try to connect with windows 7. fill up all the needed fill. but it keep poping to fill the password even the password are suppose to be correct. so may i noe how to fix it? sigh.

i was new to linux(juz install it this afternoon to experience the linux OS beside using Vista) and I come across this problem: My HP DV3 2111tx currently running dual boot with vista and ubuntu 9.10, but my ubuntu does not have sound(driver problem??) and i had search through internet and find out that HP DV3 2111tx drivers are only for windows, can someone help me with my sound problem???

P/S:Im totally new in linux based OS and I'm willing to learn,but plz forgive me for my sometimes silly questions that I might come across and it may be solved easilly(dun scold me )

Hello, I am just a small step shy from completely relying on my new EEEbuntu install on my Asus EEEPc 701 4G.

I need to run a subscription windows software by my unit trust company Public Mutual (which requires us to login and download the updates from the company server).

I am able to install the software, but Wine reported that it has some error. The error message is

I have tried to copy the craxddrt.dll file from another windows pc to the wine C system folder and the error still persist. Other post in this forum suggest to use the terminal to register the dll but it has error to register it also.

When I ignore this message and proceed with the installation, the program able to login to the company server and download the update files. But it spits out run-time error if I logged in to view the downloaded files.

I think the windows software is a MS-Access based software and I am running Wine 1.1.32 version.

Any suggestion that could help me get around this problem? Thanks!

Ya i just googled around but found most of the tutorial using ubuntu.img (extension img), from what i downloaded from Ubuntu.com .. it comes with *.ISO
Just using default program in Ubuntu > USB Startup disk .. when the boot nothing happened.
Any idea?

Need advice on detecting CallerID from analog TM line in Asterisk 1.2.
I'm using Digium TDM800P. I've all ready subscribe to CallerID service with TM.
My telephone can display incoming number without any problem, but I can't seem to detect it with Asterisk.

I have tried these following configuration in zapata.conf :
usecallerid=yes
callerid=asreceived
cidsignalling= bell or v23 or dtmf
cidstart=ring or polarity
sendcalleridafter=0 or 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5

So far, still can't detect CallerID.

Please advice.

Hi all linux-er!

I wanna get back into the Linux bandwagon now and boy how things has changed since I tried my first Linux install 10 years ago! I am very impressed, and I am trying to convert my office PCs to Linux. I am still a linux newbie.

I am trying out a few distros, and reading as much as I can before my boss decides to get Windows 7 license for our 3 new PCs next week (no!!!!)

So far I has sucessfully installed Ubuntu, OpenSuse and Fedora. I have not decided to use with distro, but will see which would give me help me to achieve the following objective, and linux-er help me with the following question.

1. Our pc needs to have a Chinese Simplified Input software. I've tried this on Fedora, and it seems to have only traditional keyboard but I am sure I can find a workaround once I installed some simplified fonts. I read around linux forum, it seems they only offer pre-packaged fonts instructions. So the question is,

a) How do I install my own sets of chinese true type fonts that we use in our office?

2. Our linux PCs needs to be networked with some Windows based PC that we have around here. The question is

b) Would linux be able to connect to the same windows workgroup and transfer document files back and forth? If yes how eh?

If I am able to do that I can safely make a proposal to my boss to use linux and save money from buying windows products...

Straight to what I want to say, I'm currently experiencing some probs in Ubuntu regarding to graphic probs, which is stress-minded one. I've reported a bug in LP (Launchpad). OK, I want to tell what's going on, is really long and cannot be simplified. Hope to those sifus, masters and maybe newbies who already experienced this prob and know how to solve it, please visit the bug that I've reported in LP, and hope can assist me to solve this stress-minded probs, and I really want to solve it fast because can't stand it anymore although experience it 1st time. Ubuntu eat more fast battery than Win?,

im not sure la either due to an applications that i running or the fact Ubuntu eat more battery.
Running on my laptop C2D vPro processor, i think the battery so fast to drain. Is it because of the application that i run?
