HTC HD2, Thats a big screen...

The HTC HD2 is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU and sports the nice 448 MB of RAM. Running on Windows Mobile 6.5 it relies on a 4.3-inch display of WVGA resolution for its operation.

As if that wasn't exciting enough, the HD2 is also the first WinMo handset to feature a capacitive touchscreen, instead of the resistive units we have seen so far - perhaps that was exactly what was meant by Windows 7 ready in the yesterday's leak.

The HTC Sense UI, which comes preinstalled on top of the OS, is obviously here to iterate on the popular TouchFLO 3D and should make sure that all interface elements are large enough to be used with fingers only.

The network connectivity capabilities of the HTC HD2 are splendid, the handset coming with quad-band GSM support and dual band UMTS with 7.2 Mbps HSDPA and 2 Mbps HSUPA. Wi-Fi and GPS are also on board as well as the usual suspects Bluetooth and USB.

On the multimedia front the 11mm-slim HTC HD2 has a 5 megapixel autofocus camera and a standard 3.5mm audio jack to offer. The list of nice features of this powerhouse is completed by a built-in accelerometer and proximity sensor.

The HTC HD2 will be available later this month with selected operators across Europe, before rolling out to other regions in the coming months. The company is however yet hesitant to reveal more details about its pricing but rumors have it that it will be selling for around 650 euro (Vodafone Spain) or 499GBP in the UK, which is around 540 euro

Source : GSM Arena

Images resized.
۩۞۩۩۞۩Samsung Omnia i900 V4۩۞۩۩۞۩, 〜∽∾∿{Still Standing High}∿∾∽〜

INTRODUCTION

The Samsung SGH-i900, also known as Omnia or WiTu (in Russia only), is a new mobile phone being released by Samsung Mobile. Announced in June 2008, the Omnia was launched in Singapore in mid-June, available in stores on the 20th, and in the rest of Asia in July. For some parts of Europe, it was launched in August. The North American version launched in December through Verizon Wireless.

Based on the Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system, this phone is Samsung's attempt to cash in on the new touchscreen mobile phone market, where phones like the iPhone and HTC Touch Diamond have already made a strong presence. The phone was expected to retail in the U.K. market for around £500 on its release.

The Samsung Omnia comes with the following applications preinstalled to make its GUI and its functions distinguishable from other Windows Mobile 6–based smartphones:

* Samsung Today Screen 1 (alternative home screen UI)
* Samsung Today Screen 2 (similiar to Samsung Today Screen 1)
* Samsung Touch Wiz UI (alternative application menu with a widget bar and widgets)

All these applications have the ability to be controlled by sliding the finger across the screen. The third Today Screen has gained interest because of its control method. It uses about a fourth of the screen on the left side to hold a bar of widgets that can be scrolled up and down. The rest of the screen is customizable, as widgets can be pulled out of the sidebar and onto the main screen to be expanded for quick use.

The telephone's marketing campaign was noteworthy because of an attempt viral video posted on YouTube where unboxing the phone leads to a parade of tiny people accompanied by a fanfare presenting the phone.

Korean edition (T*Omnia)

SK Telecom and Samsung announced a Korean edition of Samsung Omnia, T*Omnia or SCH-M490. T is a brand name marketed by SK Telecom. The hardware has been upgraded to have a 3.3-inch Wide VGA(800*480) LCD and a PXA312 CPU that automatically overclocks up to 806 Mhz. An S-DMB tuner has replaced the TV-out and FM tuner. The 4 GB version(SCH-M490) is priced at KRW 968,000, and the 16 GB(SCH-M495) at KRW 1,078,000 including 10% VAT.

Japanese edition (930SC)

In Japan, SoftBank Mobile announced that the Samsung Omnia will be sold as 930SC in November 2008. However, it adopted the proprietary operating system instead of Windows Mobile. It has a 3.3-inch Wide VGA LCD and 1seg tuner, but GPS has been excluded. It is also available for SoftBank Mobile's own mobile Internet service.

North American edition (SGH-i910)

The Samsung Omnia has been released under the version name SGH-i910 in North America, with Verizon Wireless as the network operator. The SGH-i910 has a speaker on the back and also has added CDMA and also left the GSM radio for roaming. The SGH-i910 also has no front-facing camera. The SGH-i910 still runs Windows Mobile 6.1 along with some added software such as Visual Voicemail. All other features stay the same as the SGH-i900.The North American version of the phone uses the same 624MHz chip used by other versions. This has been confirmed by numerous North American users through the "settings" menu on the Omnia.

##Link to previous thread##
Samsung Omnia Thread V1
Samsung Omnia Thread V2
Samsung Omnia Thread V3

WARNING!!!
*No spamming in diz thread
*No dirty talk, insult, firing other ppl opinion, etc...
*No piracy, crack, warez, or related wif illegal software talk here
*Plz do it in PM if u want ask sumthin' not related to discussion
*Im not responsible if u were ban wif mod cuz of unable to follow the rules
*Enjoy ur discussion as long as its legal to do so here

+ For any comment or suggestion to improve diz topic dont hesitate to PM me
+ Thanx so much for those who support me..

Samsung I8000 Omnia II v2, All-in-one. Redefined

Samsung I8000 Omnia II

Samsung's top tier of Omnia devices is populated by some seriously heavy-hitters - first the 720p video recording Omnia HD and now the Omnia II - with its best-in-the-business display, WM 6.5, zippy processor and preloaded software galore, it will certainly win the hearts and minds of Windows Mobile fans.

It's no secret that the Samsung Omnia II has the HTC Touch Diamond2 in its sights. The Omnia II has several advantages, not the least of which is the amazing 3.7" AMOLED WVGA display. For the acronym-allergic - WVGA means 480 x 800 pixels resolution, which several years ago might have been considered acceptable for a computer monitor. That resolution is not so uncommon today, the exciting part here is "AMOLED" - active matrix organic LED. Or in plain English - brilliant picture quality.

It doesn't end there - the 800MHz CPU is one of the speediest around and the available capacities of up to 16GB built-in memory and up to 32GB external storage via microSD card offer more than enough memory expansion. There's Wi-Fi and GPS, the autofocus camera shoots 5MP stills and D1 video at 30fps and has dual-LED flash, there's DivX playback out of the box and HSDPA and HSUPA push the phone to great wireless speeds.

Official Site:
Samsung Mobile Malaysia

Specifications:
GSMArena.com

Review:
GSMArena.com

This means that you cannot switch to landscape mode except in the programs that support the accelerometer screen orientation switching (Album and Opera).

This can easily be fixed with a registry hack.
Using a Registry editor, go to:
HKeyLocalMachine/System/GDI/Rotation
Change the "HideOrientationUI" from 1 to 0

Then if you want to expand the rotation options further, within that same Rotation key above, change "LandscapeFixed" from 1 to 0.

This will give you the 3 rotation options you're used to seeing in Windows Mobile:
Portrait
Landscape (right-handed)
Landscape (left-handed)

However, since the TouchFLO 3D user interface is not designed to work in Landscape mode, as soon as you press the Home key, the screen will rotate back into Portrait mode. So be sure to use that Start menu instead when switching applications.

05. Removing "Horizontal Line" Aug 16 2009, 12:21 PM)

I forgot to mention, the problem occurred when I was trying to install Mobile Device Center. I can't installed WMDC because it cannot locate the driver. Then I try connecting the device and reinstall, extract the drvupdate-x86.exe (WMDC installation file), run drvupdate-x86.msi, etc. Manage the install and able to run WMDC, but without driver whatsoever. Whenever I connect THD to PC, the "installing new device" pops up and run endlessly, and eventually fail to find a suitable driver and fail. When I tried to connect THD to PC, the external storage was also missing from My Computer.

Anyway, the problem is solved already. For those that had same difficulty, apparently, it is due to Vista unable to identify and locate the driver using the auto "installing new device" thingy. I try to let it search online for driver, also fail. Later, I just run "update driver", under Device Manager and let it search under windows/system32. It repeats for 4-5 times, until no new unknown device appear in Device Manager.

Then I run WMDC, connect my THD, the WMDC remains "not connected". MicroSD card finally appear under My Computer. Since my default setting for "USB to PC" is Disk Drive, the last driver (aka Touch HD) was not installed. The final step is to change to "ActiveSync" and enable the "Enable faster data synchronization". After that, the "Found New Hardware" appear, and installed THD driver. (Can see under Device Manager->Portable Device->Touch HD ).

Just my experience, in case others encounter similar problem, hope this will helps. Took me one whole day to search and troubleshoot (seems like no one encounter such problem.
